Recently observed $P_c$ as molecular states and possible mixture of $P_c(4457)$

Recently observed spectrum of $P_c$ states exhibits a strong link to $Σ_c \bar{D}^{(*)}$ thresholds. In spite of successful molecular interpretations, we still push forward to wonder whether there exist finer structures. Utilizing the effecitve lagrangians respecting heavy quark symmetry and chiral symmetry, as well as instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equations, we investigate the $Σ_c \bar{D}^{(*)}$ interactions and three $P_c$ states. We confirm that $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)$ are good candidates of $Σ_c \bar{D}$ and $Σ_c \bar{D}^{*}$ molecules with spin-$\frac12$, respectively. Unlike other molecular calculations, our results indicate $P_c(4457)$ signal might be a mixture of spin-$\frac32$ and spin-$\frac12$ $Σ_c \bar{D}^{*}$ molecules, where the latter one appears to be an excitation of $P_c(4440)$. Therefore we conclude that, confronting three LHCb $P_c$ signals, there may exist not three, but four molecular states.

A proposal on complementary determination of the electro-weak mixing angles ${\rm sin^2θ_W}$ at a super Z-factory

A proposal on determination of the effective electro-weak mixing angle ${\rm sin^2θ_{eff}^f\;(f=c,b)}$ at a super Z-factory (an $e^+e^-$ collider designed with the possible highest luminosity and running around the center mass energy $\sqrt s=m_Z$) is proposed. It is to determine how the effective mixing angles depend on the flavors, especially the flavors $c$, $b$ (with the determined effective ones, the electro-weak mixing angles ${\rm sin^2θ_W^f\;(f=c,b)}$ of Standard Model can be derived out precisely). The key point of the proposal is that at such a super Z-factory, via measuring the forward-backward ($A_{FB}$), left-right ($A_{LR}$) and combined left-right forward-backward ($A^{FB}_{LR}$) asymmetries of the produced doubly heavy-flavored hadrons (such as $B_c$, $B_c^*$ and the baryons $H_{QQ'q}$: $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{bc}$ and $Ξ_{bb}$ etc) in the relevant production processes $e^+e^-\to B_c+\cdots$ and $e^+e^-\to H_{QQ'q}+\cdots$ one may complement the final determination of the mixing angle ${\rm sin^2θ_W^f\;(f=c,b)}$ of Standard Model. The advantage of the proposed way to determine the effective electro-weak mixing angles is that the doubly heavy flavor(s) and the out-going direction of the produced doubly-heavy hadron can be experimental determined precisely, i.e. there are no such errors caused by missing identification of the heavy flavor(s) and by determining the so-called thrust axis of the produced jets, which can not be avoided in the early determination at LEP-I and SLC.

The QCD NLO fragmentation functions for $c$ or $\bar{b}$ quark to $B_c$ or $B_c^*$ meson and their application

The fragmentation functions for $c$ or $\bar{b}$ quark to $B_c$ or $B_c^*$ meson are derived up to QCD next-to-leading order (NLO). They are further computed numerically and presented in figures precisely. In order to reach a higher accuracy, we have also tried properly to apply them to estimating the $B_c$ and $B_c^*$ production at a $Z$-factory (an $e^+e^-$ collider running at the energy of the $Z$-boson pole).

The mass spectra and wave functions for the doubly heavy baryons with $J^P=1^+$ heavy diquark core

The mass spectra and wave functions for the doubly heavy baryons are computed under the picture that the two heavy quarks inside a doubly heavy baryon, such as two $c$-quarks in $Ξ_{cc}$, combine into a heavy `diquark core' in color anti-triplet firstly, then the diquark core turns into a color-less doubly heavy baryon via combining the light $q$-quark inside the baryon. Namely both of the combinations, the two heavy quarks inside the baryon into a diquark core in color anti-triplet and the heavy diquark core with the light quark into the baryon, are depicted by relativistic Bethe-Salpeter equations (BSEs) with an accordingly QCD inspired kernel respectively, although in the paper only the heavy diquark cores with the quantum numbers $J^P=1^+$ are considered. Since the `second combination' is of the heavy diquark core and the light quark, so the structure effect of the diquark core to the relevant kernel of the BSE is specially considered in terms of the diquark-core wave functions. The mass spectra and wave functions for the `low-laying' doubly heavy baryons in the flavors $(ccq)$, $(bcq)$ and $(bbq)$ and in the quantum numbers $J^P=\frac{1}{2}^+$, $J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+$, achieved by solving the equations under the so-called instantaneous approximation, are presented properly and some comparisons with the others' results under different approaches in the literature are made.

