TimeSteer: Inference-Time Speech Scheduling in Joint Audio-Visual Diffusion Models

Although pretrained joint audio-visual diffusion models offer rich control over \emph{what} to generate, they provide no explicit control over \emph{when} an utterance should occur. To address this, we study \emph{inference-time speech scheduling}, a novel task that places coupled speech and visual articulation within user-specified begin--end intervals without finetuning the backbone model. We uncover two intrinsic properties of the denoising process that enable this task. First, a timing-sensitive text-to-audio cross-attention head exposes each utterance's model-implied source span along the latent timeline. Second, the predicted clean latent already organizes coupled speech and visual articulation, allowing their temporal placement to be edited without regenerating the content. Building on these discoveries, we propose \textbf{TimeSteer}, a training-free framework that localizes each utterance's source span through \textbf{Source Span Localization} and transfers the associated audio-visual latent content from the source interval to the specified target interval through \textbf{Region-Aware Latent Remapping}. We further introduce \textbf{SpeechShift}, the first benchmark for interval-level speech scheduling in joint audio-visual generation. Experiments across two representative backbones show that TimeSteer substantially improves interval controllability over training-free baselines while maintaining competitive overall generation quality.

Self-induced crystalline fluctuation spin-glass state in Mn7C3 binary compounds

Crystalline spin glasses are attractive compounds owing to their unique nature and applications. Here, we synthesised a bulk Pnma-type Mn7C3 spin glass by a high-temperature, high-pressure method. Experimental characterisation including X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements demonstrated that the compound has a triangular Ising-model-based structure, high freezing temperature of 37.4 K, and novel competition mechanism. Theoretical calculations and simulations revealed that the triangular Mn units are spontaneously frustrated and bridge neighbouring Mn units via polarised C atoms and messenger Mn atoms. Triangular C units each share one electron within a three-pronged electron cloud. This electron is the direct cause of frustration and competition in Mn7C3. The competition within the triangular Mn units suggests that the possible magnetic configurations are highly degenerate and that the Mn7C3 spin glass has high robustness. This work introduces a new family of spin glasses with ordered microgeometries that drive electronic structure disorder, and an application-friendly spin-glass material for use in fields like high-efficiency hardware and algorithm design in artificial intelligence.

LPM: Industrial-Scale Generative Video Restoration

We present the Large Processing Model (LPM), a diffusion-based generative framework for photorealistic video restoration under complex, in-the-wild degradations. To our knowledge, LPM is the first generative video restoration model deployed at industrial scale. LPM addresses the diverse degradations in user-generated content (UGC) through a unified system encompassing large-scale data engineering, foundation-model training, and efficient inference. Its enhanced architecture, progressive training strategy, and temporal-pyramid inference mechanism jointly enable high-fidelity, temporally consistent restoration of arbitrarily long videos across the broad content distribution encountered on UGC platforms. LPM has been deployed in production at Kuaishou, where videos processed by the model account for approximately 45% of total viewing time, delivering consistent improvements across key quality-of-experience metrics. Beyond perceptual enhancement, LPM delivers substantial system-level benefits: at comparable perceptual quality, it reduces bitrate by 20% relative to Kuaishou's in-house codec, yielding annual bandwidth cost savings on the order of hundreds of millions. Its low serving cost also enables integration into products such as Kling, demonstrating that generative restoration can be practical, scalable, and cost-effective for large-scale video processing.

Silicon-compatible ideal antiferroelectricity with large digital electromechanical responses enabled by thermal-strain domain engineering

Antiferroelectrics exhibit reversible antipolar-polar transformations, offering a compelling platform for multiple functionalities in modern nanoelectronics, yet deterministic control of antiferroelectric domains and switching pathways remain elusive. Moreover, their integration with ubiquitous silicon-based electronic devices has been limited by the structural and chemical incompatibilities of conventional oxide platforms. Here, we convert the conventional drawback of thermal mismatch into a functional advantage and realize ideal antiferroelectricity in epitaxial PbZrO3 thin films on silicon through thermal tensile-strain engineering, a strain regime unattainable on conventional perovskite substrates. Combined theoretical and experimental studies show that tensile strain stabilizes the (004)o domain, enabling a direct one-step switching, whereas compressive-strain-stabilized (240)o domains switch through intermediate ferrielectric states. The resulting films exhibit near-zero remanent polarization, square double hysteresis, nanosecond switching (~75ns), large reversible electrostrain (~0.6%) and robust operation windows. These findings provide key insights into domain-engineered ideal antiferroelectricity on silicon, opening a viable route toward high-performance antiferroelectric nano-electronic devices.

