On the endpoint estimate for discrete spherical average over sparse sequences

Let $d\geq5$. For a strictly increasing sequence $(μ_k)$ of positive integers, set $λ_k=μ_k!$ and consider the lacunary discrete spherical maximal operator $A_\star f:=\sup_k |A_{λ_k}f|$ associated with the discrete spherical averages \[ A_λf(x):=\frac1{s_λ}\sum_{\substack{n\in\mathbb{Z}^d,\\ |n|^2=λ}} f(x-n), \] where $s_λ:=\#\{n\in\mathbb{Z}^d:|n|^2=λ\}$. Kesler, Lacey and Mena proved that $A_\star$ is bounded on $\ell^p(\mathbb{Z}^d)$ for every $p>1$ if $\logμ_k/\log k\longrightarrow\infty$, and asked about its endpoint behavior at $\ell\log\ell$. We resolve this endpoint question by characterizing all factorial sequences for which the $\ell\log\ell$ estimate holds. Define \[ C_{\log}=\sup_{N\geq2}\frac{\#\left\{k\geq 1:μ_k\leq N\right\}}{1+\log N}. \] We prove that the $\ell\log\ell$ endpoint estimate holds if and only if $C_{\log}<\infty$. More precisely, if $C_{\log}<\infty$, then for every $α>0$ and every finitely supported $f:\mathbb{Z}^d\to\mathbb C$, \begin{align*} \#\{x\in\mathbb{Z}^d:A_\star f(x)>α\} \leq C_d(1+C_{\log})\sum_x \frac{|f(x)|}α \left(1+\log^+\frac{|f(x)|}α\right), \end{align*} where $C_d$ depends only on $d$. Conversely, if the above inequality holds with a finite constant $C_0$ in place of $C_d(1+C_{\log})$, then $C_{\log}\leq C_d(1+C_0)$.

Commutators with two matrix weights

Let $U,V$ be matrix $\mathcal A_p$ weights, $1 d$ and $\mathcal S^{d,\infty}$ membership by $\ell^r$ and weak $\ell^d$ conditions on the two Hilbert--Schmidt cube oscillations. For $0<r\leq d$, $\mathcal S^r$ membership is equivalent to $B$ being constant almost everywhere. The weak endpoint condition implies a weighted first-order Sobolev estimate for $C^1$ symbols, with a converse for constant or uniformly elliptic weights.

Lacunary $δ$-Discretised Spherical Maximal Operators

We study the lacunary analogue of the $δ$-discretised spherical maximal operators introduced by Hickman and Jančar, for $δ\in (0, 1/2)$, and establish the boundedness on $L^p$ for all $1 < p < \infty$, along with the endpoint weak-type estimate $H^1 \to L^{1,\infty}$. We also prove the corresponding $L^p$ boundedness for the multi-parameter variant. The constants in these bounds are uniform in $δ$, and thus, by taking the limit $δ\to 0^+$, our results recover the classical boundedness of the lacunary spherical maximal function.

On the Hausdorff measure of projections of self-similar sets

For $0<d\leq1/4$, let $\mathcal{C}(d)$ be the four-corner Cantor set with Hausdorff dimension $s_d=\log 4/\log(1/d)$. Peres, Simon, and Solomyak, as well as Mattila, asked for which $d$ the measure $\Hau^{s_d}(p_θ(\mathcal{C}(d)))$ is positive for almost every direction $θ$. It was open for the range $1/9\leq d\leq1/6$. In this paper, we show that, for $δ< d\leq1/6$, there is a set $\IP(d)$ of positive Lebesgue measure such that for almost every $θ\in\IP(d)$, $\Hau^{s_d}(p_θ(\mathcal{C}(d)))=0$, where $δ=0.155124983896014\ldots$ is the unique zero in $(1/9,1/6)$ of the polynomial $P(d)=1-7d+3d^2+4d^3-2d^4-d^5$.

Two-weight commutators for the Bessel Riesz transform with Andersen--Kerman weights

Let $α>-1/2$, $α\ne0$, and let $$ Δ_α=-\frac{d^2}{dx^2}-\frac{2α}{x}\frac{d}{dx} $$ be the Bessel operator on $\mathbb R_+=(0,\infty)$. We characterize boundedness and compactness of commutators of $R_α=\frac{d}{dx}Δ_α^{-1/2}$ on the Andersen--Kerman two-weight setting. For $1<p<\infty$ and $μ,λ\in A_{p,α}$, put $ ν=\left(\fracμλ\right)^{1/p}, \ dρ_α(x)=x^{2α+1}\,dx. $ For real-valued symbols, $$ \|[b,R_α]\|_{L^p(μ\,dx)\to L^p(λ\,dx)} \simeq \|b\|_{\rm{BMO}_{ν,α}}, $$ where the Bloom oscillation is computed with respect to $dρ_α$. Moreover $$ [b,R_α]:L^p(μ\,dx)\to L^p(λ\,dx) \text{ is compact} \quad\Longleftrightarrow\quad b\in\rm{VMO}_{ν,α}. $$ The proof uses the exact conjugation $ U_w(x)=x^{p-2α-1}w(x), \ [U_w]_{A_p(ρ_α)}=[w]_{A_{p,α}}, $ which transfers the problem to the quotient Bessel kernel on $(\mathbb R_+,|x-y|,ρ_α)$. We isolate the required Calderón--Zygmund estimates and one-sided non-degeneracy in this quotient normalization. The measure $dρ_α$ is distinct from the usual Bessel measure $dm_α=x^{2α}\,dx$. It is the Bloom base measure selected by the Andersen--Kerman conjugation and is used throughout the two-weight theory below.

