Accretion-Driven Squeezing of Fuzzy Dark Matter Halo Cores in the Schrödinger-Newton Framework

We investigate the impact of accretion onto supermassive black holes on the density profiles of a fuzzy dark matter soliton core at the center of a dark matter halo. Treating the supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy as a point mass, we numerically solve the Schrödinger-Newton equation for the scalar field. We find that the time-dependent perturbation has a significant squeezing effect on the soliton density profile, which both reduces the size of the core and increases the central density. This finding provides insights into how black hole growth influences fuzzy dark matter structures, potentially addressing discrepancies in galactic core observations.

Nonlinear optical realization of non-integrable phases accompanying quantum phase transitions

In this work, we propose an experimentally feasible nonlinear optical realization of a type of non-integrable phase found in interacting quantum systems at quantum phase transitions. We show that an exotic term in the dynamical equation governs the nonlinear polarization of the optical field along an anisotropic low-birefringence fiber with tetragonal symmetry. Intriguingly, by adiabatically tuning nonlinear susceptibilities along the fibers, the Stokes vector on the Poincaré sphere accumulates a non-integrable phase called the Hannay angle, which shares the same geometric gauge structure as that associated with quantum phase transitions. Experimental realization via adiabatically depositing nano-crystals along the fibers is discussed.

Quantum Supremacy through Fock State $q$ boson Sampling with Transmon Qubits

Transmon qubits have traditionally been regarded as limited to random circuit sampling, incapable of performing Fock state boson sampling, a problem known to be classically intractable. This work challenges that assumption by introducing $q$ boson Fock state sampling, a variant in which transmon qubits can operate effectively. Through direct mapping to the $q$ boson formalism, we demonstrate that transmons possess the capability to achieve quantum supremacy in $q$ boson sampling tasks. This finding expands the potential applications of transmon-based quantum processors and paves the way for new avenues in quantum computation.

Nonlinear optical analogues of quantum phase transitions in a squeezing-enhanced LMG model

We investigate nonlinear optical analogues of quantum phase transitions within a squeezing-enhanced generalized Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model, focusing on excited-state quantum phase transitions in optical fibers with tetragonal symmetry. Our analysis reveals a novel squeezing effect that induces classical bifurcations in polarization dynamics, even without a linear rotor-like term. By mapping the nonlinear polarization dynamics to the generalized LMG model, we establish a direct correspondence between optical bifurcations and quantum critical phenomena, uncovering geometric gauge structures akin to Berry-like phases. These findings highlight the interplay between classical and quantum behaviors in optical systems, offering a versatile platform for studying quantum many-body physics with applications in quantum metrology and simulation.

Beyond Boson Sampling: Higher Spin Sampling as a Practical Path to Quantum Supremacy

Since the dawn of quantum computation science, a range of quantum algorithms have been proposed, yet few have experimentally demonstrated a definitive quantum advantage. Shor's algorithm, while renowned, has not been realized at a scale to outperform classical methods. In contrast, Fock-state boson sampling has been theoretically established as a means of achieving quantum supremacy. However, most existing experimental realizations of boson sampling to date have been based on Gaussian boson sampling, in which the input states consist of squeezed states of light. In this work, we first introduce spin sampling for arbitrary spin-$S$ states as a practical path to quantum supremacy. We identified a quasi-linear scaling relation between the number of sites $m$ and the number of spins $n$ as $m\sim n^{1+ε}$, where $ε=3/(2S)$ is inversely proportional to the spin quantum number. This suggests that, within a spin system, an equivalent Fock-state boson sampling task in the linear mode region, characterized by $m\sim Ω(n^{1+ε})$, is experimentally feasible with reduced resource requirements.

Quantum-Secured Device-Independent Global Positioning System

This paper introduces a novel device-independent quantum self-testing protocol designed specifically for multipartite quantum communication. By exploiting the quantum rigidity in Bell nonlocality, the protocol enables the certification of genuinely entangled subspaces without reliance on device assumptions. Additionally, we investigate its potential to enhance the security of the Global Positioning System (GPS) against malicious cyberattacks. The study concludes with a comprehensive analysis of the experimental requirements, comparing superconducting and trapped-ion qubit architectures in terms of full-circuit fidelity and total gate time for generating a five-qubit code in the context of the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era.

