Scale dependence of non-factorizable virtual corrections to Higgs boson production in weak boson fusion

The renormalization-scale dependence of the non-factorizable virtual corrections to Higgs boson production in weak boson fusion at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD is unusually strong, due to the peculiar nature of these corrections. To address this problem, we compute the three-loop non-factorizable contribution to this process which accounts for the running of the strong coupling constant, and show that it stabilizes the theoretical prediction.

On the non-factorizable corrections to Higgs boson production in weak boson fusion

We discuss the non-factorizable corrections to Higgs boson production in weak boson fusion at the Large Hadron Collider. Such corrections depend on the finite part of the two-loop virtual amplitude $q \, Q \rightarrow q^\prime \, Q^\prime + H$ which, up to now, has only been computed in the eikonal approximation. We combine this contribution with real-virtual and double-real non-factorizable QCD corrections and study their impact on the various observables in weak boson fusion. We find that the non-factorizable corrections are strongly dominated by the two-loop virtual contributions, while all other contributions play a very minor role. This striking imbalance between real and virtual contributions is caused by a process-specific kinematic suppression of the former and a particular enhancement of the virtual corrections related to a Glauber phase.

Non-factorisable contributions to $t$-channel single-top production at the LHC and FCC

Single top quark is mainly produced through the $t$-channel W boson exchange $q + b \rightarrow q' + t$ at LHC. This process probes Wtb vertex directly and can be used to measure the CKM matrix element $V_{tb}$ or to constrain the bottom quark PDF. The non-factorisable contributions are the last missing piece of the NNLO corrections. In these proceedings, we discuss in a first part the ostensible importance of such corrections and the obtention of the different relevant amplitudes. In the second part, recently published results at the energy of the LHC are compared to new results for proton-proton collision at $100 \: {\rm TeV}$, the energy of the FCC.

Non-factorisable contribution to $t$-channel single-top production

We compute the non-factorisable ${\cal O}(α_s^2)$ corrections to $t$-channel single-top quark production at the LHC. These peculiar corrections arise because of interactions between the heavy- and the light-quark lines and appear for the very first time at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. We find that the non-factorisable corrections change the single-top production cross section and the relevant kinematic distributions in this process by about half a percent.

Non-factorisable two-loop contribution to $t$-channel single-top production

We report on a recent computation of the non-factorisable contribution to the two-loop helicity amplitude for $t$-channel single-top production arXiv:2108.09222. This is the last missing piece of the two-loop virtual corrections to this process. We perform analytic integration-by-parts reduction to master integrals and use the auxiliary mass flow method for their fast numerical evaluation. The impact of the non-factorisable corrections to single-top production on experimentally measured observables is estimated.

On non-factorisable contributions to $t$-channel single-top production

We compute the non-factorisable contribution to the two-loop helicity amplitude for $t$-channel single-top production, the last missing piece of the two-loop virtual corrections to this process. Our calculation employs analytic reduction to master integrals and the auxiliary mass flow method for their fast numerical evaluation. We study the impact of these corrections on basic observables that are measured experimentally in the single-top production process.

Virtual QCD corrections to gluon-initiated diphoton plus jet production at hadron colliders

We present an analytic computation of the gluon-initiated contribution to diphoton plus jet production at hadron colliders up to two loops in QCD. We reconstruct the analytic form of the finite remainders from numerical evaluations over finite fields including all colour contributions. Compact expressions are found using the pentagon function basis. We provide a fast and stable implementation for the colour- and helicity-summed interference between the one-loop and two-loop finite remainders in C++ as part of the NJet library.

Top quark contribution to two-loop helicity amplitudes for $Z$ boson pair production in gluon fusion

We compute the top quark contribution to the two-loop amplitude for on-shell $Z$ boson pair production in gluon fusion, $gg \to ZZ$. Exact dependence on the top quark mass is retained. For each phase space point the integral reduction is performed numerically and the master integrals are evaluated using the auxiliary mass flow method, allowing fast computation of the amplitude with very high precision.

Contribution of third generation quarks to two-loop helicity amplitudes for W boson pair production in gluon fusion

We compute the contribution of third generation quarks ($t,\ b$) to the two-loop amplitude for on-shell $W$ boson pair production in gluon fusion $gg \to WW$. We present plots for the amplitude across partonic phase space as well as reference values for two kinematic points. The master integrals are efficiently evaluated by numerically solving a system of ordinary differential equations.

A numerical evaluation of planar two-loop helicity amplitudes for a W-boson plus four partons

We present the first numerical results for the two-loop helicity amplitudes for the scattering of four partons and a W-boson in QCD. We use a finite field sampling method to reduce directly from Feynman diagrams to the coefficients of a set of master integrals after applying integration-by-parts identities. Since the basis of master integrals is not yet fully known analytically, we identify a set of master integrals with a simple divergence structure using local numerator insertions. This allows for accurate numerical evaluation of the amplitude using sector decomposition methods.

Analytic helicity amplitudes for two-loop five-gluon scattering: the single-minus case

We present a compact analytic expression for the leading colour two-loop five-gluon amplitude in Yang-Mills theory with a single negative helicity and four positive helicities. The analytic result is reconstructed from numerical evaluations over finite fields. The numerical method combines integrand reduction, integration-by-parts identities and Laurent expansion into a basis of pentagon functions to compute the coefficients directly from six-dimensional generalised unitarity cuts.

Applications of integrand reduction to two-loop five-point scattering amplitudes in QCD

We review the current state-of-the-art in integrand level reduction for five-point scattering amplitudes at two loops in QCD. We present some benchmark results for the evaluation of the leading colour two-loop five-gluon amplitudes in the physical region as well as the partonic channels for two quarks and three gluons and four quarks and one gluon.

A first look at two-loop five-gluon scattering in QCD

We compute the leading colour contributions to five-gluon scattering at two loops in massless QCD. The integrands of all independent helicity amplitudes are evaluated using d-dimensional generalised unitarity cuts and finite field reconstruction techniques. Numerical evaluation of the integral basis is performed with sector decomposition methods to obtain the first benchmark results for all helicity configurations of a 2 to 3 scattering process in QCD.

A unitarity compatible approach to one-loop amplitudes with massive fermions

We explain how one-loop amplitudes with massive fermions can be computed using only on-shell information. We first use the spinor-helicity formalism in six dimensions to perform generalised unitarity cuts in $d$ dimensions. We then show that divergent wavefunction cuts can be avoided, and the remaining ambiguities in the renormalised amplitudes can be fixed, by matching to universal infrared poles in $4-2ε$ dimensions and ultraviolet poles in $6-2ε$ dimensions. In the latter case we construct an effective Lagrangian in six dimensions and reduce the additional constraint to an on-shell tree-level computation.