Unlocking Cryogenic Energy Storage by Constructing Dipole Glass with Unit-cell-level Polar Disorder

Cryogenic energy storage is vital for frontier technologies including deep-space exploration and quantum computing, yet conventional electrochemical energy systems fail below ~230 K due to frozen ion migration. While relaxor-based dielectric capacitors provide high efficiency at room temperature, the intrinsic freezing/growth of polar nanodomains at extended cryogenic regime limits their applications with deteriorated hysteresis losses. Here, we realize superior cryogenic energy-storage performance by designing unit-cell-level disordered dipole-glass state in Pb0.6Sr0.4ZrO3 thin films with composition near antiferroelectric-paraelectric phase boundary. The antiferroelectric-derived dipole-glass introduces enhanced unit-cell-level complexity of dipole interaction that suppresses long-range ferroelectric order. This enables ultralow-hysteresis operation (efficiency > 88%) down to 4 K, delivering record-high energy density (211 J/cm^3) at 9 MV/cm, stability over 10^8 charge/discharge cycles and microsecond-scale charge/discharge capability. This work establishes a dipole-glass paradigm for cryogenic dielectric capacitors, opening a new avenue to highly-efficient energy-storage systems with broad applications in frontier nanoelectronics.

Event-Adaptive Motion Planning with Distilled Vision-Language Model in Safety-Critical Situations

Robot navigation in safety-critical scenarios faces significant challenges from unforeseen semantic events, where collisions arise primarily from the unpredictable behaviors of dynamic agents rather than unseen objects. While large vision-language models (VLMs) offer remarkable capabilities in commonsense reasoning, frequently invoking them within the continuous control loop introduces severe computational latency, fundamentally destabilizing physical execution. To address these challenges, we propose event-adaptive motion planning (EAMP), an efficient framework for VLM-based robot navigation. Specifically, a prompt-configurable semantic event trigger (PC-SET) selectively activates semantic intervention by continuously monitoring short temporal clips for behavioral anomalies. Upon triggering, an event-triggered distilled SemNav-VLM, fine-tuned via physically verified semantic distillation, maps detected anomalies into discrete strategy-level decisions. Subsequently, a semantic model predictive control (SMPC) module translates these strategies into dynamic reconfigurations of optimization objectives and geometric references. Extensive experiments in safety-critical logistics scenarios demonstrate that EAMP effectively aligns high-level reasoning with low-level control, significantly improving dynamic safety margins over existing baselines while preserving real-time efficiency.

Trace2Policy: From Expert Behavior Traces to Self-Evolving Decision Agents

Decision rules that enterprise experts apply tacitly -- in auditing, compliance, and contract review -- can be systematically recovered and improved through iterative error analysis. We present \textbf{Trace2Policy}, whose core mechanism -- \textbf{EISR} (\textbf{E}rror-driven \textbf{I}terative \textbf{S}kill \textbf{R}efinement) -- maintains a human-readable rule document as its optimization target: each round executes the rules on a validation set, clusters errors by root cause into MISSING, WRONG, or CONFLICT types, applies targeted patches, and commits only those that pass a regression gate. \textbf{For this class of compliance-sensitive, skewed-base-rate decision tasks, we identify rule quality -- not model capability -- as the dominant performance lever}: across five LLMs, one-shot distillation plateaus near $\sim$70\% on the deployed pool, while eight EISR rounds lift the same rules to 79.6\% when compiled into deterministic Python -- zero LLM calls at inference. \textbf{Execution form compounds the gain: in production, the same EISR-refined content runs 9.8~pp higher as compiled Python than as an LLM prompt, a form-and-engineering bundle the 22-day deployment matured together.} Deployed for 22 days at a major logistics carrier (3,349 audit cases), the compiled pipeline outperforms the pure-LLM baseline it replaced (72.7\%); on these calibrated, skewed-base-rate workloads, re-enabling LLM fallback monotonically degrades accuracy. An LLM-driven variant, \textbf{Auto-EISR}, reproduces this refinement at \$5--\$10 per cycle versus $\sim$70 expert-hours, and transfers to four public benchmarks spanning legal reasoning (LegalBench) and process-mining decisions (BPIC 2012) without re-engineering.

