Unveiling the Collins-Soper kernel in inclusive DIS at threshold

We revisit the factorization of inclusive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) near the kinematic threshold in terms of collinear, off-light-cone operators. At threshold, particle production develops around two opposite near-light-cone directions in close analogy with transverse-momentum-dependent semi-inclusive DIS. The Collins-Soper kernel then emerges as the universal function governing the rapidity evolution of the relevant parton correlators in both cases. Our new framework also clarifies outstanding issues related to soft radiation and rapidity divergences at threshold.

Two bodies left behind

We consider scenarios in which a shallow bound state undergoes breakup by a probe whose energy is high compared to the binding energy. The first two scenarios, which serve as warm-up exercises, involve a single heavy particle bound to a light particle, analogous to a core nucleus bound to a neutron. We show that in quasi-free kinematics, the leading effect comes from the heavy particle being knocked out by the probe, with corrections suppressed by inverse powers of the probe momentum. This formally justifies extracting neutron form factors from high-energy deuteron breakup in quasi-free kinematics. In Scenario 1, the probe is a local current; in Scenario 2, it is hadron scattering. In Scenarios 3 and 4 we consider, respectively, a local current and hadron scattering, but now on a three-body bound state of a heavy particle and two light particles. Hard knockout of the heavy particle leaves two low-energy particles behind, which can interact with one another. In all four scenarios, we prove that the amplitude is dominated by the nearby on-shell pole of the heavy-particle propagator and derive a closed-form expression for this contribution. When two bodies are left behind, the leading amplitude is the product of the scattering of the two light particles, a dynamical function depending on the probe, and a real function related to the bound-state wavefunction. Thus, quasi-free removal of a core nucleus from a system with halo neutrons provides access to on-shell data on multi-neutron interactions. The resulting amplitudes are relativistic and satisfy unitarity for the remnant subsystem exactly. We also provide complementary non-relativistic derivations. While the derivations are for spinless particles, the generalization to spin is straightforward, since the results depend only on quasi-free knockout kinematics; we make no assumptions about the inter-particle dynamics.

Partial-wave projection of relativistic three-body amplitudes

We derive the integral equations for partial-wave projected three-body scattering amplitudes, starting from the integral equations for three-body amplitudes developed for lattice QCD analyses. The results, which hold for generic three-body systems of spinless particles, build upon the recently derived partial-wave projected one-particle exchange, a primary component of the relativistic framework proven to satisfy S matrix unitarity. We derive simplified expressions for factorizable short-distance interactions, $\mathcal{K}_{3}$, in two equivalent formalisms - one symmetric under particle interchange and one asymmetric. For the asymmetric case, we offer parameterizations useful for amplitude analysis. Finally, we examine toy models for $3π$ systems at unphysically heavy pion masses with total isospins 0,1, and 2.

Gauge invariant spectral analysis of quark hadronization dynamics

We study the Dirac decomposition of the gauge invariant quark propagator, whose imaginary part describes the hadronization of a quark as this interacts with the vacuum, and relate each of its coefficients to a specific sum rule for the chiral-odd and chiral-even quark spectral functions. Working at first in light-like axial gauge, we obtain a new sum rule for the spectral function associated to the gauge fixing vector, and show that its second moment is in fact equal to zero. Then, we demonstrate that the first moment of the chiral-odd quark spectral function is equal in any gauge to the so-called inclusive jet mass, which is related to the mass of the particles produced in the hadronization of a quark. Finally, we present a gauge-dependent formula that connects the second moment of the chiral-even quark spectral function to invariant mass generation and final state rescattering in the hadronization of a quark.

Hadronization dynamics from the spectral representation of the gauge invariant quark propagator

Using the spectral representation of the quark propagator we study the Dirac decomposition of the gauge invariant quark propagator, whose imaginary part describes the hadronization of a quark as this interacts with the vacuum. We then demonstrate the formal gauge invariance of the so-called jet mass, that is of the coefficient of the chiral-odd part of the gauge invariant propagator, that can be expressed in any gauge as the first moment of the chiral-odd quark spectral function. This is therefore revealed to be a \textit{bona fide} QCD observable encoding aspects of the dynamical mass generation in the QCD vacuum, and is furthermore experimentally measurable in specific twist-3 longitudinal-transverse asymmetries in DIS and in semi-inclusive electron-positron collisions. In light-like axial gauges, we also obtain a new sum rule for the spectral function associated with the gauge fixing vector. We finally present a gauge-dependent formula that connects the second moment of the chiral-even coefficient of the quark spectral function to invariant mass generation and final state rescattering in the hadronization of a quark. Finding twist-4 experimental observables sensitive to this quantity is left for future work.

Quark-Antiquark Effective Potential in Symplectic Quantum Mechanics

In this paper, we study within the structure of Symplectic Quantum Mechanics a bi-dimensional non-relativistic strong interaction system which represent the bound state of heavy quark-antiquark, where we consider a Cornell potential which consists of Coulomb-type plus linear potentials. First, we solve the Schrödinger equation in the phase space with the linear potential. The solution (ground state) is obtained and analyzed by means of the Wigner function related to Airy function for the $c\overline{c}$ meson. In the second case, to treat the Schrödinger-like equation in the phase space, a procedure based on the Bohlin transformation is presented and applied to the Cornell potential. In this case, the system is separated into two parts, one analogous to the oscillator and the other we treat using perturbation method. Then, we quantized the Hamiltonian with the aid of stars operators in the phase space representation so that we can determine through the algebraic method the eigenfunctions of the undisturbed Hamiltonian (oscillator solution), and the other part of the Hamiltonian was the perturbation method. The eigenfunctions found (undisturbed plus disturbed) are associated with the Wigner function via Weyl product using the representation theory of Galilei group in the phase space. The Wigner function is analyzed, the non-classicality of ground state and first excited state is studied by the non-classicality indicator or negativity parameter of the Wigner function for this system. In some aspects, we observe that the Wigner function offers an easier way to visualize the non-classic nature of meson system than the wavefunction does.
