Light-front holographic $ρ$-meson distributions in the momentum space

We present the leading-twist quark transverse momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) for the spin-1 target, such as the $ρ$-meson, in the light-front framework. Specifically, we predict the TMDs in the light-front holographic model and compare with the light-front quark model predictions. We obtain the TMDs using the overlap of the light-front wave functions. We evaluate the ${\bf k}_\perp$ moments upto second order and compare with the available theoretical predictions. Further, we analyze the leading-twist parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the $ρ$-meson in the light-front holographic model which are found to be in accord with the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model and the light-front quark model predictions. We further study the QCD evolution of the PDFs. The positivity bounds on the TMDs and the PDFs are also discussed. We also present the quark spin densities in the transverse momentum plane for different polarization configurations of the quark and the $ρ$-meson target.

Transverse structure of electron in momentum space in basis light-front quantization

We investigate the leading-twist transverse momentum-dependent distribution functions (TMDs) for a physical electron, a spin-1/2 composite system consisting of a bare electron and a photon, using the Basis Light-front Quantization (BLFQ) framework. The light-front wave functions of the physical electron are obtained from the eigenvectors of the light-front QED Hamiltonian. We evaluate the TMDs using the overlaps of the light-front wave functions. The BLFQ results are found to be in excellent agreement with those TMDs calculated using lowest-order perturbation theory.

Tomography of light mesons in light-cone quark model

We investigate the tomographical structure of pion and kaon in light cone quark model (LCQM). In particular, we study the parton distribution amplitude (PDA) of pion and kaon. We obtain the parton distribution function (PDF) and the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of the pion and kaon. The valence quark PDA and PDF of pion, after QCD evolution, are found to be consistent with the data from the E791 and the E615 experiments at Fermilab, respectively. Further, we investigate the transverse momentum distributions (TMDs) of pion and kaon. We also discuss the unpolarized TMD evolution for pion and kaon in this model.

Light-front holographic radiative transition form factors for light mesons

We predict the $\mathcal{V} \to \mathcal{P} γ$ decay widths and the $\mathcal{V} \to \mathcal{P} γ^{*}$ transition form factors, where $\mathcal{V}=(ρ, ω, K^*, ϕ)$ and $\mathcal{P}= (π,K, η,η^\prime)$, using spin-improved holographic light-front wavefunctions for the mesons. We find excellent agreement with the available data for both the decay widths and the timelike transition form factors extracted from the leptonic conversion decays $\mathcal{V} \to \mathcal{P} l^+ l^-$.

Pion and kaon parton distribution functions from basis light front quantization and QCD evolution

We investigate the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the pion and the kaon by combining quantum chromodynamics (QCD) evolution with the basis light front quantization. The initial PDFs result from the light front wave functions obtained by diagonalizing the effective Hamiltonian consisting of the holographic QCD confinement potential, a complementary longitudinal confinement potential, and the color-singlet Nambu--Jona-Lasinio interactions. The valence-quark PDF of the pion, after QCD evolution, is consistent with the result from the E-0615 experiment at Fermilab. Meanwhile, the pion structure function calculated from the PDFs agrees with the ZEUS and the H1 experiments at DESY-HERA for large $x$. Additionally, the ratio of the up quark PDF of the kaon to that of the pion is in agreement with the NA-003 experiment at CERN. We also present the cross section for the pion-nucleus induced Drell-Yan process with the obtained pion PDFs supplemented by the PDFs of the target nuclei.

Parton Distribution Functions of Heavy Mesons on the Light Front

The parton distribution functions (PDFs) of heavy mesons are evaluated from their light-front wave functions, which are obtained from a basis light-front quantization in the leading Fock sector representation. We consider the mass eigenstates from an effective Hamiltonian consisting of the confining potential adopted from light-front holography in the transverse direction, a longitudinal confinement, and a one-gluon exchange interaction with running coupling. We present the gluon and the sea quark PDFs which we generate dynamically from the QCD evolution of the valence quark distributions.

Pion-nucleus induced Drell-Yan cross section in models inspired by light-front holography

We evaluate the cross section for the pion induced Drell-Yan process in two different models of the pion light-front wave function, inspired by light-front holographic approaches. We obtain the valence quark distribution functions in those models, which after QCD evolution, are consistent with the experimental data from the E-0615 experiment at Fermilab. Supplemented by the parton distribution functions of the target nuclei, we obtain the cross section consistent with the experimental data for the $π^-$ Nucleus $\rightarrow {μ^+μ^-X}$ Drell-Yan process.

Recent Progress in Basis Light-front Quantization

Basis Light-front Quantization (BLFQ) is a nonperturbative approach to quantum field theory. In this paper, we report our recent progress in applying BLFQ to the positronium system in QED and to the meson and the baryon system in QCD. We present preliminary results on the mass spectrum, light-front wave functions and other observables of these systems, where one dynamical gauge boson is retained for the positronium and meson systems.

