Renormalon-based resummation for B(D) Mesons

We apply a previously developed method of renormalon-based resummation of spacelike and timelike QCD observables, to evaluate of the values of the pole masses $m_q$ of $q=b$ and $c$ quarks, using as input the knowledge of the values of the corresponding ${\overline{\rm MS}}$ masses ${\overline m}_q \equiv {\overline m}_q({\overline m}_q^2)$. The evaluation also uses the knowledge of the first few coefficients of the perturbation expansion of $m_q$ (i.e., of $m_q/{\overline m}_q$), as well as the known renormalon structure of that expansion. In the evaluation, we use the timelike QCD running coupling based on a specific holomorphic spacelike QCD coupling, in order to avoid additional ambiguities due to the Landau poles of the usual perturbative coupling. The principal IR regulator parameter of the coupling is varied in an expected range. We also reevaluate the chromomagnetic Wilson coefficient of heavy quark ${\hat C}(m_q^2)$, and extract values of several corresponding hadronic parameters.

The chromomagnetic moment of a heavy quark with hyperasymptotic precision

We determine the normalization of the leading infrared renormalon of the chromomagnetic moment of a heavy quark. Estimates of higher order coefficients of the perturbative series are given. We compute the hyperfine splitting of the $B$ and $D$ mesons for the ground state with hyperasymptotic precision by including the leading terminant, associated with the first infrared renormalon. We fit the experimental data to the operator product expansion theoretical prediction with $\hat \mu^2_{G,\rm PV}$ as the free parameter. We obtain $\hat \mu^2_{G,\rm PV}=0.507(7)$ GeV$^2$ for the ground state.

Renormalon-based resummation for spacelike and timelike QCD quantities whose perturbation expansion has general form

We present a generalisation of our previous approach of a renormalon-motivated resummation of the QCD observables. Previously it was applied to the spacelike observables whose perturbation expansion was $D(Q^2) = a(Q^2) + O(a^2)$, where $a(Q^2) \equiv \alpha_s(Q^2)/\pi$ is the running QCD coupling. Now we generalise the resummation to spacelike quantities $D(Q^2) = a(Q^2)^{\nu_0} + O(a^{\nu_0+1})$ and timelike quantities $F(\sigma) = a(\sigma)^{\nu_0} + O(a^{\nu_0+1})$, where $\nu_0$ is in general a noninteger number ($0<\nu_0 \leq 1$). We evaluate with this approach a timelike quantity, namely the scheme-invariant factor of the Wilson coefficient of the chromomagnetic operator in the heavy-quark effective Lagrangian, and related quantities.

The mass of the lightest gluelump

We give the most up-to-date determinations of the normalization of the leading renormalons of the pole mass, the singlet static potential, the octet static potential, and the gluelump energy. They read $Z^{\rm MS}_m=-Z^{\rm MS}_{V_s}/2=\{0.604(17),0.551(20)\}$, $Z^{\rm MS}_{V_o}=\{0.136(8),0.121(13)\}$, and $Z^{\rm MS}_A=\{-1.343(36),-1.224(43)\}$, for $n_f=0$ and $n_f=3$ respectively. We obtain two independent renormalization group invariant and renormalization scale independent determinations of the energy of the ground state gluelump in the principal value summation scheme: $\Lambda_{B}^{\rm PV}=2.47(9)r_0^{-1}$ and $\Lambda_{B}^{\rm PV}=2.38(11)r_0^{-1}$. They combine in $\Lambda_{B}^{\rm PV}=2.44(7)r_0^{-1}$.

Extending the LCSR method to the electromagnetic pion form factor at low momenta using QCD renormalization-group summation

We obtain the electromagnetic pion form factor (emFF) $F_\pi$ for spacelike mid-range of momentum transfer in QCD. We use renormalization group (RG) summation within the light cone sum rules (LCSRs) to obtain the QCD radiative corrections to the $F_\pi$ and involve contributions of the leading twist 2 and, twists 4, 6. The additional conditions to apply here this RG summation are discussed in details. The strong coupling constants in this approach are free of Landau singularities, which allows one to go down to the lower transferred momentum $Q^2$. The prediction of the calculations performed reproduces the experimental data below/around $Q^2= 1$~GeV$^2$ significantly better than analogous predictions based on a fixed-order power-series expansion in the standard QCD.

