Bifurcations of highly inclined near halo orbits using Moser regularization

We study the bifurcation structure of highly inclined near halo orbits with close approaches to the light primary, in the circular restricted three-body problem (CR3BP). Using a Hamiltonian formulation together with Moser regularization, we develop a numerical framework for the continuation of periodic orbits and the computation of their Floquet multipliers which remains effective near collision. We describe vertical collision orbits and families emerging from its pitchfork, period-doubling, and period-tripling bifurcations in the limiting Hill's problem, including the halo and butterfly families. We continue these into the CR3BP using a perturbative framework via a symplectic scaling, and construct bifurcation graphs for representative systems (Saturn-Enceladus, Earth-Moon, Copenhagen) to identify common dynamical features. Conley-Zehnder indices are computed to classify the resulting families. Together, these results provide a coherent global picture of polar orbit architecture near the light primary, offering groundwork for future mission design, such as Enceladus plume sampling missions.

Computational symplectic topology and symmetric orbits in the restricted three-body problem

In this paper we propose a computational approach to proving the Birkhoff conjecture on the restricted three-body problem, which asserts the existence of a disk-like global surface of section. Birkhoff had conjectured this surface of section as a tool to prove existence of a direct periodic orbit. Using techniques from validated numerics we prove the existence of an approximately circular direct orbit for a wide range of mass parameters and Jacobi energies. We also provide methods to rigorously compute the Conley-Zehnder index of periodic Hamiltonian orbits using computational tools, thus giving some initial steps for developing computational Floer homology and providing the means to prove the Birkhoff conjecture via symplectic topology. We apply this method to various symmetric orbits in the restricted three-body problem.

Deep learning based ECG segmentation for delineation of diverse arrhythmias

Accurate delineation of key waveforms in an ECG is a critical step in extracting relevant features to support the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions. Although deep learning based methods using segmentation models to locate P, QRS, and T waves have shown promising results, their ability to handle arrhythmias has not been studied in any detail. In this paper we investigate the effect of arrhythmias on delineation quality and develop strategies to improve performance in such cases. We introduce a U-Net-like segmentation model for ECG delineation with a particular focus on diverse arrhythmias. This is followed by a post-processing algorithm which removes noise and automatically determines the boundaries of P, QRS, and T waves. Our model has been trained on a diverse dataset and evaluated against the LUDB and QTDB datasets to show strong performance, with F1-scores exceeding 99% for QRS and T waves, and over 97% for P waves in the LUDB dataset. Furthermore, we assess various models across a wide array of arrhythmias and observe that models with a strong performance on standard benchmarks may still perform poorly on arrhythmias that are underrepresented in these benchmarks, such as tachycardias. We propose solutions to address this discrepancy.