On the Peres--Schlag orthogonal projection problem and Kakeya-type sets

We investigate the Peres--Schlag nonempty interior problem for orthogonal projections in both the finite-field and Euclidean settings. Over finite fields $\mathbb F_q^n$, we employ the polynomial method to establish sharp projection results, and uncover a new connection with stability versions of the finite-field \((n,m)\)-set problem. Over Euclidean spaces $\mathbb R^n$, we obtain improved nonempty interior results beyond those of Peres and Schlag in certain parameter ranges. Our proof combines techniques from geometric measure theory and harmonic analysis, including $L^p$-estimates for Kakeya maximal operators and maximal $k$-plane transforms.

Peres--Schlag's nonempty-interior problem and a shifted-product variant for product sets

We study finite-field analogues of the Peres--Schlag nonempty-interior problem for product sets. Given \(A\subseteq\mathbb F_p\), we ask when a suitable one-dimensional linear image of \(A^n\) is full; equivalently, when there exist coefficients \(t_1,\ldots,t_n\in\mathbb F_p\) such that \[ t_1A+\cdots+t_nA=\mathbb F_p. \] For \(n\ge3\), we prove that, for every \(η>0\), this holds whenever \[ |A|\gg_{n,η} p^{\frac{3}{2n-1}+η}. \] This improves the exponent predicted by the direct product-set analogue of the Peres--Schlag threshold, namely \(|A|\gg p^{2/n}\). We also prove a two-dimensional near-half-density result. Motivated by sum-product phenomena, we also introduce and study a product-type variant in which linear forms are replaced by shifted product maps. We prove finite-field covering results for shifted products \[ (t_1 + A)(t_2 + A)\cdots(t_n + A) \] at the same density scale as in the linear case. Finally, we prove a Euclidean shifted-product analogue: if \(A\subseteq\mathbb R\) is Borel and \(\dim_H A>2/n\), then some shifted product of \(n\) copies of \(A\) contains a nonempty open interval.

A curved three-point pattern problem for fractal sets on the real line

We study the occurrence of curved three-point configurations in fractal subsets of the real line. We prove that if \(E \subset [0,1]\) is a compact set with sufficiently large Hausdorff dimension, then \(E\) contains a curved three-point progression associated with a broad class of nonlinear functions. Our approach can also show the existence of the curved three-point pattern under the assumption that the Hausdorff content of \(E\) is bounded away from zero. The class of functions includes, in addition to polynomials with vanishing constant term, nonlinear functions such as \[ t^k \log(1+t), \quad \forall k \geq 1. \]

Haar bases for multi-parameter twisted structures

Motivated by the Cauchy--Szegő projections on a broad class of Siegel domains and the geometric quotient structures of nilpotent Lie groups observed by Nagel, Ricci, and Stein, we develop a martingale and Haar wavelet framework for twisted multi-parameter geometries. We introduce twisted dyadic filtrations and construct adapted Haar bases on Euclidean spaces $\mathbb{R}^{2m}$. Each of the resulting dyadic systems forms a complete orthonormal basis of $L^2(\mathbb R^{2m})$, and their union yields a tight frame with frame bound $3$. We establish $L^p$-equivalences for the associated discrete twisted Littlewood--Paley square functions. Furthermore, we extend this discrete real-variable theory to the non-abelian setting of a nilpotent Lie group of step two, $\mathscr{N}$, which serves as the Shilov boundary of certain fundamental Siegel domains. By projecting product fractal tiles from a lifting group of Heisenberg products, we define twisted dyadic shards and construct twisted nilpotent Haar frames. More precisely, we first introduce raw projected shards that reflect the quotient geometry, and then pass to analytic dyadic shards which are exactly rectifiable and remain uniformly comparable to the raw quotient structure in the relevant scale regimes. This yields a discrete framework adapted to twisted quotient geometries in both the Euclidean and nilpotent settings, providing a basic dyadic infrastructure for further developments in twisted real-variable theory.

Maximal functions with twisted structures, distribution inequality and applications

Motivated by the geometric reduction of Cauchy--Szegő projections on quadratic surfaces of higher codimension (Nagel--Ricci--Stein, 2001) and recent developments on the real-variable theory adapted to twisted multiparameter structures (arXiv:2603.26119), we establish the Fefferman--Stein type distribution inequality relating the twisted area function and the twisted non-tangential maximal function over $\mathbb{R}^{2m}$. By deploying a recursive integration-by-parts argument involving the twisted gradient and Laplacian, and constructing smooth, compactly supported weight functions to absorb cross-derivative errors, we obtain the required estimate. As an application, we prove the uniform $L^1$ boundedness of the twisted maximal function on the twisted atoms and complete the maximal function characterization of the twisted Hardy space.