Towards unifying perturbative and Holographic Light-Front QCD via holomorphic coupling

We construct a QCD coupling ${\mathcal{A}}(Q^2)$ in the Effective Charge (ECH) scheme of the canonical part $d(Q^2)$ of the (inelastic) polarised Bjorken Sum Rule (BSR) ${\overline \Gamma}_1^{{\rm p-n}}(Q^2)$. In the perturbative domain, the coupling ${\mathcal{A}}(Q^2)$ practically coincides with the perturbative coupling $a(Q^2)$ [$\equiv \alpha_s(Q^2)/\pi$] in the four-loop ECH renormalisation scheme. In the deep infrared (IR) regime, ${\mathcal{A}}(Q^2)$ behaves as suggested by the Holographic Light-Front QCD up to the second derivative. Furthermore, in contrast to its perturbative counterpart $a(Q^2)$, the coupling ${\mathcal{A}}(Q^2)$ is holomorphic in the entire complex $Q^2$-plane with the exception of the negative semiaxis, reflecting the holomorphic properties of the BSR observable $d(Q^2)$ [or: ${\overline \Gamma}_1^{{\rm p-n}}(Q^2)$] as dictated by the general principles of the Quantum Field Theory. It turns out that the obtained coupling, used as ECH, reproduces quite well the experimental data for ${\overline \Gamma}_1^{{\rm p-n}}(Q^2)$ in the entire $N_f=3$ regime $0 < Q^2 \lesssim 5 \ {\rm GeV}^2$.

Evaluation of Bjorken polarised sum rule with a renormalon-motivated approach

We use the known renormalon structure of Bjorken polarised sum rule (BSR) ${\overline \Gamma}_1^{p-n}(Q^2)$ to evaluate the leading-twist part of that quantity. In addition, we include $D=2$ and $D=4$ Operator Product Expansion (OPE) terms and fit this expression to available experimental data for inelastic BSR. Since we use perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling, which fails at low squared spacelike momenta $Q^2 \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$ due to Landau singularities, the fit is performed for $Q^2 \geq Q^2_{\rm min}$ where $Q^2_{\rm min} \approx (1.7 \pm 0.3) \ {\rm GeV}^2$. Due to large BSR experimental uncertainties, the extracted value of the pQCD coupling has very large uncertainties, especially when $Q^2_{\rm min}$ is varied. However, when we fix the pQCD coupling to the known world average values, the $D=2$ and $D=4$ residue parameters can be determined within large but reasonable uncertainties.

Bjorken sum rule with hyperasymptotic precision

We obtain an improved determination of the normalization of the leading infrared renormalon of the Bjorken sum rule: $Z_B (n_f=3)= -0.407\pm 0.119 $. Estimates of higher order terms of the perturbative series are given. We compute the Bjorken sum rule with hyperasymptotic precision by including the leading terminant, associated with the first infrared renormalon. We fit the experimental data to the operator product expansion theoretical prediction with $\hat f_{3}^{\rm PV}$ as the free parameter. We obtain a good agreement with the experiment with $\hat f_{3}^{\rm PV}\times 10^3=32^{+187}_{-196}\;{\rm GeV}^{2}$ for $Q^2 \geq 1$ GeV$^2$.

Borel-Laplace Sum Rules with $\tau$ decay data, using OPE with improved anomalous dimensions

We perform numerical analysis of double-pinched Borel-Laplace QCD sum rules for the strangeless semihadronic $\tau$-decay data. The $D=0$ contribution to the theoretical contour integral in the sum rules is evaluated by the (truncated) Fixed Order perturbation theory method (FO) and by the Principal Value (PV) of the Borel integration. We use for the full Adler function the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) with the terms $\sim \langle O_D \rangle$ of dimension $D=2 n$ where $2 \leq n \leq 5$ for the (V+A)-channel, and $2 \leq n \leq 7$ for the V-channel data. In our previous works [1,2], only the (V+A)-channel data was analysed. In this work, the analysis of a new set of V-channel data is performed as well. Further, a renormalon-motivated construction of the $D=0$ part of the Adler function is improved in the $u=3$ infrared renormalon sector, by involving the recently known information on the two principal noninteger values $k^{(j)}=\gamma^{(1)}(O_6^{(j)})/\beta_0$ of the effective leading-order anomalous dimensions. Additionally, the OPE of the Adler function has now the D=6 contribution with the principal anomalous dimension ($\sim \alpha_s^{k^{(1)}}$), and terms of higher dimension (with zero anomalous dimension). Cross-checks of the obtained extracted values of $\alpha_s$ and of the condensates were performed by reproduction of the (central) experimental values of several double-pinched momenta $a^{(2,n)}$. The averaged final extracted values of the (MSbar) coupling are: $\alpha_s(m_{\tau}^2) = 0.3169^{+0.0070}_{-0.0096}$, corresponding to $\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1183^{+0.0009}_{-0.0012}$.