Coloring the Noise: Adversarial Sobolev Alignment for Faithful Image Super Resolution

Generative priors in Image Super-Resolution (SR) often compromise faithful restoration, we attribute this limitation to a fundamental spectral misalignment between isotropic objectives and the intrinsic natural image manifold. While Direct Preference Optimization offers a path to alignment, its reliance on spectrally flat Gaussian noise fails to distinguish authentic high-frequency details from hallucinations. To bridge this geometric gap, we propose ASASR, a theoretically grounded framework that recasts the generative flow into a Sobolev-induced Riemannian geometry by explicitly coloring the noise transition kernel to mirror natural spectral decay. Driving this geometric alignment, we integrate a parametric adversary grounded in the Riesz Representation Theorem, which synthesizes targeted negative samples equivalent to worst-case Sobolev gradients to direct optimization along the tangent space of plausible structural failures. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that ASASR outperforms leading generative baselines, particularly in preserving spectral consistency and structural fidelity, offering a robust solution that effectively mitigates artifacts.

Expand More, Shrink Less: Shaping Effective-Rank Dynamics for Dense Scaling in Recommendation

Scaling recommendation models is a central challenge in recommender systems. Recently, RankMixer has emerged as an effective solution, operating on a unified token representation and alternating between token mixing and per-token feedforward networks (P-FFNs) to achieve scalable performance. However, RankMixer suffers from \textit{embedding collapse}, where learned representations have low effective rank, limiting expressivity and underutilizing the expanded representation space. Through empirical analysis and theoretical insights, we identify rigid token mixing and P-FFN modules as the primary causes of this phenomenon, jointly inducing a \textbf{damped oscillatory trajectory} in effective-rank evolution across layers. To address it, we propose RankElastor, a novel architecture that produces spectrum-robust representations with provable collapse mitigation. RankElastor introduces two components: (i) \textbf{parameterized full mixing}, which enables expressive token mixing with improved spectral robustness; and (ii) \textbf{GLU-improved P-FFNs}, which stabilize representation spectra through GLU-style FFN modules. Extensive experiments on large-scale industrial datasets demonstrate that RankElastor consistently improves recommendation performance, mitigates embedding collapse, and exhibits robust scaling behavior. Simpson's Paradox in Behavioral Curves: How Aggregation Distorts Parametric Models of User Dynamics

Behavioral curve modeling -- fitting parametric functions to engagement-versus-exposure data -- is standard practice in recommendation, advertising, and clinical dosing. We show that aggregation introduces a systematic distortion: Simpson's paradox in behavioral curves. On Goodreads (3.3M users, 9 genres), individual users peak at n* approximately 11 exposures while the aggregate peaks at n* approximately 34 -- a 3x gap driven by survival bias. Amazon Electronics (18M reviews) shows a 5.3x distortion. MovieLens-25M (D approximately 1) serves as a negative control, confirming that survival bias -- not aggregation per se -- is the operative mechanism. The distortion is robust to category granularity, engagement operationalization, and classifier calibration. We develop Synthetic Null Calibration to address a 32% false positive rate in per-user classification. Our findings apply wherever individual behavioral parameters are estimated from aggregate curves under differential attrition.

RankUp: Towards High-rank Representations for Large Scale Advertising Recommender Systems

The scaling laws for recommender systems have been increasingly validated, where MetaFormer-based architectures consistently benefit from increased model depth, hidden dimensionality, and user behavior sequence length. However, whether representation capacity scales proportionally with parameter growth remains unexplored. Prior studies on RankMixer reveal that the effective rank of token representations exhibits a damped oscillatory trajectory across layers, failing to increase consistently with depth and even degrading in deeper layers. Motivated by this observation, we propose RankUp, an architecture designed to mitigate representation collapse and enhance expressive capacity through randomized permutation splitting over sparse features, a multi-embedding paradigm, global token integration and crossed pretrained embedding tokens. RankUp has been fully deployed in large-scale production across Weixin Video Accounts, Official Accounts and Moments, yielding GMV improvements of 3.41%, 4.81% and 2.12%, respectively.