Mixing angle and decay constants of $J^P=1^+$ heavy-light mesons

The mass spectra, mixing angle and decay constants of the $J^P=1^+$ heavy-light mesons are systematically studied within the framework of the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE). The full $1^+$ Salpeter wave function is given for the first time. The mixing between the $1^{+-}$ and $1^{++}$ in the $1^+$ heavy-light systems are automatically determined by the dynamics in the equation without any man-made mixing. The results indicate that in a rigorous study there exists the phenomenon of mixing angle inversion or mass inversion within $1^{+}$ heavy-light doublet, which is sensitive to the $s$-quark mass for the charmed mesons and $u$- or $d$-quark masses for the bottomed mesons. This inversion phenomenon can answer the question of why we have confused mixing angles in the literature and partly explain the lower mass of $D_{s1}(2460)$ compared to that of $D_{s1}(2536)$. The decay constants are also presented and can behave as a good quantity to distinguish the $1^+$ doublet in heavy-light mesons. This study indicates that the light-quark mass may play an important role in deciding the mass order, mixing angle, and decay constant relation between the $\ket{j_l=\frac{3}{2}}$ and $\ket{j_l=\frac{1}{2}}$ heavy-light mesons.

The NLO fragmentation functions of heavy quarks into heavy quarkonia

In the paper, we derive the next-to-leading order (NLO) fragmentation function for a heavy quark, either charm or bottom, into a heavy quarkonium $J/Ψ$ or $Υ$. The ultra-violet divergences in the real corrections are removed through the operator renormalization, which is performed under the modified minimal subtraction scheme. We then obtain the NLO fragmentation function at an initial factorization scale, e.g. $μ_{F}=3 m_c$ for $c\to J/Ψ$ and $μ_{F}=3m_b$ for $b\to Υ$, which can be evolved to any scale via the use of Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi equation. As an initial application of those fragmentation functions, we study the $J/Ψ$ ($Υ$) production at a high luminosity $e^+e^-$ collider which runs at the energy around the $Z$ pole and could be a suitable platform for testing the fragmentation function.

The system of partial differential equations for the $C_{_0}$ function

We present an approach to analyze the scalar integrals of any Feynman diagrams in detail here. This method not only completely recovers some well-known results in the literature, but also produces some brand new results on the $C_{_0}$ function. The approach can be employed to evaluate the coefficient of arbitrary power of $\varepsilon$ in the expansion of a scalar integral, where $D=4-2\varepsilon$ denotes the time-space dimension.

The remaining parts for the long-standing J/psi polarization puzzle

Based on the non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism, the polarization parameters $λ_{θϕ}$ and $λ_ϕ$ of $J/ψ$ hadroproduction are analyzed in helicity frame and calculated at QCD next-to-leading order for the first time. For prompt $J/ψ$ production, we take into account the feeddown contributions from $χ_{cJ}$ and $ψ(2S)$ decays. The theoretical predictions for the polarization parameters $λ_{θϕ}$ and $λ_ϕ$ of $J/ψ$ are presented. With the theoretical results we have done the fit to the experimental measurements on yield and polarization for $J/ψ$ hadroproduction simultaneously, and found that the results are coincide with the experimental measurements at the LHC quite well.

Hadronic production of the doubly charmed baryon via the proton-nucleus and the nucleus-nucleus collisions at the RHIC and LHC

We present a detailed discussion on the doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}$ production at the RHIC and LHC via the proton-nucleus ($p$-N) and nucleus-nucleus (N-N) collision modes. The extrinsic charm mechanism via the subprocesses $g+c\to (cc)[n]+\bar{c}$ and $c+c\to (cc)[n]+g$ together with the gluon-gluon fusion mechanism via the subprocess $g+g\to(cc)[n]+\bar{c}+\bar{c}$ have been taken into consideration, where the intermediate diquark is in $[n]=[^1S_0]_{\bf 6}$-state or $[^3S_1]_{\bar{\bf 3}}$-state, respectively. Total and differential cross sections have been discussed under various collision energies. To compare with the $Ξ_{cc}$ production via proton-proton collision mode at the LHC, we observe that sizable $Ξ_{cc}$ events can also be generated via $p$-N and N-N collision modes at the RHIC and LHC. For examples, about $8.1\times10^7$ and $6.7\times10^7$ $Ξ_{cc}$ events can be accumulated in $p$-Pb and Pb-Pb collision modes at the LHC within one operation year.

