Anomalous spin transport in integrable random quantum circuits

High-temperature spin transport in integrable quantum spin chains exhibits a rich dynamical phase diagram, including ballistic, superdiffusive, and diffusive regimes. While integrability is known to survive in static and periodically driven systems, its fate in the complete absence of time-translation symmetry, particularly in interacting random quantum circuits, has remained unclear. Here we construct integrable random quantum circuits built from inhomogeneous XXZ R-matrices. Remarkably, integrability is preserved for arbitrary sequences of gate layers, ranging from quasiperiodic to fully random, thereby explicitly breaking both continuous and discrete time-translation symmetry. Using large-scale time-dependent density-matrix renormalization group simulations at infinite temperature and half filling, we map out the resulting spin-transport phase diagram and identify ballistic, superdiffusive, and diffusive regimes controlled by the spectral parameters of the R-matrices. The spatiotemporal structure of spin correlations within each regime depends sensitively on the inhomogeneity, exhibiting spatial asymmetry and sharp peak structures tied to near-degenerate quasiparticle velocities. To account for these findings, we develop a generalized hydrodynamics framework adapted to time-dependent integrable circuits, yielding Euler-scale predictions for correlation functions, Drude weights, and diffusion bounds. This approach identifies the quasiparticles governing transport and quantitatively captures both the scaling exponents and fine structures of the correlation profiles observed numerically. Our results demonstrate that exact Yang-Baxter integrability is compatible with stochastic quantum dynamics and establish generalized hydrodynamics as a predictive framework for transport in time-dependent integrable systems.

Exact spin helix eigenstates in the anisotropic spin-$s$ Heisenberg model with arbitrary dimensions

Spin helix states-characterized by their spatially modulated spin textures-are exact eigenstates of the one-dimensional anisotropic spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg model under specific parameter conditions. In this work, we extend this framework by constructing exact spin helix eigenstates for the fully anisotropic XYZ Heisenberg model with arbitrary spatial dimensions and arbitrary spin quantum numbers. Our results demonstrate that some non-trivial exact eigenstates can persist beyond the integrable regime. The XXZ and XY cases are also analyzed to clarify the conditions for the emergence of spin helix eigenstates and their key properties. Our results broaden the class of analytically tractable exact eigenstates in non-integrable systems and deepen understanding of spin modulation states in many-body systems.

Types of dynamical behavior in a quasiperiodic mosaic lattice

Quasiperiodic mosaic systems with the quasiperiodic potential being added periodically with a fixed lattice interval have attracted significant attention due to their peculiar spectral properties with exactly known mobility edges, which separate localized from delocalized states. These mobility edges do not vanish even in the region of large quasiperiodic potential strength, although the width of the energy window of extended states decreases with the increase in potential strength and thus becomes very narrow in the limit of strong quasiperiodic disorder. In this paper, we study the dynamics of a quasiperiodic mosaic lattice and unravel its peculiar dynamical properties. By scrutinizing the expansion dynamics of wave packet and the evolution of density distribution, we unveil that the long-time density distribution displays obviously different behaviors at odd and even sites in the region of large quasiperiodic potential strength. Particularly, the timescale of dynamics exhibits an inverse relationship with the quasiperiodic potential strength. To understand these behaviors, we derive an effective Hamiltonian in the large quasiperiodic potential strength region, which is composed of decoupled Hamiltonians defined on the odd and even sites, respectively. While all eigenstates of the effective Hamiltonian defined on even sites are localized, the eigenstates of effective Hamiltonian defined on odd sites include both localized and extended eigenstates. Our results suggest that the effective Hamiltonian can describe the dynamical behaviors well in the large quasiperiodic potential strength region and provides an intuitive framework for understanding the peculiar dynamical behaviors in the quasiperiodic mosaic lattice.

