Penrose limits of Abelian and non-Abelian T-duals of $AdS_5\times S^5$ and their field theory duals

We consider the backgrounds obtained by Abelian and non-Abelian T-duality applied on $AdS_5\times S^5$. We study geodesics, calculate Penrose limits and find the associated plane-wave geometries. We quantise the weakly coupled type-IIA string theory on these backgrounds. We study the BMN sector, finding operators that wrap the original quiver CFT. For the non-Abelian plane wave, we find a 'flow' in the frequencies. We report some progress to understand this, in terms of deconstruction of a higher dimensional field theory. We explore a relation with the plane-wave limit of the Janus solution, which we also provide.

Type IIB Supergravity Solutions with AdS${}_5$ From Abelian and Non-Abelian T Dualities

We present a large class of new backgrounds that are solutions of type IIB supergravity with a warped AdS${}_5$ factor, non-trivial axion-dilaton, $B$-field and three-form Ramond-Ramond flux but yet have no five-form flux. We obtain these solutions and many of their variations by judiciously applying non-Abelian and Abelian T-dualities, as well as coordinate shifts to AdS${}_5\times X_5$ IIB supergravity solutions with $X_5=S^5, T^{1,1}, Y^{p,q}$. We address a number of issues pertaining to charge quantization in the context of non-Abelian T-duality. We comment on some properties of the expected dual super conformal field theories by studying their CFT central charge holographically. We also use the structure of the supergravity Page charges, central charges and some probe branes to infer aspects of the dual super conformal field theories.

N=2 SUSY Abelian Higgs model with hidden sector and BPS equations

In this paper we study a system inspired on certain SUSY breaking models and on more recent Dark Matter scenarios. In our set-up, two Abelian gauge fields interact via an operator that mixes their kinetic terms. We find the extended Supersymmetric version of this system, that also generates a Higgs portal type of interaction. We obtain and study both analytically and numerically, the equations defining topologically stable string-like objects. We check our results using two different approaches. Various technical details are explicitly stated for the benefit of various readers.

A Topological Bound for Electroweak Vortices from Supersymmetry

We study the connection between N=2 supersymmetry and a topological bound in a two-Higgs-doublet system having an $SU(2)\times U(1)_Y\times U(1)_{Y'}$ gauge group. We derive Bogomol'nyi equations from supersymmetry considerations showing that they hold provided certain conditions on the coupling constants, which are a consequence of the huge symmetry of the theory, are satisfied.

On Pseudospherically Symmetric Repulsive Gravitational Field

Solutions of Einstein vacuum equations, for a static pseudospherically symmetric system, are presented. They describe a naked singularity and a singular solution with many resemblances to the Schwartzschild solution but with two major differences: its static region, lying inside the null horizon, sees the singularity, and its effective gravitational field is repulsive. We shortly discuss on the phenomenological plausibility of this last solution as a self-consistent system living on a space-time domain, and discuss some features of particle geodesics in its gravitational field.

Bogomol'nyi Bounds and Killing Spinors in d=3 Supergravity

We discuss the connection between the construction of Bogomol'nyi bounds and equations in three dimensional gravitational theories and the existence of an underlying $N=2$ local supersymmetric structure. We show that, appart from matter self duality equations, a first order equation for the gravitational field (whose consistency condition gives the Einstein equation) can be written as a consequence of the local supersymmetry. Its solvability makes possible the evasion of the no-go scenario for the construction of Killing spinors in asymptotically conical spacetimes. In particular we show that the existence of non-trivial supercovariantly constant spinors is guaranteed whenever field configurations saturate the topological bound.

Supergravity and a Bogomol'nyi Bound in Three Dimensions

We discuss the $2+1$ dimensional Abelian Higgs model coupled to $N=2$ supergravity. We construct the supercharge algebra and, from it, we show that the mass of classical static solutions is bounded from below by the topological charge. As it happens in the global case, half of the supersymmetry is broken when the bound is attained and Bogomol'nyi equations, resulting from the unbroken supersymmetry, hold. These equations, which correspond to gravitating vortices, include a first order self-duality equation whose integrability condition reproduces the Einstein equation.
