Surpassing the PLOB bound in continuous-variable quantum secret sharing using a state-discrimination detector

Continuous-variable quantum secret sharing (CVQSS) is a promising approach to ensuring multi-party information security. While CVQSS offers practical ease of implementation, its present performance remains limited. In this paper, we propose a novel CVQSS protocol integrated with a state-discrimination detector (SDD), dubbed SDD-CVQSS. In particular, we first develop the detailed procedure of SDD-CVQSS, which replaces the traditional coherent detector with an SDD and eliminates the long-standing necessary step of establishing multiple point-to-point quantum key distribution links between all users and the dealer. We then elaborate on the principle of the specifically designed SDD, which can efficiently discriminate mixed states with a much lower error probability. Finally, we construct a security model for SDD-CVQSS and derive its security bound against beam-splitting collective attacks. Numerical simulations show that SDD-CVQSS outperforms conventional CVQSS in both maximum transmission distance and secret key rate, even surpassing the PLOB bound. Additionally, we find that the performance degradation of SDD-CVQSS in long-distance transmission scenarios can be effectively compensated for using a post-selection scheme, providing a feasible way to achieve high-performance CVQSS.

Decoding Polyphenol-Protein Interactions with Deep Learning: From Molecular Mechanisms to Food Applications

Polyphenols and proteins are essential biomolecules that influence food functionality and, by extension, human health. Their interactions -- hereafter referred to as PhPIs (polyphenol-protein interactions) -- affect key processes such as nutrient bioavailability, antioxidant activity, and therapeutic efficacy. However, these interactions remain challenging due to the structural diversity of polyphenols and the dynamic nature of protein binding. Traditional experimental techniques like nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS), along with computational tools such as molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD), have offered important insights but face constraints in scalability, throughput, and reproducibility. This review explores how deep learning (DL) is reshaping the study of PhPIs by enabling efficient prediction of binding sites, interaction affinities, and MD using high-dimensional bio- and chem-informatics data. While DL enhances prediction accuracy and reduces experimental redundancy, its effectiveness remains limited by data availability, quality, and representativeness, particularly in the context of natural products. We critically assess current DL frameworks for PhPIs analysis and outline future directions, including multimodal data integration, improved model generalizability, and development of domain-specific benchmark datasets. This synthesis offers guidance for researchers aiming to apply DL in unraveling structure-function relationships of polyphenols, accelerating discovery in nutritional science and therapeutic development.

Benchmarking Ethical and Safety Risks of Healthcare LLMs in China-Toward Systemic Governance under Healthy China 2030

Large Language Models (LLMs) are poised to transform healthcare under China's Healthy China 2030 initiative, yet they introduce new ethical and patient-safety challenges. We present a novel 12,000-item Q&A benchmark covering 11 ethics and 9 safety dimensions in medical contexts, to quantitatively evaluate these risks. Using this dataset, we assess state-of-the-art Chinese medical LLMs (e.g., Qwen 2.5-32B, DeepSeek), revealing moderate baseline performance (accuracy 42.7% for Qwen 2.5-32B) and significant improvements after fine-tuning on our data (up to 50.8% accuracy). Results show notable gaps in LLM decision-making on ethics and safety scenarios, reflecting insufficient institutional oversight. We then identify systemic governance shortfalls-including the lack of fine-grained ethical audit protocols, slow adaptation by hospital IRBs, and insufficient evaluation tools-that currently hinder safe LLM deployment. Finally, we propose a practical governance framework for healthcare institutions (embedding LLM auditing teams, enacting data ethics guidelines, and implementing safety simulation pipelines) to proactively manage LLM risks. Our study highlights the urgent need for robust LLM governance in Chinese healthcare, aligning AI innovation with patient safety and ethical standards.