Strong Decays of the Orbitally Excited Scalar $D^{*}_{0}$ Mesons

We calculate the two-body strong decays of the orbitally excited scalar mesons $D_0^*(2400)$ and $D_J^*(3000)$ by using the relativistic Bethe-Salpeter (BS) method. $D_J^*(3000)$ was observed recently by the LHCb Collaboration, the quantum number of which has not been determined yet. In this paper, we assume that it is the $0^+(2P)$ state and obtain the transition amplitude by using the PCAC relation, low-energy theorem and effective Lagrangian method. For the $1P$ state, the total widths of $D_0^*(2400)^{0}$ and $ D_0^*(2400)^+$ are 226 MeV and 246 MeV, respectively. With the assumption of $0^+(2P)$ state, the widths of $D_J^*(3000)^0$ and $D_J^*(3000)^+$ are both about 131 MeV, which is close to the present experimental data. Therefore, $D_J^*(3000)$ is a strong candidate for the $2^3P_0$ state.

The $B_c (B_c^*)$ meson production via the proton-nucleus and the nucleus-nucleus collision modes at the colliders RHIC and LHC

In the paper, we make a comprehensive study on the hadroproduction of the $B_c (B_c^*)$ meson via the gluon-gluon fusion mechanism at the RHIC and LHC colliders. Total and differential cross sections via the proton-nucleus ($p$-N) and nucleus-nucleus (N-N) collision modes have been discussed under various collision energies. To compare with those via the proton-proton collision mode at the LHC, we observe that sizable number of $B_c (B_c^*)$-meson events can also be produced via the $p$-N and N-N collision modes at the RHIC and LHC. If assuming the spin-triplet $B^*_c$ meson directly decays to the spin-singlet $B_c$ meson with $100\%$ probability, $1.2 \times 10^5$ and $4.7 \times 10^5$ $B_c$-meson events can be produced via the $p$-Au and Au-Au collision modes at the RHIC in one operation year; $5.8 \times 10^6$ and $4.6 \times 10^6$ $B_c$-meson events can be produced via the $p$-Pb and Pb-Pb collision modes at the LHC in one operation year.

Strong decays of $D_J(3000)$ and $D_{sJ}(3040)$

In this paper, we systematically calculate two-body strong decays of newly observed $D_J(3000)$ and $D_{sJ}(3040)$ with 2P$(1^+)$ and 2P$(1^{+\prime})$ assignments in an instantaneous approximation of the Bethe-Salpeter equation method. Our results show that both resonances can be explained as the 2P$(1^{+'})$ with broad width via $^3P_1$ and $^1P_1$ mixing in $D$ and $D_s$ families. For $D_J(3000)$, the total width is 229.6 MeV in our calculation, close to the upper limit of experimental data, and the dominant decay channels are $D_2^*π$, $D^*π$, and $D^*(2600)π$. For $D_{sJ}(3040)$, the total width is 157.4 MeV in our calculation, close to the lower limit of experimental data, and the dominant channels are $D^*K$ and $D^*K^*$. These results are consistent with observed channels in experiments. Given the very little information that has been obtained from experiments and the large error bars of the total decay widths, we recommend the detection of dominant channels in our calculation.

Evaluating Feynman integrals by the hypergeometry

The hypergeometric function method naturally provides the analytic expressions of scalar integrals from concerned Feynman diagrams in some connected regions of independent kinematic variables, also presents the systems of homogeneous linear partial differential equations satisfied by the corresponding scalar integrals. Taking examples of the one-loop $B_{_0}$ and massless $C_{_0}$ functions, as well as the scalar integrals of two-loop vacuum and sunset diagrams, we verify our expressions coinciding with the well-known results of literatures. Based on the multiple hypergeometric functions of independent kinematic variables, the systems of homogeneous linear partial differential equations satisfied by the mentioned scalar integrals are established. Using the calculus of variations, one recognizes the system of linear partial differential equations as stationary conditions of a functional under some given restrictions, which is the cornerstone to perform the continuation of the scalar integrals to whole kinematic domains numerically with the finite element methods. In principle this method can be used to evaluate the scalar integrals of any Feynman diagrams.

The NLO QCD corrections to $B_c$($B_c^*$) production around $Z$ pole at an $e^+e^-$ collider

Production of the $B_c$ and $B_c^*$ mesons at $Z$-factory (an $e^+e^-$ collider running at energies around $Z$ pole) is calculated up-to the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections. The results show that the dependence of the total cross sections on the renormalization scale $μ$ is reduced by the corrections, and the NLO corrections enhance the production cross section by $52\%$($33\%$) when the renormalization scale is taken at $μ=2m_b$. For experimental observations of the $B_c$ and $B_c^*$ mesons, the differential cross sections for the production are also analyzed up-to the NLO accuracy.