NTIRE 2026 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Restoration in the Wild with Generative Models: Datasets, Methods and Results

This paper presents an overview of the NTIRE 2026 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Restoration in the Wild with Generative Models. This challenge utilizes a new short-form UGC (S-UGC) video restoration benchmark, termed KwaiVIR, which is contributed by USTC and Kuaishou Technology. It contains both synthetically distorted videos and real-world short-form UGC videos in the wild. For this edition, the released data include 200 synthetic training videos, 48 wild training videos, 11 validation videos, and 20 testing videos. The primary goal of this challenge is to establish a strong and practical benchmark for restoring short-form UGC videos under complex real-world degradations, especially in the emerging paradigm of generative-model-based S-UGC video restoration. This challenge has two tracks: (i) the primary track is a subjective track, where the evaluation is based on a user study; (ii) the second track is an objective track. These two tracks enable a comprehensive assessment of restoration quality. In total, 95 teams have registered for this competition. And 12 teams submitted valid final solutions and fact sheets for the testing phase. The submitted methods achieved strong performance on the KwaiVIR benchmark, demonstrating encouraging progress in short-form UGC video restoration in the wild.

Tencent Advertising Algorithm Challenge 2025: All-Modality Generative Recommendation

Generative recommender systems are rapidly emerging as a new paradigm for recommendation, where collaborative identifiers and/or multi-modal content are mapped into discrete token spaces and user behavior is modelled with autoregressive sequence models. Despite progress on multi-modal recommendation datasets, there is still a lack of public benchmarks that jointly offer large-scale, realistic and fully all-modality data designed specifically for generative recommendation (GR) in industrial advertising. To foster research in this direction, we organised the Tencent Advertising Algorithm Challenge 2025, a global competition built on top of two all-modality datasets for GR: TencentGR-1M and TencentGR-10M. Both datasets are constructed from real de-identified Tencent Ads logs and contain rich collaborative IDs and multi-modal representations extracted with state-of-the-art embedding models. The preliminary track (TencentGR-1M) provides 1 million user sequences with up to 100 interacted items each, where each interaction is labeled with exposure and click signals, while the final track (TencentGR-10M) scales this to 10 million users and explicitly distinguishes between click and conversion events at both the sequence and target level. This paper presents the task definition, data construction process, feature schema, baseline GR model, evaluation protocol, and key findings from top-ranked and award-winning solutions. Our datasets focus on multi-modal sequence generation in an advertising setting and introduce weighted evaluation for high-value conversion events. We release our datasets at https://huggingface.co/datasets/TAAC2025 and baseline implementations at https://github.com/TencentAdvertisingAlgorithmCompetition/baseline_2025 to enable future research on all-modality generative recommendation at an industrial scale. Pioneering Perceptual Video Fluency Assessment: A Novel Task with Benchmark Dataset and Baseline

Accurately estimating humans' subjective feedback on video fluency, e.g., motion consistency and frame continuity, is crucial for various applications like streaming and gaming. Yet, it has long been overlooked, as prior arts have focused on solving it in the video quality assessment (VQA) task, merely as a sub-dimension of overall quality. In this work, we conduct pilot experiments and reveal that current VQA predictions largely underrepresent fluency, thereby limiting their applicability. To this end, we pioneer Video Fluency Assessment (VFA) as a standalone perceptual task focused on the temporal dimension. To advance VFA research, 1) we construct a fluency-oriented dataset, FluVid, comprising 4,606 in-the-wild videos with balanced fluency distribution, featuring the first-ever scoring criteria and human study for VFA. 2) We develop a large-scale benchmark of 23 methods, the most comprehensive one thus far on FluVid, gathering insights for VFA-tailored model designs. 3) We propose a baseline model called FluNet, which deploys temporal permuted self-attention (T-PSA) to enrich input fluency information and enhance long-range inter-frame interactions. Our work not only achieves state-of-the-art performance but, more importantly, offers the community a roadmap to explore solutions for VFA.

Near-field Beam Training under Multi-path Channels: A Hybrid Learning-and-Optimization Approach

