RNA substructure as a random matrix ensemble

Combinatorial analysis of a certain abstract of RNA structures has been studied to investigate their statistics. Our approach regards the backbone of secondary structures as an alternate sequence of paired and unpaired sets of nucleotides, which can be described by random matrix model. We obtain the generating function of the structures using Hermitian matrix model with Chebyshev polynomial of the second kind and analyze the statistics with respect to the number of stems. To match the experimental findings of the statistical behavior, we consider the structures in a grand canonical ensemble and find a fugacity value corresponding to an appropriate number of stems.

The null identities for boundary operators in the $(2,2p+1)$ minimal gravity

By using the matrix-model representation, we show that correlation numbers of boundary changing operators (BCO) in $(2,2p+1)$ minimal Liouville gravity satisfy some identities, which we call the null identities. These identities enable us to express the correlation numbers of BCO in terms of those of boundary preserving operators. We also discuss a physical implication of the null identities as the manifestation of the boundary interaction.

From minimal gravity to open intersection theory

We investigated the relation between the two-dimensional minimal gravity (Lee-Yang series) with boundaries and open intersection theory. It is noted that the minimal gravity with boundaries is defined in terms of boundary cosmological constant $μ_B$ and the open intersection theory in terms of boundary marked point generating parameter $s$. Based on the conjecture that the two different descriptions of the generating functions are related by the Laplace transform, we derive the compact expressions for the generating function of the intersection theory from that of the minimal gravity on a disk and on a cylinder.

Open KdV hierarchy of 2d minimal gravity of Lee-Yang series

We present the open KdV hierarchy of 2d minimal gravity of Lee-Yang series which uses the boundary cosmological constant as a flow parameter. The boundary cosmological constant is a conjugate variable to the boundary flow parameter used in the open KdV hierarchy of the intersection numbers on the moduli space of Riemann surfaces with boundaries. The two generating functions are related through the Laplace transform.

Open KdV hierarchy and minimal gravity on disk

We show that the minimal gravity of Lee-Yang series on disk is a solution to the open KdV hierarchy proposed for the intersection theory on the moduli space of Riemann surfaces with boundary.

Dual Frobenius manifolds of minimal gravity on disk

Liouville field theory approach to 2-dimensional gravity possesses the duality ($b \leftrightarrow b^{-1}$). The matrix counterpart of minimal gravity $\mathcal{M}(q,p)$ ($q<p$ co-prime) is effectively described on $A_{q-1}$ Frobenius manifold, which may exhibit a similar duality $p\leftrightarrow q$, and allow a description on $A_{p-1}$ Frobenius manifold. We have positive results from the bulk one-point and the bulk-boundary two-point correlations on disk that the dual description of the Frobenius manifold works for the unitary series $\mathcal{M}(q, q+1)$. However, for the Lee-Yang series $\mathcal{M}(2, 2q+1)$ on disk the duality is checked only partially. The main difficulty lies in the absence of a canonical description of trace in the continuum limit.

Minimal gravity and Frobenius manifolds: bulk correlation on sphere and disk

There are two alternative approaches to the minimal gravity - direct Liouville approach and matrix models. Recently there has been a certain progress in the matrix model approach, growing out of presence of a Frobenius manifold (FM) structure embedded in the theory. The previous studies were mainly focused on the spherical topology. Essentially, it was shown that the action principle of Douglas equation allows to define the free energy and to compute the correlation numbers if the resonance transformations are properly incorporated. The FM structure allows to find the explicit form of the resonance transformation as well as the closed expression for the partition function. In this paper we elaborate on the case of gravitating disk. We focus on the bulk correlators and show that in the similar way as in the closed topology the generating function can be formulated using the set of flat coordinates on the corresponding FM. Moreover, the resonance transformations, which follow from the spherical topology consideration, are exactly those needed to reproduce FZZ result of the Liouville gravity approach.

Nekrasov and Argyres-Douglas theories in spherical Hecke algebra representation

AGT conjecture connects Nekrasov instanton partition function of 4D quiver gauge theory with 2D Liouville conformal blocks. We re-investigate this connection using the central extension of spherical Hecke algebra in q-coordinate representation, q being the instanton expansion parameter. Based on AFLT basis together with interwiners we construct gauge conformal state and demonstrate its equivalence to the Liouville conformal state, with careful attention to the proper scaling behavior of the state. Using the colliding limit of regular states, we obtain the formal expression of irregular conformal states corresponding to Argyres-Douglas theory, which involves summation of functions over Young diagrams.

