OrchestrXR: A Multi-Agent System for Idea-to-Prototype XR Study Authoring

Extended Reality (XR) has become an important interaction paradigm in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). XR studies are used to investigate interaction, perception, and user behavior in immersive environments, and typically involve experimental tasks, 3D scenes, and interactive logic. However, turning an initial XR study idea into a runnable prototype remains fragmented across study design, scene construction, and interaction implementation. We present OrchestrXR, a multi-agent human-AI workflow for early-stage idea-to-prototype XR study authoring. Rather than treating XR study creation as one-shot generation, OrchestrXR supports a controllable workflow across study design, scene generation, and interaction generation through structured schemas, multi-agent orchestration, and interactive human-agent interfaces, producing a Unity-based prototype from a researcher's idea. A user study with 12 XR researchers suggests that OrchestrXR provides effective support for early-stage XR study authoring with strong intent preservation across stages.

Towards Natural Language Environment: Understanding Seamless Natural-Language-Based Human-Multi-Robot Interactions

As multiple robots are expected to coexist in future households, natural language is increasingly envisioned as a primary medium for human-robot and robot-robot communication. This paper introduces the concept of a Natural Language Environment (NLE), defined as an interaction space in which humans and multiple heterogeneous robots coordinate primarily through natural language. Rather than proposing a deployable system, this work aims to explore the design space of such environments. We first synthesize prior work on language-based human-robot interaction to derive a preliminary design space for NLEs. We then conduct a role-playing study in virtual reality to investigate how people conceptualize, negotiate, and coordinate human-multi-robot interactions within this imagined environment. Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis, we refine the preliminary design space and derive design implications that highlight key tensions and opportunities around task coordination dominance, robot autonomy, and robot personality in Natural Language Environments.

SketchConcept: Sketching-based Concept Recomposition for Product Design using Generative AI

Conceptual product design requires designers to explore the design space of visual and functional concepts simultaneously. Sketching has long been adopted to empower concept exploration. However, current sketch-based design tools mostly emphasize visual design using emerging techniques. We present SketchConcept, a design support tool that decomposes design concepts into visual representations and functionality of concepts using sketches and textual descriptions. We propose a function-to-visual mapping workflow that maps the function descriptions generated by a Large Language Model to a component of the concept produced by image Generative Artificial Intelligence(GenAI). The function-to-visual mapping allows our system to leverage multimodal GenAI to decompose, generate, and edit the design concept to satisfy the overall function and behavior. We present multiple use cases enabled by SketchConcept to validate the workflow. Finally, we evaluated the efficacy and usability of our system with a two-session user study.

DesignFromX: Empowering Consumer-Driven Design Space Exploration through Feature Composition of Referenced Products

Industrial products are designed to satisfy the needs of consumers. The rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) enables consumers to easily modify a product by prompting a generative model, opening up opportunities to incorporate consumers in exploring the product design space. However, consumers often struggle to articulate their preferred product features due to their unfamiliarity with terminology and their limited understanding of the structure of product features. We present DesignFromX, a system that empowers consumer-driven design space exploration by helping consumers to design a product based on their preferences. Leveraging an effective GenAI-based framework, the system allows users to easily identify design features from product images and compose those features to generate conceptual images and 3D models of a new product. A user study with 24 participants demonstrates that DesignFromX lowers the barriers and frustration for consumer-driven design space explorations by enhancing both engagement and enjoyment for the participants.

GesPrompt: Leveraging Co-Speech Gestures to Augment LLM-Based Interaction in Virtual Reality

Large Language Model (LLM)-based copilots have shown great potential in Extended Reality (XR) applications. However, the user faces challenges when describing the 3D environments to the copilots due to the complexity of conveying spatial-temporal information through text or speech alone. To address this, we introduce GesPrompt, a multimodal XR interface that combines co-speech gestures with speech, allowing end-users to communicate more naturally and accurately with LLM-based copilots in XR environments. By incorporating gestures, GesPrompt extracts spatial-temporal reference from co-speech gestures, reducing the need for precise textual prompts and minimizing cognitive load for end-users. Our contributions include (1) a workflow to integrate gesture and speech input in the XR environment, (2) a prototype VR system that implements the workflow, and (3) a user study demonstrating its effectiveness in improving user communication in VR environments.

ACRNet: Attention Cube Regression Network for Multi-view Real-time 3D Human Pose Estimation in Telemedicine

Human pose estimation (HPE) for 3D skeleton reconstruction in telemedicine has long received attention. Although the development of deep learning has made HPE methods in telemedicine simpler and easier to use, addressing low accuracy and high latency remains a big challenge. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-view Attention Cube Regression Network (ACRNet), which regresses the 3D position of joints in real time by aggregating informative attention points on each cube surface. More specially, a cube whose each surface contains uniformly distributed attention points with specific coordinate values is first created to wrap the target from the main view. Then, our network regresses the 3D position of each joint by summing and averaging the coordinates of attention points on each surface after being weighted. To verify our method, we first tested ACRNet on the open-source ITOP dataset; meanwhile, we collected a new multi-view upper body movement dataset (UBM) on the trunk support trainer (TruST) to validate the capability of our model in real rehabilitation scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of ACRNet compared with other state-of-the-art methods. We also validate the efficacy of each module in ACRNet. Furthermore, Our work analyzes the performance of ACRNet under the medical monitoring indicator. Because of the high accuracy and running speed, our model is suitable for real-time telemedicine settings. The source code is available at https://github.com/BoceHu/ACRNet