Statistical and dynamical aspects of quantum chaos in a kicked Bose-Hubbard dimer

Systems of interacting bosons in double-well potentials, modeled by two-site Bose-Hubbard models, are of significant theoretical and experimental interest and attracted intensive studies in contexts ranging from many-body physics and quantum dynamics to the onset of quantum chaos. In this work we systematically study a kicked two-site Bose-Hubbard model (Bose-Hubbard dimer) with the on-site potential difference being periodically modulated. Our model can be equivalently represented as a kicked Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model and thus displays different dynamical behaviors from the kicked top model. By analyzing spectral statistics of Floquet operator, we unveil that the system undergoes a transition from regularity to chaos with increasing the interaction strength. Then based on semiclassical approximation and the analysis of R\'{e}nyi entropy of coherent states in the basis of Floquet operator eigenstates, we reveal the local chaotic features of our model, which indicate the existence of integrable islands even in the deep chaotic regime. The semiclassical analysis also suggests that the system in chaotic regime may display different dynamical behavior depending on the choice of initial states. Finally, we demonstrate that dynamical signatures of chaos can be manifested by studying dynamical evolution of local operators and out of time order correlation function as well as the entanglement entropy. Our numerical results exhibit the richness of dynamics of the kicked Bose-Hubbard dimer in both regular and chaotic regimes as the initial states are chosen as coherent spin states located in different locations of phase space.

A holistic review on fatigue properties of additively manufactured metals

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology is undergoing rapid development and emerging as an advanced technique that can fabricate complex near-net shaped and light-weight metallic parts with acceptable strength and fatigue performance. A number of studies have indicated that the strength or other mechanical properties of AM metals are comparable or even superior to that of conventionally manufactured metals, but the fatigue performance is still a thorny problem that may hinder the replacement of currently used metallic components by AM counterparts when the cyclic loading and thus fatigue failure dominates. This article reviews the state-of-art published data on the fatigue properties of AM metals, principally including $S$--$N$ data and fatigue crack growth data. The AM techniques utilized to generate samples in this review include powder bed fusion (e.g., EBM, SLM, DMLS) and directed energy deposition (e.g., LENS, WAAM). Further, the fatigue properties of AM metallic materials that involve titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, magnesium alloys, and high entropy alloys, are systematically overviewed. In addition, summary figures or tables for the published data on fatigue properties are presented for the above metals, the AM techniques, and the influencing factors (manufacturing parameters, e.g., built orientation, processing parameter, and post-processing). The effects of build direction, particle, geometry, manufacturing parameters, post-processing, and heat-treatment on fatigue properties, when available, are provided and discussed. The fatigue performance and main factors affecting the fatigue behavior of AM metals are finally compared and critically analyzed, thus potentially providing valuable guidance for improving the fatigue performance of AM metals.

Deformed Symmetry Structures and Quantum Many-body Scar Subspaces

A quantum many-body scar system usually contains a special non-thermal subspace (approximately) decoupled from the rest of the Hilbert space. In this work, we propose a general structure called deformed symmetric spaces for the decoupled subspaces hosting quantum many-body scars, which are irreducible sectors of simple Lie groups transformed by matrix-product operators (or projected entangled pair operators), of which the entanglement entropies are proved to obey sub-volume-law scaling and thus violate the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis. A deformed symmetric space, in general, is required to have at least a U(1) sub-Lie-group symmetry to allow coherent periodic dynamics from certain low-entangled initial states. We enumerate several possible deforming transformations based on the sub-group symmetry requirement and recover many existing models whose scar states are not connected by symmetry. In particular, a two-dimensional scar model is proposed, which hosts a periodic dynamical trajectory on which all states are topologically ordered.

Quasi-symmetry groups and many-body scar dynamics

In quantum systems, a subspace spanned by degenerate eigenvectors of the Hamiltonian may have higher symmetries than those of the Hamiltonian itself. When this enhanced-symmetry group can be generated from local operators, we call it a quasi-symmetry group. When the group is a Lie group, an external field coupled to certain generators of the quasi-symmetry group lifts the degeneracy, and results in exactly periodic dynamics within the degenerate subspace, namely the many-body-scar dynamics (given that Hamiltonian is non-integrable). We provide two related schemes for constructing one-dimensional spin models having on-demand quasi-symmetry groups, with exact periodic evolution of a pre-chosen product or matrix-product state under certain external fields.