Study of the excited $1^-$ charm and charm-strange mesons

We give a systematical study on the recently reported excited charm and charm-strange mesons with potential $1^-$ spin-parity, including the $D^*_{s1}(2700)^+$, $D^*_{s1}(2860)^+$, $D^*(2600)^0$, $D^*(2650)^0$, $D^*_1(2680)^0$ and $D^*_1(2760)^0$. The main strong decay properties are obtained by the framework of Bethe-Salpeter (BS) methods. Our results reveal that the two $1^-$ charm-strange mesons can be well described by the further $2^3\!S_1$-$1^3\!D_1$ mixing scheme with a mixing angle of $8.7^{+3.9}_{-3.2}$ degrees. The predicted decay ratio $\frac{\mathcal{B}(D^*K)}{\mathcal{B}(D~K)}$ for $D^*_{s1}(2860)$ is $0.62^{+0.22}_{-0.12}$.~$D^*(2600)^0$ can also be explained as the $2^3\!S_1$ predominant state with a mixing angle of $-(7.5^{+4.0}_{-3.3})$ degrees. Considering the mass range, $D^*(2650)^0$ and $D^*_1(2680)^0$ are more likely to be the $2^3\!S_1$ predominant states, although the total widths under both the $2^3\!S_1$ and $1^3\!D_1$ assignments have no great conflict with the current experimental data. The calculated width for LHCb $D^*_1(2760)^0$ seems about 100 \si{MeV} larger than experimental measurement if taking it as $1^3\!D_1$ or $1^3\!D_1$ dominant state $c\bar u$. The comparisons with other calculations and several important decay ratios are also present. For the identification of these $1^-$ charm mesons, further experimental information, such as $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Dπ)}{\mathcal{B}(D^*π)}$ are necessary.

Finite-volume effects on phase transition in the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with a chiral chemical potential

To investigate finite-volume effects on the chiral symmetry restoration and the deconfinement transition and some impacts of possible global topological background for a quantum chromodynamics (QCD) system with $N_f=2$ (two quark flavors), we apply the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model by introducing a chiral chemical potential $μ_5$ artificially. The final numerical results indicate that the introduced chiral chemical potential does not change the critical exponents but shifts the location of critical end point (CEP) significantly; the ratios for the chiral chemical potentials and temperatures at CEP, $μ_c/μ_{5c}$ and $T_c/T_{5c}$, are significantly affected by the system size $R$. The behavior is that $T_c$ increases slowly with $μ_5$ when $R$ is large and $T_c$ decreases first and then increases with $μ_5$ when $R$ is small. It is also found that for a fixed $μ_5$, there is a $R_{\text{min}}$, where the critical end point vanishes, and the whole phase diagram becomes a crossover when $R<R_{\text{min}}$. Therefore, we suggest that for the heavy-ion collision experiments, which is to study the possible location of CEP, the finite-volume behavior should be taken into account.

Some of semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of $B_c$ meson in a Bethe-Salpeter relativistic quark model

The semileptonic decays $B_c^+\rightarrow P(V) +\ell^++\barν_\ell$ and the nonleptonic decays $B_c^+\rightarrow P(V)+L$, where $P(V)$ denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) charmonium or ($\bar{b}s$)-meson, and $L$ denotes a light meson, are studied in the framework of improved instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equation and the Mandelstam formula. The numerical results (width and branching ratio of the decays) are presented in tables, and in order to compare conveniently, those obtained by other approaches are also put in the relevant tables. Based on the fact that the ratio $\frac{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrowψ(2S)π^+)}{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ψπ^+)}=0.24^{+0.023}_{-0.040}$ estimated here is in good agreement with the observation by the LHCb $\frac{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow ψ(2S)π^+)}{\mathcal{BR}(B_c^+\rightarrow J/ψπ^+)}=0.250\pm0.068(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.014(\mathrm{syst})\pm0.006(\mathcal{B})$, one may conclude that with respect to the decays the present framework works quite well.

Production of doubly heavy-flavored hadrons at $e^+e^-$ colliders

Production of the doubly heavy-flavored hadrons ($B_c$ meson, doubly heavy baryons $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{bc}$, $Ξ_{bb}$, their excited states and antiparticles of them as well) at $e^+e^-$ colliders is investigated under two different approaches: $LO$ (leading order QCD complete calculation) and $LL$ (leading logarithm fragmentation calculation). The results for the production obtained by the approaches $LO$ and $LL$, including the angle distributions of the produced hadrons with unpolarized and polarized incoming beams, the behaviors on the energy fraction of the produced doubly heavy hadron and comparisons between the two approaches' results, are presented in terms of tables and figures. Thus characteristics of the production and uncertainties of the approaches are shown precisely, and it is concluded that only if the colliders run at the eneries around $Z$-pole (which may be called as $Z$-factories) and additionally the luminosity of the colliders is as high as possible then to study the doubly heavy hadrons thoroughly is accessible.
