Competing Risks Analysis on Times to Commit Crimes

A trivariate Weibull survival model using competing risks concept is applied on studying recidivism of committing 3 types of crimes - sex, violent and others. The assumption of independence of time to commit each type of crimes is relaxed so that the association of the time to recidivism between any two types of crimes can be evaluated. We found that the correlation of time to recidivism between sex crimes and violent crimes are more correlated than other pairs. Probability of experiencing a charged arrest of other crimes is greater than a charged arrest of violent crimes followed by a charged arrest of sex crimes for an individual after release.

A Fractional Survival Model

A survival model is derived from the exponential function using the concept of fractional differentiation. The hazard function of the proposed model generates various shapes of curves including increasing, increasing-constant-increasing, increasing-decreasing-increasing, and so-called bathtub hazard curve. The model also contains a parameter that is the maximum of the survival time.

A Multivariate Weibull Disitribution

A multivariate survival function of Weibull Distribution is developed by expanding the theorem by Lu and Bhattacharyya (1990). From the survival function, the probability density function, the cumulative probability function, the determinant of the Jacobian Matrix, and the general moment are derived. The proposed model is also applied to the tumor appearance data of female rats.
