Eigenvariety for partially classical Hilbert modular forms

For each subset of primes in a totally real field above a rational prime $p$, there is the notion of partially classical Hilbert modular forms, where the empty set recovers the overconvergent forms and the full set of primes above $p$ yields classical forms. Given such a set, we $p$-adically interpolate the classical modular sheaves to construct families of partially classical Hilbert modular forms with weights varying in appropriate weight spaces and construct the corresponding eigenvariety, generalizing the construction of Andreatta, Iovita, Pilloni, and Stevens.

Derived $p$-adic heights and the leading coefficient of the Bertolini--Darmon--Prasanna $p$-adic $L$-function

Let $E/\mathbb{Q}$ be an elliptic curve and let $p$ be an odd prime of good reduction for $E$. Let $K$ be an imaginary quadratic field satisfying the classical Heegner hypothesis and in which $p$ splits. The goal of this paper is two-fold: (1) We formulate a $p$-adic BSD conjecture for the $p$-adic $L$-function $L_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP}$ introduced by Bertolini--Darmon--Prasanna. (2) For an algebraic analogue $F_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP}$ of $L_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP}$, we show that the ``leading coefficient'' part of our conjecture holds, and that the ``order of vanishing'' part follows from the expected ``maximal non-degeneracy'' of an anticyclotomic $p$-adic height. In particular, when the Iwasawa--Greenberg Main Conjecture $(F_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP})=(L_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP})$ is known, our results determine the leading coefficient of $L_{\mathfrak{p}}^{\rm BDP}$ at $T=0$ up to a $p$-adic unit. Moreover, by adapting the approach of Burungale--Castella--Kim, we prove the main conjecture for supersingular primes $p$ under mild hypotheses. In the $p$-ordinary case, and under some additional hypotheses, similar results were obtained by Agboola--Castella, but our method is new and completely independent from theirs, and apply to all good primes.

Mock theta functions and related combinatorics

In this paper we add to the literature on the combinatorial nature of the mock theta functions, a collection of curious $q$-hypergeometric series introduced by Ramanujan in his last letter to Hardy in 1920, which we now know to be important examples of mock modular forms. Our work is inspired by Beck's conjecture, now a theorem of Andrews, related to Euler's identity: the excess of the number of parts in all partitions of $n$ into odd parts over the number of partitions of $n$ into distinct parts is equal to the number of partitions with only one (possibly repeated) even part and all other parts odd. We establish Beck-type identities associated to partition identities due to Andrews, Dixit, and Yee for the third order mock theta functions $ω(q), ν(q)$, and $ϕ(q)$. Our proofs are both analytic and combinatorial in nature, and involve mock theta generating functions and combinatorial bijections.

Partial Classicality of Hilbert Modular Forms

Let F be a totally real field and p a rational prime unramified in F. We prove a partial classicality theorem for overconvergent Hilbert modular forms: when the slope is small compared to certain but not all weights, an overconvergent form is partially classical. We use the method of analytic continuation.

On a Partition Identity of Lehmer

Euler's identity equates the number of partitions of any non-negative integer n into odd parts and the number of partitions of n into distinct parts. Beck conjectured and Andrews proved the following companion to Euler's identity: the excess of the number of parts in all partitions of n into odd parts over the number of parts in all partitions of n into distinct parts equals the number of partitions of n with exactly one even part (possibly repeated). Beck's original conjecture was followed by generalizations and so-called "Beck-type" companions to other identities. In this paper, we establish a collection of Beck-type companion identities to the following result mentioned by Lehmer at the 1974 International Congress of Mathematicians: the excess of the number of partitions of n with an even number of even parts over the number of partitions of n with an odd number of even parts equals the number of partitions of n into distinct, odd parts. We also establish various generalizations of Lehmer's identity, and prove related Beck-type companion identities. We use both analytic and combinatorial methods in our proofs.

Euler Systems for $\mathrm{GSp}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$

For a non-endoscopic cohomological cuspidal automorphic representation of $\mathrm{GSp}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$, assumed to be $p$-ordinary, we construct an Euler system for the Galois representation associated to it. Both the construction and the verification of tame norm relations are based on Novodvorsky's integral formula for the $L$-function of $\mathrm{GSp}_4 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$.

Fourier coefficients of the overconvergent generalized eigenform associated to a CM form

Let f be a modular form with complex multiplication. If f has critical slope, then Coleman's classicality theorem implies that there is a p-adic overconvergent generalized Hecke eigenform with the same Hecke eigenvalues as f. We give a formula for the Fourier coefficiets of this generalized Hecke eigenform. We also investigate the dimension of the generalized Hecke eigenspace of p-adic overconvergent forms containing f.

Shimura varieties at level $Γ_1(p^\infty)$ and Galois representations

We show that the compactly supported cohomology of certain $\mathrm{U}(n,n)$ or $\mathrm{Sp}(2n)$-Shimura varieties with $Γ_1(p^\infty)$-level vanishes above the middle degree. The only assumption is that we work over a CM field $F$ in which the prime $p$ splits completely. We also give an application to Galois representations for torsion in the cohomology of the locally symmetric spaces for $\mathrm{GL}_n/F$. More precisely, we use the vanishing result for Shimura varieties to eliminate the nilpotent ideal in the construction of these Galois representations. This strengthens recent results of Scholze and Newton-Thorne.

Ramification of Hilbert eigenvarieties at classical points

Andreatta-Iovita-Pilloni constructed eigenvarieties for cuspidal Hilbert modular forms. The eigenvariety has a natural map to the weight space, called the weight map. At a classical point, we compute a lower bound of the dimension of the tangent space of the fiber of the weight map using Galois deformation theory. Along with the classicality theorem due to Tian-Xiao, this enables us to characterize the classical points of the eigenvariety which are ramified over the weight space, in terms of the local splitting behavior of the associated Galois representation.