Super-Poissonian Squeezed Light in the Deep Strong Regime of the Quantum Rabi Model

By analytically solving the quantum Rabi model, we investigate the photonic properties of its ground eigenstate. In particular, we find that in the deep strong coupling regime, where the coupling strength $g$ exceeds the mode frequency $ω$, the photonic state is effectively squeezed in one of its quadratures. The squeezing reaches its maximum at the curve corresponding to the quantum phase transition of the quantum Rabi system, and decreases rapidly on both sides of the phase transition. Notably, for $g/ω\approx 3$, which is experimentally testable in existing trapped-ion platforms, the achievable squeezing parameter can reach approximately $r\approx 0.8$. Intriguingly, the photonic state is squeezed while its number distribution follows a super-Poissonian distribution, with the largest deviation from Poissonian behavior occurring at the phase transition between the normal and superradiant phases. In other words, the ground state of the quantum Rabi model contains super-Poissonian quantum squeezed photons.

Analytical approximations for generalized quantum Rabi models

The quantum Rabi model is essential for understanding interacting quantum systems. It serves as the simplest non-integrable yet solvable model describing the interaction between a two-level system and a single mode of a bosonic field. In this study, we delve into the exploration of the generalized quantum Rabi model, wherein the bosonic mode of the field undergoes squeezing. Utilizing the Segal-Bargmann representation of the infinite-dimensional Hilbert space, we demonstrate that the energy spectrum of the generalized quantum Rabi model, when both the Rabi coupling strength and the squeezing strength are not significantly large compared to the field mode frequency, can be analytically determined by a bi-confluent Fuchsian equation with two regular singularities at 0 and 1 and an irregular singularity of rank two at infinity.

Fast and high-fidelity dispersive readout of a spin qubit via squeezing and resonator nonlinearity

Fast and high-fidelity qubit measurement is crucial for achieving quantum error correction, a fundamental element in the development of universal quantum computing. For electron spin qubits, fast readout stands out as a major obstacle in the pursuit of error correction. In this work, we explore the dispersive measurement of an individual spin in a semiconductor double quantum dot coupled to a nonlinear microwave resonator. By utilizing displaced squeezed vacuum states, we achieve rapid and high-fidelity readout for semiconductor spin qubits. Our findings reveal that introducing modest squeezing and mild nonlinearity can significantly improve both the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the fidelity of qubit-state readout. By properly marching the phases of squeezing, the nonlinear strength, and the local oscillator, the optimal readout time can be reduced to the sub-microsecond range. With current technology parameters ($κ\approx 2χ_s$, $χ_s\approx 2π\times 0.15 \:\mbox{MHz}$), utilizing a displaced squeezed vacuum state with $30$ photons and a modest squeezing parameter $r\approx 0.6$, along with a nonlinear microwave resonator charactered by a strength of $λ\approx -1.2 χ_s$, a readout fidelity of $98\%$ can be attained within a readout time of around $0.6\:μ\mbox{s}$. Intriguing, by using a positive nonlinear strength of $λ\approx 1.2χ_s$, it is possible to achieve an SNR of approximately $6$ and a readout fidelity of $99.99\%$ at a slightly later time, around $0.9\:μ\mbox{s}$, while maintaining all other parameters at the same settings.

Sub-microsecond high-fidelity dispersive readout of a spin qubit with squeezed photons

Fast and high-fidelity qubit measurement is essential for realizing quantum error correction, which is in turn a key ingredient to universal quantum computing. For electron spin qubits, fast readout is one of the significant road blocks toward error correction. Here we examine the dispersive readout of a single spin in a semiconductor double quantum dot coupled to a microwave resonator. We show that using displaced squeezed vacuum states for the probing photons can improve the qubit readout fidelity and speed. Under condition of proper phase matching, we find that a moderate, and only moderate, squeezing can enhance both the signal-to-noise ratio and the fidelity of the qubit-state readout, and the optimal readout time can be shortened to the sub-microsecond range with above $99\%$ fidelity. These enhancements are achieved at low probing microwave intensity, ensuring non-demolition qubit measurement.

Analytical Approximations for Generalized Landau-Zener Transitions in Multi-level Non-Hermitian Systems

We study the dynamics of non-adiabatic transitions in non-Hermitian multi-level parabolic models where the separations of the diabatic energies are quadratic function of time. The model Hamiltonian has been used to describe the non-Hermitian dynamics of two pairs of coupled cavities. In the absence of the coupling between any two pairs of cavities, the wave amplitudes within each subsystem are described by the tri-confluent Heun functions. When all the couplings between the cavities are present, we reduce the dynamics into a set of two coupled tri-confluent Heun equations, from which we derive analytical approximations for the wave amplitudes at different physical limits.