Building a Human-Verified Clinical Reasoning Dataset via a Human LLM Hybrid Pipeline for Trustworthy Medical AI

Despite strong performance in medical question-answering, the clinical adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs) is critically hampered by their opaque 'black-box' reasoning, limiting clinician trust. This challenge is compounded by the predominant reliance of current medical LLMs on corpora from scientific literature or synthetic data, which often lack the granular expert validation and high clinical relevance essential for advancing their specialized medical capabilities. To address these critical gaps, we introduce a highly clinically relevant dataset with 31,247 medical question-answer pairs, each accompanied by expert-validated chain-of-thought (CoT) explanations. This resource, spanning multiple clinical domains, was curated via a scalable human-LLM hybrid pipeline: LLM-generated rationales were iteratively reviewed, scored, and refined by medical experts against a structured rubric, with substandard outputs revised through human effort or guided LLM regeneration until expert consensus. This publicly available dataset provides a vital source for the development of medical LLMs that capable of transparent and verifiable reasoning, thereby advancing safer and more interpretable AI in medicine.

On the robust isolated calmness of a class of nonsmooth optimizations on Riemannian manifolds and its applications

This paper studies the robust isolated calmness property of the KKT solution mapping of a class of nonsmooth optimization problems on Riemannian manifolds. The manifold versions of the Robinson constraint qualification, the strict Robinson constraint qualification, and the second order conditions are defined and discussed. We show that the robust isolated calmness of the KKT solution mapping is equivalent to satisfying the M-SRCQ and M-SOSC conditions. Furthermore, under the above two conditions, we show that the Riemannian augmented Lagrangian method achieves a local linear convergence rate. Finally, we verify the proposed conditions and demonstrate the convergence rate on two minimization problems over the sphere and the manifold of fixed rank matrices.

Integral formulas and Teodorescu transform for generalized partial-slice monogenic functions

The theory of generalized partial-slice monogenic functions is considered as a syhthesis of the classical Clifford analysis and the theory of slice monogenic functions. In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy integral formula and the Plemelj formula for generalized partial-slice monogenic functions. Further, we study some properties of the Teodorescu transform in this context. A norm estimation for the Teodorescu transform is discussed as well.

Generalized Π-operator in the theory of slice monogenic functions and applications

The Π-operator plays an important role in complex analysis, especially in the theory of generalized analytic functions in the sense of Vekua. In this paper, we introduce a generalized Π-operator in the theory of slice monogenic functions, and some mapping properties of the generalized Π-operator are also introduced. Further, a left and right inverse and the adjoint operator of the generalized Π-operator are given. As an application, we introduce a slice Beltrami equation, which reduces to the classical complex Beltrami equation when the dimension is 2. We show details that the norm estimate of the generalized Π-operator can determine the existence of solutions of the slice Beltrami equation.

Teodorescu transform for slice monogenic functions and applications

In the past few years, the theory of slice monogenic functions has been developed rapidly mainly motivated by the applications to an elegant functional calculus for non-commuting operators. In this article, we introduce the Teodorescu transform in the theory of slice monogenic functions, which turns out to be the right inverse of a slice Cauchy-Riemann operator. The boundednesses of the Teodorescu transform and its derivatives are investigated as well. A Hodge decomposition of the $\mathcal{L}^p$ space and a generalized Bergman projection are introduced at the end as applications.

Quantum machine learning for multiclass classification beyond kernel methods

Quantum machine learning is considered one of the current research fields with immense potential. In recent years, Havlíček et al. [Nature 567, 209-212 (2019)] have proposed a quantum machine learning algorithm with quantum-enhanced feature spaces, which effectively addressed a binary classification problem on a superconducting processor and offered a potential pathway to achieving quantum advantage. However, a straightforward binary classification algorithm falls short in solving multiclass classification problems. In this paper, we propose a quantum algorithm that rigorously demonstrates that quantum kernel methods enhance the efficiency of multiclass classification in real-world applications, providing quantum advantage. To demonstrate quantum advantage, we design six distinct quantum kernels within the quantum algorithm to map input data into quantum state spaces and estimate the corresponding quantum kernel matrices. The results from quantum simulations reveal that the quantum algorithm outperforms its classical counterpart in handling six real-world multiclass classification problems. Furthermore, we leverage a variety of performance metrics to comprehensively evaluate the classification and generalization performance of the quantum algorithm. The results demonstrate that the quantum algorithm achieves superior classification and better generalization performance relative to classical counterparts.