For extremely large-scale arrays (XL-arrays), the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) codebook, conventionally used in the far-field, has recently been employed for near-field beam training. However, most existing methods rely on the line-of-sight (LoS) dominant channel assumption, which may suffer degraded communication performance when applied to the general multi-path scenario due to the more complex received signal power pattern at the user. To address this issue, we propose in this paper a new hybrid learning-and-optimization-based beam training method that first leverages deep learning (DL) to obtain coarse channel parameter estimates, and then refines them via a model-based optimization algorithm, hence achieving high-accuracy estimation with low computational complexity. Specifically, in the first stage, a tailored U-Net architecture is developed to learn the non-linear mapping from the received power pattern to coarse estimates of the angles and ranges of multi-path components. In particular, the inherent permutation ambiguity in multi-path parameter matching is effectively resolved by a permutation invariant training (PIT) strategy, while the unknown number of paths is estimated based on defined path existence logits. In the second stage, we further propose an efficient particle swarm optimization method to refine the angular and range parameters within a confined search region; in the meanwhile, a Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm is used to retrieve multi-path channel gains from the received power pattern. Last, numerical results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid design significantly outperforms various benchmarks in terms of parameter estimation accuracy and achievable rate, yet with low computational complexity.

Tuning Real-World Image Restoration at Inference: A Test-Time Scaling Paradigm for Flow Matching Models

Although diffusion-based real-world image restoration (Real-IR) has achieved remarkable progress, efficiently leveraging ultra-large-scale pre-trained text-to-image (T2I) models and fully exploiting their potential remain significant challenges. To address this issue, we propose ResFlow-Tuner, an image restoration framework based on the state-of-the-art flow matching model, FLUX.1-dev, which integrates unified multi-modal fusion (UMMF) with test-time scaling (TTS) to achieve unprecedented restoration performance. Our approach fully leverages the advantages of the Multi-Modal Diffusion Transformer (MM-DiT) architecture by encoding multi-modal conditions into a unified sequence that guides the synthesis of high-quality images. Furthermore, we introduce a training-free test-time scaling paradigm tailored for image restoration. During inference, this technique dynamically steers the denoising direction through feedback from a reward model (RM), thereby achieving significant performance gains with controllable computational overhead. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance across multiple standard benchmarks. This work not only validates the powerful capabilities of the flow matching model in low-level vision tasks but, more importantly, proposes a novel and efficient inference-time scaling paradigm suitable for large pre-trained models.

Mitigating Mixed-field Interference in Near-field and Far-field Communications: An Antenna Selection Approach

In mixed near-field and far-field systems, the nonorthogonality between near-field and far-field channels may cause severe inter-user interference and hence degrade rate performance, when the analog beamforming is designed based on the low-complexity full-array maximum ratio transmission (MRT). To tackle this issue, we propose in this paper an antenna selection-based transmission framework to effectively suppress mixed-field interference without mechanically altering antenna structures. To this end, an optimization problem is formulated to maximize the sum-rate of mixed-field systems, by jointly designing antenna selection and power allocation under the MRT-based analog beamforming. As the problem is non-convex and generally difficult to solve optimally, we first consider a typical two-user scenario to obtain useful insights. Interestingly, we analytically show that the strong mixed-field interference can be substantially mitigated by deactivating only a small portion of antennas, yet without compromising array gains too much. Moreover, an inherent tradeoff is revealed in antenna selection between interference suppression and array-gain enhancement, based on which a suboptimal number of deactivated antennas for achieving the maximum sum-rate is obtained. Next, for the general multi-user case, we develop an efficient penalty dual decomposition (PDD)-based two-layer framework to obtain its high quality solution by using the block coordinate descent (BCD) and successive convex approximation (SCA) techniques. To further reduce the computational complexity, a low-complexity antenna deactivation strategy is proposed capitalizing on an interference suppression criterion. Last, numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves a favorable trade-off between interference suppression and array gain loss, hence achieving significant performance gains over various baseline schemes.

Bridging Domains through Subspace-Aware Model Merging

Model merging integrates multiple task-specific models into a single consolidated one. Recent research has made progress in improving merging performance for in-distribution or multi-task scenarios, but domain generalization in model merging remains underexplored. We investigate how merging models fine-tuned on distinct domains affects generalization to unseen domains. Through an analysis of parameter competition in the task matrix using singular value decomposition, we show that merging models trained under different distribution shifts induces stronger conflicts between their subspaces compared to traditional multi-task settings. To mitigate this issue, we propose SCORE (Subspace COnflict-Resolving mErging), a method designed to alleviate such singular subspace conflicts. SCORE finds a shared orthogonal basis by computing the principal components of the concatenated leading singular vectors of all models. It then projects each task matrix into the shared basis, pruning off-diagonal components to remove conflicting singular directions. SCORE consistently outperforms, on average, existing model merging approaches in domain generalization settings across a variety of architectures and model scales, demonstrating its effectiveness and scalability.