Genuine tripartite entanglement as a probe of quantum phase transitions in a spin-1 Heisenberg chain with single-ion anisotropy

We study the quantum phase transitions of spin-1 Heisenberg chains with an easy-axis anisotropy $Δ$ and a uniaxial single-ion anisotropy $D$ using a multipartite entanglement approach. The genuine tripartite entanglement between the spin blocks, measured by the tripartite qutrit hyperdeterminant, is calculated within the quantum renormalization group method. Using this approach, the phase boundaries between the topological Haldane, large-D and anti-ferromagnetic Néel phases are determined in the half $Δ-D$ plane with $Δ>0$. When the size of the spin blocks increases, the genuine tripartite entanglement between the blocks exhibits a nonzero plateau in the topological Haldane phase, and experiences abrupt drops at both the phase boundaries between the Haldane--large-D and Haldane--Néel phases, which justifies the usage of genuine multipartite entanglement as a probe of topological phases in spin systems.

Berry phases of higher spins due to internal geometry of Majorana constellation and relation to quantum entanglement

Majorana stars, the antipodal directions associated with the coherent states that are orthogonal to a spin state, provide a visualization and a geometric understanding of the structures of general quantum states. For example, the Berry phase of a spin-1/2 is given by half the solid angle enclosed by the close path of its Majorana star. It is conceivable that the Berry phase of higher spins may also be related to the geometry of the Majorana constellation. We find that for a spin-1 state, besides the expected contributions from the solid angles enclosed by the close paths of the two Majorana stars, the Berry phase includes a term related to the twist of the relative position vector around the barycenter vector of the two Majorana stars, i.e., the self-rotation of the constellation. Interestingly, if the spin-1 state is taken as a symmetrized two-qubit state, the extra contribution to the Berry phase is given by the self-rotation of the Majorana constellation weighted by the quantum entanglement of the two qubits. This discovery alludes to the relevance of the Majorana stellar geometry in representing the deep structures of quantum states and of quantum entanglement.

Non-adiabatic transitions in parabolic and super-parabolic $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric non-Hermitian systems

Exceptional points, the spectral degeneracy points in the complex parameter space, are fundamental to non-Hermitian quantum systems. The dynamics of non-Hermitian systems in the presence of exceptional points differ significantly from those of Hermitian ones. Here we investigate non-adiabatic transitions in non-Hermitian $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{T}$-symmetric systems, in which the exceptional points are driven through at finite speed which are quadratic or cubic functions of time. We identity different transmission dynamics separated by exceptional points, and derive analytical approximate formulas for the non-adiabatic transmission probabilities. We discuss possible experimental realizations with a $\mathcal{P}\mathcal{T}$-symmetric non-Hermitian one-dimensional tight-binding optical waveguide lattice.

Three-Tangle of a General Three-Qubit State in the Representation of Majorana Stars

Majorana stars, the $2j$ spin coherent states that are orthogonal to a spin-$j$ state, offer a visualization of general quantum states and may disclose deep structures in quantum states and their evolutions. In particular, the genuine tripartite entanglement - the three-tangle of a symmetric three-qubit state, which can be mapped to a spin-3/2 state, is measured by the normalized product of the distance between the Majorana stars. However, the Majorana representation cannot applied to general non-symmetric $n$-qubit states. We show that after a series of SL$(2,\mathbb{C})$ transformations, non-symmetric three-qubit states can be transformed to symmetric three-qubit states, while at the same time the three-tangle is unchanged. Thus the genuine tripartite entanglement of general three-qubit states has the geometric representation of the associated Majorana stars. The symmetrization and hence the Majorana star representation of certain genuine high-order entanglement for more qubits are possible for some special states. In general cases, however, the constraints on the symmetrization may prevent the Majorana star representation of the genuine entanglement.

Analytical Approximations to the Dynamics of Nonlinear Level Crossing Models

We study the dynamics of a nonlinear two-level crossing model with a cubic modification of the linear Landau-Zener diabatic energies. The solutions are expressed in terms of the bi-confluent Heun functions --- the generalization of the confluent hypergeometric functions. We express the finial transition probability as a convergent series of the parameters of the nonlinear laser detuning, and derive analytical approximations for the state populations in terms of parabolic cylinder and Whittaker functions. Tractable closed-form expressions are derived for a large part of the parameter space. We also provide simple method to determine the transition point which connects local solutions in different physical limits. The validity of the analytical approximations is shown by comparison with numerical results of simulations.