A quadratically convergent semismooth Newton method for nonlinear semidefinite programming without generalized Jacobian regularity

We introduce a quadratically convergent semismooth Newton method for nonlinear semidefinite programming that eliminates the need for the generalized Jacobian regularity, a common yet stringent requirement in existing approaches. Our strategy involves identifying a single nonsingular element within the Bouligand generalized Jacobian, thus avoiding the standard requirement for nonsingularity across the entire generalized Jacobian set, which is often too restrictive for practical applications. The theoretical framework is supported by introducing the weak second order condition (W-SOC) and the weak strict Robinson constraint qualification (W-SRCQ). These conditions not only guarantee the existence of a nonsingular element in the generalized Jacobian but also forge a primal-dual connection in linearly constrained convex quadratic programming. The theoretical advancements further lay the foundation for the algorithmic design of a novel semismooth Newton method, which integrates a correction step to address degenerate issues. Particularly, this correction step ensures the local convergence as well as a superlinear/quadratic convergence rate of the proposed method. Preliminary numerical experiments corroborate our theoretical findings and underscore the practical effectiveness of our method.

Invariance of iterated global differential operator for slice monogenic functions

In this article, we present the symmetry group of a global slice Dirac operator and its iterated ones. Further, the explicit forms of intertwining operators of the iterated global slice Dirac operator are given. At the end, we introduce a variant of the global slice Dirac operator, which allows functions considered to be defined on the whole Euclidean space. The invariance property and the intertwining operators of this variant of the global slice Dirac operator are also presented.

Some properties and integral transforms in higher spin Clifford analysis

Rarita-Schwinger equation plays an important role in theoretical physics. Bure\v s et al. generalized it to arbitrary spin $k/2$ in 2002 in the context of Clifford algebras. In this article, we introduce the mean value property, Cauchy's estimates, and Liouville's theorem for null solutions to Rarita-Schwinger operator in Euclidean spaces. Further, we investigate boundednesses to the Teodorescu transform and its derivatives. This gives rise to a Hodge decomposition of an $L^2$ spaces in terms of the kernel space of the Rarita-Schwinger operator and it also generalizes Bergman spaces in higher spin cases. \end{abstract}

Diffusion-Driven Self-Supervised Learning for Shape Reconstruction and Pose Estimation

Fully-supervised category-level pose estimation aims to determine the 6-DoF poses of unseen instances from known categories, requiring expensive mannual labeling costs. Recently, various self-supervised category-level pose estimation methods have been proposed to reduce the requirement of the annotated datasets. However, most methods rely on synthetic data or 3D CAD model for self-supervised training, and they are typically limited to addressing single-object pose problems without considering multi-objective tasks or shape reconstruction. To overcome these challenges and limitations, we introduce a diffusion-driven self-supervised network for multi-object shape reconstruction and categorical pose estimation, only leveraging the shape priors. Specifically, to capture the SE(3)-equivariant pose features and 3D scale-invariant shape information, we present a Prior-Aware Pyramid 3D Point Transformer in our network. This module adopts a point convolutional layer with radial-kernels for pose-aware learning and a 3D scale-invariant graph convolution layer for object-level shape representation, respectively. Furthermore, we introduce a pretrain-to-refine self-supervised training paradigm to train our network. It enables proposed network to capture the associations between shape priors and observations, addressing the challenge of intra-class shape variations by utilising the diffusion mechanism. Extensive experiments conducted on four public datasets and a self-built dataset demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art self-supervised category-level baselines and even surpasses some fully-supervised instance-level and category-level methods.

Bosonic Laplacians in higher spin Clifford analysis

In this article, we firstly introduce higher spin Clifford analysis, which are considered as generalizations of classical Clifford analysis by considering functions taking values in irreducible representations of the spin group. Then, we introduce a type of second order conformally invariant differential operators, named as bosonic Laplacians, in the higher spin Clifford analysis. In particular, we will show their close connections to classical Maxwell equations. At the end, we will introduce a new perspective to define bosonic Laplacians, which simplifies the connection between bosonic Laplacians and Rarita-Schwinger type operators obtained before. Moreover, a matrix type Rarita-Schwinger operator is obtained and some results related to this new first order matrix type operator are provided.

