Meta-TTT: A Meta-learning Minimax Framework For Test-Time Training

Test-time domain adaptation is a challenging task that aims to adapt a pre-trained model to limited, unlabeled target data during inference. Current methods that rely on self-supervision and entropy minimization underperform when the self-supervised learning (SSL) task does not align well with the primary objective. Additionally, minimizing entropy can lead to suboptimal solutions when there is limited diversity within minibatches. This paper introduces a meta-learning minimax framework for test-time training on batch normalization (BN) layers, ensuring that the SSL task aligns with the primary task while addressing minibatch overfitting. We adopt a mixed-BN approach that interpolates current test batch statistics with the statistics from source domains and propose a stochastic domain synthesizing method to improve model generalization and robustness to domain shifts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method surpasses state-of-the-art techniques across various domain adaptation and generalization benchmarks, significantly enhancing the pre-trained model's robustness on unseen domains.

Inflight Performance and Calibrations of the Lyman-alpha Solar Telescope on board the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory

The Lyman-alpha Solar Telescope (LST) on board the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory (ASO-S) is the first payload to image the full solar disk and the solar corona in both white-light (WL) and ultraviolet (UV) H I Lya, extending up to 2.5 solar radii (Rs). Since the launch of the ASO-S on 9 October 2022, LST has captured various significant solar activities including flares, prominences, coronal mass ejections (CMEs). LST covers different passbands of 121.6 nm, 360 nm and 700 nm. The Lya Solar Disk Imager (SDI) has a field of view (FOV) of 38.4 arcmin and a spatial resolution of around 9.5 arcsec, while the White-Light Solar Telescope (WST) has a FOV of 38.43 arcmin and a spatial resolution of around 3.0 arcsec. The FOV of the Lya Solar Corona Imager (SCI) reaches 81.1 arcmin and its spatial resolution is 4.3 arcsec. The stray-light level in the 700 nm waveband is about 7.8e-6 MSB (mean solar brightness) at 1.1 Rs and 7.6e-7 MSB at 2.5 Rs, and in the Lya waveband it is around 4.3e-3 MSB at 1.1 Rs and 4.1e-4 MSB at 2.5 Rs. This article will detail the results from on-orbit tests and calibrations.

Construction of continuum from a discrete surface by its iterated subdivisions

Given a trivalent graph in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space, we call it a discrete surface because it has a tangent space at each vertex determined by its neighbor vertices. To abstract a continuum object hidden in the discrete surface, we introduce a subdivision method by applying the Goldberg-Coxeter subdivision and discuss the convergence of a sequence of discrete surfaces defined inductively by the subdivision. We also study the limit set as the continuum geometric object associated with the given discrete surface.

Solving The Longest Overlap Region Problem for Noncoding DNA Sequences with GPU

Early hardware limitations of GPU (lack of synchronization primitives and limited memory caching mechanisms) can make GPU-based computation inefficient. Now Bio-technologies bring more chances to Bioinformatics and Biological Engineering. Our paper introduces a way to solve the longest overlap region of non-coding DNA sequences on using the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) platform Intel(R) Core(TM) i3- 3110m quad-core. Compared to standard CPU implementation, CUDA performance proves the method of the longest overlap region recognition of noncoding DNA is an efficient approach to high-performance bioinformatics applications. Studies show the fact that efficiency of GPU performance is more than 20 times speedup than that of CPU serial implementation. We believe our method gives a cost-efficient solution to the bioinformatics community for solving longest overlap region recognition problem and other related fields.

Riemannian Holonomy Groups of Statistical Manifolds

Normal distribution manifolds play essential roles in the theory of information geometry, so do holonomy groups in classification of Riemannian manifolds. After some necessary preliminaries on information geometry and holonomy groups, it is presented that the corresponding Riemannian holonomy group of the $d$-dimensional normal distribution is $SO\left(\frac{d\left(d+3\right)}{2}\right)$, for all $d\in\mathbb{N}$. As a generalization on exponential family, a list of holonomy groups follows.

Principal bundles over statistical manifolds

In this paper, we introduce the concept of principal bundles on statistical manifolds. After necessary preliminaries on information geometry and principal bundles on manifolds, we study the $α$-structure of frame bundles over statistical manifolds with respect to $α$-connections, by giving geometric structures. The manifold of one-dimensional normal distributions appears in the end as an application and a concrete example.
