Exploring the QGP phase above the deconfinement temperature in $pp$ and $A-A$ collisions at LHC energies

In the present work we have analyzed the transverse momentum spectra of charged particles in high multiplicity ${\it pp}$ collisions at LHC energies $\sqrt s = $ 5.02 and 13 TeV published by the ALICE Collaboration using the Color String Percolation Model (CSPM). For heavy ions Pb-Pb at $\sqrt {s_{NN}} =$ 2.76 and 5.02 TeV along with Xe-Xe at $\sqrt {s_{NN}} = $ 5.44 TeV have been analyzed. The initial temperature is extracted both in low and high multiplicity events in ${\it pp}$ collisions. For $A-A$ collisions the temperature is obtained as a function of centrality. A universal scaling in the temperature from $pp$ and $A-A$ collisions is obtained when multiplicity is scaled by the transverse interaction area. From the measured energy density $\bm \varepsilon$ and the temperature the dimensionless quantity $\bm \varepsilon/T^{4}$ is obtained. Our results for Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions show a sharp increase in $\bm \varepsilon/T^{4}$ above T $\sim$ 210 MeV and reaching the ideal gas of quarks and gluons value of $\bm \varepsilon/T^{4} \sim$ 16 at temperature $\sim $ 230 MeV. In case of $pp$ collisions only $\bm \varepsilon/T^{4} \sim $ 10 corresponding to $\sim$ 30 degrees of freedom.

Thermal and hard scales in transverse momentum distributions, fluctuations and entanglement

We analyze the transverse momentum distributions of pp, pPb, XeXe and PbPb collisions at different RHIC and LHC energies and centralities as well as the corresponding distributions for Higgs production decaying into $γγ$ and 4l. A simple linear relation is found between the effective thermal temperature and the hard scale, approximately valid for all processes and mainly determined by the hard scale fluctuations. In order to go further, it is shown that the whole spectrum of pp collisions can be described by a single function showing that the thermal temperature is determined solely by the hard scale and its fluctuations. The possible relation between the multiplicities of the soft and hard scales is explored.

Energy loss as the origin of an universal scaling law of the elliptic flow

It is shown that the excellent scaling of the elliptic flow found for all centralities, species and energies from RHIC to the LHC for $p_{T}$ less than the saturation momentum is a consequence of the energy lost by a parton interacting with the color field produced in a nucleus-nucleus collision. In particular, the deduced shape of the scaling curve describes correctly all the data. We discuss the possible extensions to higher $p_{T}$, proton-nucleus and proton-proton collisions as well as higher harmonics.

Rapidity dependence of particle densities in pp and AA collisions

We use multiple scattering and energy conservation arguments to describe $dn/dη_{NANA}$ as a function of $dn/dη_{pp}$ in the framework of string percolation. We discuss the pseudo-rapidity $η$? and beam rapidity Y dependence of particle densities. We present our results for pp, Au- Au, and Pb-Pb collisions at RHIC and LHC.

Multiplicity in pp and AA collisions: the same power law from energy-momentum constraints in string production

We show that the dependence of the charged particle multiplicity on the centre-of-mass energy of the collision is, in the String Percolation Model, driven by the same power law behavior in both proton-proton and nucleus- nucleus collisions. The observed different growths are a result of energy- momentum constraints that limit the number of formed strings at low en- ergy. Based on the very good description of the existing data, we provide predictions for future high energy LHC runs.

String percolation and the first LHC data

The results of string percolation on multiplicities and elliptic flow in AA and pp collisions are compared with LHC data showing a good agreement. We discuss the rapidity long range correlations and its relation to the height and longitudinal extension of the ridge structure. Finally we show that the dependence of the shear viscosity over entropy density ratio on the temperature, presents a minimum close to the critical temperature remaining small in the range of the RHIC and LHC energies.

Long Range Forward-Backward Correlations and the Color Glass Condensate

We discuss forward-backward correlations in the mutliplicity of produced particles in heavy ion collisions. We find the Color Glass Condensate generates distinctive predictions for the long range component of this correlation. In particular, we predict the growth of the long range correlation with the centrality of the collision. We argue that the correlation for mesons is stronger than that for baryons.