Irregular Conformal States and Spectral Curve: Irregular Matrix Model Approach

We present recent developments of irregular conformal conformal states. Irregular vertex operators and their adjoint in a new formalism are used to define the irregular conformal states and their inner product instead of using the colliding limit procedure. Free field formalism can be augmented by screening operators which provide more degrees of freedom. The inner product is conveniently given as the partition function of an irregular matrix model. (Deformed) spectral curve is the loop equation of the matrix model at Nekrasov-Shatashivili limit. We present the details of analytic structure of the spectral curve for Virasoso symmetry and its extensions, $W$-symmetry and super-symmetry.

Super-spectral curve of irregular conformal blocks

We use super-spectral curve to investigate irregular conformal states of integer and half-odd integer rank. The spectral curve is the loop equation of supersymmetrized irregular matrix model. The case of integer rank corresponds to the colliding limit of supersymmetric vertex operators of NS sector and half-odd integer to the Ramond sectors. The spectral curve is simply integrable at Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit and the partition function (inner product of irregular conformal state) is obtained from the superconformal structure manifest in the spectral curve. We present some explicit forms of the partition function of integer (NS sector) and of half-odd ranks (Ramond sector).

Vertex Operators for Irregular Conformal Blocks: Supersymmetric Case

We construct supersymmetric irregular vertex operators of arbitrary rank, appearing in the colliding limit of primary fields. We find that the structure of the supersymmetric irregular vertices differs significantly from the bosonic case: upon supersymmetrization, the irregular operators are no longer the eigenstates of positive Virasoro and $W_N$ generators but block-diagonalize them. We relate the block-diagonal structure of the irregular vertices to contributions of the Ramond sector to the colliding limit.

Irregular conformal block, spectral curve and flow equations

Irregular conformal block is motivated by the Argyres-Douglas type of N=2 super conformal gauge theory. We investigate the classical/NS limit of the irregular conformal block using spectral curve on a Riemann surface with irregular punctures, which is equivalent to the loop equation of irregular matrix model. The spectral curve is reduced to the second order (Virasoro symmetry, $SU(2)$ for the gauge theory) and third order ($W_3$ symmetry, $SU(3)$) differential equations of a polynomial with finite degree. The Virasoro and W symmetry generate flow equations in the spectral curve and determine the irregular conformal block, hence the partition function of the Argyres-Douglas theory ala AGT conjecture.

Irregular Vertex Operators for Irregular Conformal Blocks

We construct the free field representation of irregular vertex operators of arbitrary rank which generates simultaneous eigenstates of positive modes of Virasoro and W symmetry generators. The irregular vertex operators turn out to be the exponentials of combinations of derivatives of Liouville or Toda fields, creating irregular coherent states. We compute examples of correlation functions of these operators and study their operator algebra.

Irregular matrix model with $\mathcal W$ symmetry

We present the irregular matrix model which has contains $\mathcal{W}_3$ and Virasoro symmetry. The irregular matrix model is obtained using the colliding limit of the Toda field theories and produces the inner product between irregular modules of $\mathcal{W}_3$ symmetry. We evaluate the partition function using the flow equation which is the realization of the Virasoro and $\mathcal{W}$-symmetry.

Classical Virasoro irregular conformal block II

We present a new systematic way to evaluate the classical limit of the Virasoro irregular conformal block for arbitrary rank n based on the irregular partition function. In addition, we prove that the classical irregular conformal block has the exponential form as suggested by A. Zamolodchikov and Al. Zamolodchikov for the regular case. We provide an explicit calculation for the rank 2 case in detail.

Classical Virasoro irregular conformal block

Virasoro irregular conformal block with arbitrary rank is obtained for the classical limit or equivalently Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit using the beta-deformed irregular matrix model (Penner-type matrix model for the irregular conformal block). The same result is derived using the generalized Mathieu equation which is equivalent to the loop equation of the irregular matrix model.

Virasoro irregular conformal block and beta deformed random matrix model

Virasoro irregular conformal block is presented as the expectation value of Jack-polynomials of the beta-deformed Penner-type matrix model and is compared with the inner product of Gaiotto states with arbitrary rank. It is confirmed that there are non-trivial modifications of the Gaiotto states due to the normalization of the states. The relation between the two is explicitly checked for rank 2 irregular conformal block.

Construction of Gaiotto states with fundamental multiplets through Degenerate DAHA

We construct Gaiotto states with fundamental multiplets in $SU(N)$ gauge theories, in terms of the orthonormal basis of spherical degenerate double affine Hecke algebra (SH in short), the representations of which are equivalent to those of $W_n$ algebra with additional $U(1)$ current. The generalized Whittaker conditions are demonstrated under the action of SH, and further rewritten in terms of $W_n$ algebra. Our approach not only consists with the existing literature but also holds for general $SU(N)$ case.