Using improved Operator Product Expansion in Borel-Laplace Sum Rules with ALEPH $\tau$ decay data, and determination of pQCD coupling

We use improved truncated Operator Product Expansion (OPE) for the Adler function, involving two types of terms with dimension $D=6$, in the double-pinched Borel-Laplace Sum Rules and Finite Energy Sum Rules for the V+A channel strangeless semihadronic $\tau$ decays. The generation of the higher order perturbative QCD terms of the $D=0$ part of the Adler function is carried out using a renormalon-motivated ansatz incorporating the leading UV renormalon and the first two leading IR renormalons. The trunacted $D=0$ part of the Sum Rules is evaluated by two variants of the fixed-order perturbation theory (FO), by Principal Value of the Borel resummation (PV), and by contour-improved perturbation theory (CI). For the experimental V+A channel spectral function we use the ALEPH $\tau$-decay data. We point out that the truncated FO and PV evaluation methods account correctly for the renormalon structure of the Sum Rules, while this is not the case for the truncated CI evaluation. We extract the value of the ${\overline {\rm MS}}$ coupling $\alpha_s(m_{\tau}^2) = 0.3235^{+0.0138}_{-0.0126}$ [$\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1191 \pm 0.0016$] for the average of the two FO methods and the PV method, which we consider as our main result. If we included in the average also CI extraction, the value would be $\alpha_s(m_{\tau}^2) = 0.3299^{+0.0232}_{-0.0225}$ [$\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1199^{+0.0026}_{-0.0028}$]. This work is an extension and improvement of our previous work [Eur.Phys.J.C81 (2021) 10, 930] where we used for the truncated OPE a more naive (and widely used) form and where the extracted values for $\alpha_s(M_Z^2)$ were somewhat lower.

Determination of perturbative QCD coupling from ALEPH $\tau$ decay data using pinched Borel-Laplace and Finite Energy Sum Rules

We present a determination of the perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling using the V+A channel ALEPH $\tau$-decay data. The determination involves the double-pinched Borel-Laplace Sum Rules and Finite Energy Sum Rules. The theoretical basis is the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) of the V+A channel Adler function in which the higher order terms of the leading-twist part originate from a model based on the known structure of the leading renormalons of this quantity. The applied evaluation methods are contour-improved perturbation theory (CIPT), fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT), and Principal Value of the Borel resummation (PV). All the methods involve truncations in the order of the coupling. In contrast to the truncated CIPT method, the truncated FOPT and PV methods account correctly for the suppression of various renormalon contributions of the Adler function in the mentioned sum rules. The extracted value of the ${\overline {\rm MS}}$ coupling is $\alpha_s(m_{\tau}^2) = 0.3116 \pm 0.0073$ [$\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1176 \pm 0.0010$] for the average of the FOPT and PV methods, which we regard as our main result. On the other hand, if we include in the average also the CIPT method, the resulting values are significantly higher, $\alpha_s(m_{\tau}^2) = 0.3194 \pm 0.0167$ [$\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1186 \pm 0.0021$].

Hyperasymptotic approximation to the plaquette and determination of the gluon condensate

We give the hyperasymptotic expansion of the plaquette with a precision that includes the terminant associated to the leading renormalon. Subleading effects are also considered. The perturbative series is regulated using the principal value prescription for its Borel integral. We use this analysis to give a determination of the gluon condensate in SU(3) pure gluodynamics that is independent of the scale and renormalization scheme used for the coupling constant: $\langle G^2 \rangle_{\rm PV} (n_f=0)=3.15(18)\; r_0^{-4}$.

