Extensional concepts in intensional type theory, revisited

Revisiting a classic result from M. Hofmann's dissertation, we give a direct proof of Morita equivalence, in the sense of V. Isaev, between extensional type theory and intensional type theory extended by the principles of functional extensionality and of uniqueness of identity proofs.

Yet another cubical type theory, but via a semantic approach

We propose a new cubical type theory, termed (self-deprecatingly) the naive cubical type theory, and study its semantics using the universe category framework, which is similar to Uemura's categories with representable morphisms. In particular, we show that this new type theory admits an interpretation in a wide variety of settings, including simplicial sets and cartesian cubical sets.

(Pointed) Univalence in Universe Category Models of Type Theory

We provide a formulation of the univalence axiom in a universe category model of dependent type theory that is convenient to verify in homotopy-theoretic settings. We further develop a strengthening of the univalence axiom, called pointed univalence, that is both computationally desirable and semantically natural, and verify its closure under Artin-Wraith gluing and formation of inverse diagrams.

A Toolkit for Structured Lifts

We develop a general framework for working with structured lifting problems, establishing closure and uniqueness properties of their solutions. In a subsequent paper, we apply these results to axiomatize computation rules of cubical type theory.

Fast computation of the first discrete homology group

We present a new algorithm for computing the first discrete homology group of a graph. By testing the algorithm on different data sets of random graphs, we find that it significantly outperforms other known algorithms.

Cubical models of $\infty$-presheaves and the Bousfield-Kan formula

We construct the covariant and the cocartesian model structures on the slice categories of cubical sets and marked cubical sets, respectively. As an application, we derive a version of the Bousfield-Kan formula for arbitrary cofibrantly generated monoidal model categories satisfying Muro's axiom.

Derived mapping spaces of $\infty$-categories

We prove the Derived Mapping Space Lemma, which generalizes the central theorem of Cisinski's work on calculus of fractions for $\infty$-categories, and allows us to provide a unified framework for analyzing mapping spaces in localizations of ($\infty$-)categories. As an application, we give a sufficient condition for when a cubical or simplicial category is the localization of its underlying category at homotopy equivalences.

Calculus of Fractions for Quasicategories

We describe a generalization of Gabriel and Zisman's Calculus of Fractions to quasicategories, showing that the two essentially coincide for the nerve of a category. We then prove that the marked Ex-functor can be used to compute the localization of a marked quasicategory satisfying our condition and that the appropriate (co)completeness properties of the quasicategory carry over to its localization.

Pushforwards in Inverse Homotopical Diagrams

We establish a sufficient condition for the category of homotopical inverse diagrams to be closed under pushforward inside the category of inverse diagrams in a fibration category.

Logical Structure on Inverse Functor Categories

Inspired by recent work on the categorical semantics of dependent type theories, we investigate the following question: When is logical structure (crucially, dependent-product and subobject-classifier structure) induced from a category to categories of diagrams in it? Our work offers several answers, providing a variety of conditions on both the category itself and the indexing category of diagrams. Additionally, motivated by homotopical considerations, we investigate the case when the indexing category is equipped with a class of weak equivalences and study conditions under which the localization map induces a structure-preserving functor between presheaf categories.

Nonexistence of colimits in naive discrete homotopy theory

We show that the quasicategory defined as the localization of the category of (simple) graphs at the class of A-homotopy equivalences does not admit colimits. In particular, we settle in the negative the question of whether the A-homotopy equivalences in the category of graphs are part of a model structure.

The Hurewicz theorem for cubical homology

We give an elementary proof of the Hurewicz theorem relating homotopy and homology groups of a cubical Kan complex. Our approach is based on the notion of a loop space of a cubical set, developed in a companion paper ``Homotopy groups of cubical sets'' by the first two authors.

Cubical models of $(\infty, 1)$-categories

We construct a model structure on the category of cubical sets with connections whose cofibrations are the monomorphisms and whose fibrant objects are defined by the right lifting property with respect to inner open boxes, the cubical analogue of inner horns. We show that this model structure is Quillen equivalent to the Joyal model structure on simplicial sets via the triangulation functor. As an application, we show that cubical quasicategories admit a convenient notion of a mapping space, which we use to characterize the weak equivalences between fibrant objects in our model structure as DK-equivalences.

Homotopical inverse diagrams in categories with attributes

We define and develop the infrastructure of homotopical inverse diagrams in categories with attributes. Specifically, given a category with attributes $C$ and an ordered homotopical inverse category $I$, we construct the category with attributes $C^I$ of homotopical diagrams of shape $I$ in $C$ and Reedy types over these; and we show how various logical structure ($Π$-types, identity types, and so on) lifts from $C$ to $C^I$. This may be seen as providing a general class of diagram models of type theory. In a companion paper "The homotopy theory of type theories" (arXiv:1610.00037), we apply the present results to construct semi-model structures on categories of contextual categories.

A co-reflection of cubical sets into simplicial sets with applications to model structures

We show that the category of simplicial sets is a co-reflective subcategory of the category of cubical sets with connections, with the inclusion given by a version of the straightening functor. We show that using the co-reflector, one can transfer any cofibrantly generated model structure in which cofibrations are monomorphisms to cubical sets, thus obtaining cubical analogues of the Quillen and Joyal model structures.