Video Frame Interpolation with Stereo Event and Intensity Camera

The stereo event-intensity camera setup is widely applied to leverage the advantages of both event cameras with low latency and intensity cameras that capture accurate brightness and texture information. However, such a setup commonly encounters cross-modality parallax that is difficult to be eliminated solely with stereo rectification especially for real-world scenes with complex motions and varying depths, posing artifacts and distortion for existing Event-based Video Frame Interpolation (E-VFI) approaches. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel Stereo Event-based VFI (SE-VFI) network (SEVFI-Net) to generate high-quality intermediate frames and corresponding disparities from misaligned inputs consisting of two consecutive keyframes and event streams emitted between them. Specifically, we propose a Feature Aggregation Module (FAM) to alleviate the parallax and achieve spatial alignment in the feature domain. We then exploit the fused features accomplishing accurate optical flow and disparity estimation, and achieving better interpolated results through flow-based and synthesis-based ways. We also build a stereo visual acquisition system composed of an event camera and an RGB-D camera to collect a new Stereo Event-Intensity Dataset (SEID) containing diverse scenes with complex motions and varying depths. Experiments on public real-world stereo datasets, i.e., DSEC and MVSEC, and our SEID dataset demonstrate that our proposed SEVFI-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods by a large margin.

Strong Variational Sufficiency for Nonlinear Semidefinite Programming and its Implications

Strong variational sufficiency is a newly proposed property, which turns out to be of great use in the convergence analysis of multiplier methods. However, what this property implies for non-polyhedral problems remains a puzzle. In this paper, we prove the equivalence between the strong variational sufficiency and the strong second order sufficient condition (SOSC) for nonlinear semidefinite programming (NLSDP), without requiring the uniqueness of multiplier or any other constraint qualifications. Based on this characterization, the local convergence property of the augmented Lagrangian method (ALM) for NLSDP can be established under strong SOSC in the absence of constraint qualifications. Moreover, under the strong SOSC, we can apply the semi-smooth Newton method to solve the ALM subproblems of NLSDP as the positive definiteness of the generalized Hessian of augmented Lagrangian function is satisfied.

An Optimization Study of Diversification Return Portfolios

The concept of Diversification Return (DR) was introduced by Booth and Fama in 1990s and it has been well studied in the finance literature mainly focusing on the various sources it may be generated. However, unlike the classical Mean-Variance (MV) model of Markowitz, DR portfolios lack optimization theory for justifying their often outstanding empirical performance. In this paper, we first explain what the DR criterion tries to achieve in terms of portfolio centrality. A consequence of this explanation is that practically imposed norm constraints in fact implicitly enforce constraints on DR. We then derive the maximum DR portfolio under given risk and obtain the efficient DR frontier. We further develop a separation theorem for this frontier and establish a relationship between the DR frontier and Markowitz MV efficient frontier. In the particular case where the variance vector is proportional to the expected return vector of the underlining assets, the two frontiers yield same efficient portfolios. The proof techniques heavily depend on recently developed geometric interpretation of the maximum DR portfolio. Finally, we use DAX30 stock data to illustrate the obtained results and demonstrate an interesting link to the maximum diversification ratio portfolio studied by Choueifaty and Coignard.

Efficient Extraction of Hot Carriers in Perovskite Quantum Dot through Building State Coupled Complex

Utilizing hot carriers is the crucial approach for solar cell to exceed the thermodynamic detailed balance limit, yet effective extraction of hot carriers in absorber materials via most commonly used semiconductor acceptors has been a challenge in both materials and photophysics research for many years. Herein, we build series of CsPbI3 quantum dot and fullerene derivative systems to explore the decisive factors of this process and have for the first time realized efficient hot carrier extraction in these systems (maximum extraction efficiency ~ 84%). We find building the systems as state-coupled complexes creates new carrier transport channels at about 0.22 eV above CsPbI3 quantum dot bandgap, which facilitates highly efficient HC extraction. Our research directly visualizes the inner connection of molecule interaction and ultrafast hot carrier extraction. The knowledge and strategy gained here are of universal meaning, taking an important step forward true hot carrier photovoltaics.