Determination of $\alpha(M_z)$ from an hyperasymptotic approximation to the energy of a static quark-antiquark pair

We give the hyperasymptotic expansion of the energy of a static quark-antiquark pair with a precision that includes the effects of the subleading renormalon. The terminants associated to the first and second renormalon are incorporated in the analysis when necessary. In particular, we determine the normalization of the leading renormalon of the force and, consequently, of the subleading renormalon of the static potential. We obtain $Z_3^F(n_f=3)=2Z_3^V(n_f=3)=0.37(17)$. The precision we reach in strict perturbation theory is next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic resummed order both for the static potential and for the force. We find that the resummation of large logarithms and the inclusion of the leading terminants associated to the renormalons are compulsory to get accurate determinations of $\Lambda_{\overline{\rm MS}}$ when fitting to short-distance lattice data of the static energy. We obtain $\Lambda_{\overline{\rm MS}}^{(n_f=3)}=338(12)$ MeV and $\alpha(M_z)=0.1181(9)$. We have also found strong consistency checks that the ultrasoft correction to the static energy can be computed at weak coupling in the energy range we have studied.

Evaluation of neutrinoless double beta decay: QCD running to sub-GeV scales

We evaluate QCD effects in the neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay, originating from new physics short-range mechanism in the form of five dimension-9 operators. For this, we employ the one-loop and two-loop renormalization group equations (RGEs) for the corresponding Wilson coefficients, performing the RGE-evolution from the new physics scales (estimated as $\Lambda ~ \sim 10^2$ GeV) to the typical spacelike $0\nu\beta\beta$-scale $Q \sim 0.1$ GeV. Since the latter scale is clearly nonperturbative, we apply various infrared-safe (IR-safe) variants of QCD where the running coupling has no Landau singularities at low spacelike $Q$. We point out that the correct treatment of the IR-safe analogs of the (noninteger) powers of the couplings is important. It turns out that in most cases of the considered operators the resulting QCD effects can be significant in this process, i.e., can be stronger than the effects of the present uncertainties in the nuclear matrix elements.

Hyperasymptotic approximation to the top, bottom and charm pole mass

We construct hyperasymptotic expansions for the heavy quark pole mass regulated using the principal value (PV) prescription. We apply such hyperasymptotic expansions to the $B/D$ meson masses, and $\bar \Lambda $ computed in the lattice. The issue of the uncertainty of the (top) pole mass is critically reexamined. The present theoretical uncertainty in the relation between ${\bar m}_t$, the $\bar{\rm MS}$ top mass, and $m_{t, \rm PV}$, the top pole mass regulated using the PV prescription, is numerically assessed to be $\delta m_{t,\rm PV}= 28\;{\rm MeV}$ for ${\bar m}_t =163$ GeV.

Superasymptotic and hyperasymptotic approximation to the operator product expansion

Given an observable and its operator product expansion (OPE), we present expressions that carefully disentangle truncated sums of the perturbative series in powers of $\alpha$ from the non-perturbative (NP) corrections. This splitting is done with NP power accuracy. Analytic control of the splitting is achieved and the organization of the different terms is done along an super/hyper-asymptotic expansion. As a test we apply the methods to the static potential in the large $\beta_0$ approximation. We see the superasymptotic and hyperasymptotic structure of the observable in full glory.

Bjorken polarized sum rule and infrared-safe QCD couplings

Experimental data obtained for the polarized Bjorken sum rule (BSR) $\Gamma_1^{p-n}(Q^2)$ are fitted by using predictions derived within a truncated operator product expansion (OPE) approach to QCD. Four QCD versions are considered: perturbative QCD (pQCD) in the MSbar scheme, Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT), and 2$\delta$ and 3$\delta$ analytic QCD versions. In contrast to pQCD, these QCD variants do not have Landau singularities at low positive $Q^2$, which facilitates the fitting procedure significantly. The fitting procedure is applied first to the experimental data of the inelastic part of BSR, and the known elastic contributions are added after the fitting. In general, when 2$\delta$ and 3$\delta$ QCD coupling is used the fitted curves give the best results, within the $Q^2$-range of the fit as well as in extended $Q^2$-intervals. When the fitting procedure is applied to the total BSR, i.e., to the sum of the experimental data and the elastic contribution, the quality of the results deteriorates significantly.
