Rational Maps with Invariant Surfaces

We provide new examples of integrable rational maps in four dimensions with two rational invariants, which have unexpected geometric properties, as for example orbits confined to non algebraic varieties, and fall outside classes studied by earlier authors. We can reconstruct the map from both invariants. One of the invariants defines the map unambiguously, while the other invariant also defines a new map leading to non trivial fibrations of the space of initial conditions.

General Solution of the Consistency Equation

We produce the general solution of the Wess-Zumino consistency condition for gauge theories of the Yang-mills type, for any ghost number and form degree. We resolve the problem of the cohomological independence of these solutions. In other words we fully describe the local version of the cohomology of the BRS operator, modulo the differential on space--time. This in particular includes the presence of external fields and non--trivial topologies of space--time.