Twisted Multiparameter singular integrals -- real variable methods and applications, I

In this paper, we introduce a class of twisted multiparameter singular integrals on $\mathbb{R}^{2m}$, motivated by the Cauchy--Szegő projections and the solving operators for $\bar{\partial}_b$ on a broad family of quadratic surfaces of higher codimension in $\mathbb{C}^n$. These surfaces are represented as suitable quotients of products of Heisenberg groups, a framework illustrated by Stein (Notices Amer. Math. Soc., 1998). While classical multiparameter product and flag theories are well-developed, Nagel, Ricci, and Stein observed a critical limitation: the class of product operators is not closed under passage to a quotient subgroup. To handle the geometric reduction that models these quotient structures, we take the first step in developing an adapted real-variable theory. We achieve this by introducing twisted tube systems and tube maximal functions, establishing a reproducing formula, Littlewood--Paley theory, a Journé-type covering lemma, and atomic decompositions. As particular examples, we obtain twisted Fourier multipliers -- which emerge as novel, direction-sensitive, and anisotropic phase-shift converters with potential applications in signal and image processing.

The Brascamp--Lieb inequality on compact Lie groups and its extinction on homogeneous Lie groups

We study the Brascamp--Lieb inequalities on locally compact nonabelian groups and the Brascamp--Lieb constants $\mathbf{BL}(G, \boldsymbolσ, \boldsymbol{p})$ associated to a Brascamp--Lieb datum: locally compact groups $G$ and $G_j$, a family of homomorphisms $σ_j: G \to G_j$ and Lebesgue indices $p_j$. We focus on homogeneous Lie groups and compact Lie groups. For homogeneous Lie groups $G$, we show that the constant $\mathbf{BL}(G, \boldsymbolσ, \boldsymbol{p})$ is equal to the constant $\mathbf{BL}(\mathfrak{g}, \boldsymbol{\mathrm{d}σ}, \boldsymbol{p})$, where $\mathfrak{g}$ is the Lie algebra of $G$ and $\mathrm{d}σ_j$ is the differential of $σ_j$. For Heisenberg-like groups $G$, we show that the only inequalities that can occur are multilinear Hölder inequalities. For compact Lie groups, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for finiteness of the constant $\mathbf{BL}(G, \boldsymbolσ, \boldsymbol{p})$ in terms of $\boldsymbolσ$ and $\boldsymbol{p}$ and find an explicit expression for the constant, similar to those found by Bennett and Jeong in the abelian case.

On Pinned Falconer Distance Problem for Cartesian Product Sets: the Parabolic Method

The Falconer distance problem for Cartesian product sets was introduced and studied by Iosevich and Liu (\cite{MR3525385}). In this paper, by implementing a new observation on Cartesian product sets associated with a particular parabolic structure, we study the pinned version of Falconer distance problem for Cartesian product sets, and improve the threshold for the Falconer distance set in \cite{MR3525385} in certain case.

Muckenhoupt-Type Weights and Quantitative Weighted Estimate in the Bessel Setting

Part of the intrinsic structure of singular integrals in the Bessel setting is captured by Muckenhoupt-type weights. Anderson--Kerman showed that the Bessel Riesz transform is bounded on weighted $L^p_w$ if and only if $w$ is in the class $A_{p,λ}$. We introduce a new class of Muckenhoupt-type weights $\widetilde A_{p,λ}$ in the Bessel setting, which is different from $A_{p,λ}$ but characterizes the weighted boundedness for the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operators. We also establish the weighted $L^p$ boundedness and compactness, as well as the endpoint weak type boundedness of Riesz commutators. The quantitative weighted bound is also established.

Muckenhoupt-type weights and the intrinsic structure in Bessel Setting

Fix $λ>-1/2$ and $λ\not=0$. Consider the Bessel operator (introduced by Muckenhoupt--Stein) $\triangle_λ:=-\frac{d^2}{dx^2}-\frac{2λ}{x} \frac d{dx}$ on $\mathbb{R_+}:=(0,\infty)$ with $dm_λ(x):=x^{2λ}dx$ and $dx$ the Lebesgue measure on $\mathbb{R_+}$. In this paper, we study the Muckenhoupt-type weights which reveal the intrinsic structure in this Bessel setting along the line of Muckenhoupt--Stein and Andersen--Kerman. Besides, exploiting more properties of the weights $A_{p,λ}$ introduced by Andersen--Kerman, we introduce a new class $\widetilde{A}_{p,λ}$ such that the Hardy--Littlewood maximal function is bounded on the weighted $L^p_w$ space if and only if $w$ is in $\widetilde A_{p,λ}$. Moreover, along the line of Coifman--Rochberg--Weiss, we investigate the commutator $[b,R_λ]$ with $R_λ:=\frac{d}{dx}(\triangle_λ)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ to be the Bessel Riesz transform. We show that for $w\in A_{p,λ}$, the commutator $[b, R_λ]$ is bounded on weighted $L^p_w$ if and only if $b$ is in the BMO space associated with $\triangle_λ$.
