Two-dimensional MnBX monolayer as promising anode with record-high capacity and fast diffusion for Na-ion battery

Based on the group structure search method of first principles, MnB, MnB2, and MnB6 monolayer two-dimensional systems were designed and their structure, stability, electronic properties, as well as performance as anodes for sodium-ion batteries were examined. The findings indicate that the MnB, MnB2, and MnB6 monolayer two-dimensional systems possess high thermal stability, mechanical stability, dynamic stability, and distinctive metallic properties. When utilized in sodium-ion batteries, these MnB, MnB2, and MnB6 monolayers demonstrate high storage capacity, low diffusion barriers, and moderate open-circuit voltage. Due to its unique structure, the MnB monolayer presents a negative Poisson's ratio and a very low diffusion barrier. The theoretical capacitance of the MnB2 monolayer, when acting as an anode for sodium-ion batteries, exceeds that of the MnB and MnB6 monolayers. The research results reveal that boron-rich two-dimensional electrode materials pave a new way for energy applications. Particularly, MnB2 and MnB6 monolayer two-dimensional systems, as anode materials, incorporate the advantages of both planar and corrugated monolayer structures.

First-Principles Study Lead-Free Halide Double Perovskite Cs2RhAgX6 and Cs2IrAgX6 (X = Cl, Br and I)

In contrast to lead-based perovskites, double perovskites have attracted considerable interest due to their ability to modulate photovoltaic properties and high stability through elemental control. However, most double perovskites are mainly faced with large band gap ranges and indirect band gaps. Here, we report the structural, electronic, and optical properties of the double perovskites Cs2RhAgX6 and Cs2IrAgX6 (X = Cl, Br and I) by first-principles calculations. The results of the thermodynamic stability and electronic properties show that the double perovskites have a higher stability and exhibit a suitable band gap range in the field of optoelectronics, their band gap decrease with the substitution of halogen elements from Cl to I (0.55-2.2 eV). In addition, the double perovskite exhibits strong light absorption. These results suggest a great potential for Cs2RhAgX6 and Cs2IrAgX6 (X = Cl, Br and I) perovskites in optoelectronic applications.

Fusing Multiscale Texture and Residual Descriptors for Multilevel 2D Barcode Rebroadcasting Detection

Nowadays, 2D barcodes have been widely used for advertisement, mobile payment, and product authentication. However, in applications related to product authentication, an authentic 2D barcode can be illegally copied and attached to a counterfeited product in such a way to bypass the authentication scheme. In this paper, we employ a proprietary 2D barcode pattern and use multimedia forensics methods to analyse the scanning and printing artefacts resulting from the copy (rebroadcasting) attack. A diverse and complementary feature set is proposed to quantify the barcode texture distortions introduced during the illegal copying process. The proposed features are composed of global and local descriptors, which characterize the multi-scale texture appearance and the points of interest distribution, respectively. The proposed descriptors are compared against some existing texture descriptors and deep learning-based approaches under various scenarios, such as cross-datasets and cross-size. Experimental results highlight the practicality of the proposed method in real-world settings.