Three Dimensional Imaging of Proton in Basis Light-Front Quantization

We employ an effective Hamiltonian that includes the transverse and longitudinal confinement and the one-gluon exchange interaction with fixed coupling constant. By solving the eigenvalue equation in basis light-front quantization (BLFQ), we generate the light-front wavefunctions (LFWFs) for the nucleon in the valence quark Fock space. Fitting the model parameters, we obtain high-quality descriptions of electromagnetic form factors and radius for proton while the results deviate somewhat from experimental data for neutron.

Light Meson Parton Distribution Functions from Basis Light-Front Quantization and QCD Evolution

We investigate the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the pion and kaon from the eigenstates of a light-front effective Hamiltonian in the constituent quark-antiquark representation suitable for low-momentum scale applications. By taking these scales as the only free parameters, the valence quark distribution functions of the pion, after QCD evolving, are consistent with the E615 experiment at Fermilab. In addition, the ratio of the up quark distribution in the kaon to that in the pion also agrees with the NA3 experimental result at CERN.

Nucleon form factors from basis light front quantization

We investigate the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon in the framework of basis light front quantization. We compute the form factors using the light front wavefunctions obtained by diagonalizing the effective Hamiltonian consisting of the holographic QCD confinement potential, the longitudinal confinement, and a one-gluon exchange interaction with fixed coupling. The electromagnetic radii of the nucleon are also computed.

Basis light-front quantization approach to nucleon

We obtain the light-front wavefunctions for the nucleon in the valence quark Fock space from an effective Hamiltonian, which includes the transverse and longitudinal confinement and the one-gluon exchange interaction with fixed coupling. The wavefunctions are generated by solving the eigenvalue equation in a basis light-front quantization. Fitting the model parameters, the wavefunctions lead to good simultaneous description of electromagnetic form factors, radii, and parton distribution functions for the proton.

Predicting the light-front holographic TMDs of the pion

We predict the twist-2 Transverse Momentum Dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) of the pion, namely the unpolarized quark TMD, $f_{1}(x, k_\perp)$, and the transversely polarized quark TMD, also known as the Boer-Mulders function, $h^\perp_{1}(x, k_\perp)$, using a holographic light-front pion wavefunction with dynamical spin effects. These spin effects, in conjunction with gluon rescattering, are crucial to predict a non-zero holographic Boer-Mulders function. We investigate the use of a non-perturbative SU(3) gluon rescattering kernel, thus going beyond the usual approximation of perturbative U(1) gluons. We find that the non-perturbative color dynamics offer a more promising way to describe the available lattice data on the generalized Boer-Mulders shifts.

Double parton distributions for a positronium-like bound state using light-front wave functions

We investigate the double parton distributions (DPDs) for a positronium-like bound state using light-front QED. We incorporate the higher Fock three particle component of the state, that includes a photon. We obtain the overlap representation of the DPDs in terms of the three-particle light-front wave functions (LFWFs). Our calculation explores the correlations between the momentum fractions of the particles probed and the transverse distance between them, without any assumption of factorization between them. We also investigate the behavior of the DPDs near the kinematical boundary when the sum of the momentum fractions is close to one.

Parton Distribution Functions from a Light Front Hamiltonian and QCD Evolution for Light Mesons

We obtain the pion and the kaon parton distribution functions from the eigenstates of a light front effective Hamiltonian in the constituent quark-antiquark representation suitable for low-momentum scale applications. By taking these scales as the only free parameters, the valence quark distribution functions of the pion, after QCD evolution, are consistent with the data from the FNAL-E615 experiment. The ratio of the up quark distribution of the kaon to that of the pion also agrees with the CERN-NA3 experiment. Supplemented by known parton distribution functions for the nucleons, we further obtain the cross section consistent with experimental data for the ${π^-\rm{nucleus}}\rightarrow{μ^+μ^-X}$ Drell-Yan process.

Dynamical spin effects within the pseudo scalar nonet within holographic QCD

We investigate the importance of dynamical spin effects in the holographic light-front wavefunctions of the pseudoscalar mesons. We find that these effects are crucial to describe the pion data while they are not necessary to describe the available kaon data. For $η-η^\prime$ system, we find that dynamical spin effects are required to describe their transition form factors data.

Dynamical spin effects in the holographic light-front wavefunctions of light pseudoscalar mesons

We quantify the importance of dynamical spin effects in the holographic light-front wavefunctions of the pion, kaon, $η$ and $η^\prime$. Using a universal AdS/QCD scale and constituent quark masses, we find that such effects are maximal in the pion where they lead to an excellent simultaneous description of a wide range of data: the decay constant, charge radius, spacelike EM and transition form factors, as well as, after QCD evolution, both the parton distribution function and the parton distribution amplitude data from Fermilab. These dynamical spin effects lead up to a $30\%$ chance of finding the valence quark and antiquark with aligned spins in the pion. The situation is very different for the kaon, where a simultaneous description of the available data (decay constant, radius and spacelike EM form factor) prefer no dynamical spin effects at all. The situation is less clear for the $η$ and $η^\prime$: while their radiative decay widths data are consistent with dynamical spin effects only in $η^\prime$, the data on their spacelike transition form factors clearly favor maximal dynamical spin effects in both mesons.
