UTD-CRSS Systems for 2016 NIST Speaker Recognition Evaluation

This document briefly describes the systems submitted by the Center for Robust Speech Systems (CRSS) from The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) to the 2016 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Speaker Recognition Evaluation (SRE). We developed several UBM and DNN i-Vector based speaker recognition systems with different data sets and feature representations. Given that the emphasis of the NIST SRE 2016 is on language mismatch between training and enrollment/test data, so-called domain mismatch, in our system development we focused on: (1) using unlabeled in-domain data for centralizing data to alleviate the domain mismatch problem, (2) finding the best data set for training LDA/PLDA, (3) using newly proposed dimension reduction technique incorporating unlabeled in-domain data before PLDA training, (4) unsupervised speaker clustering of unlabeled data and using them alone or with previous SREs for PLDA training, (5) score calibration using only unlabeled data and combination of unlabeled and development (Dev) data as separate experiments.

Entanglement Creation and Storage in Two Qubits Coupling to an Anisotropic Heisenberg Spin Chain

The time evolution of the entanglement of a pair of two spin qubits is investigated when the two qubits simultaneously couple to an environment of an anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ spin chain. The entanglement of the two spin qubits can be created and is a periodic function of the time if the magnetic field is greater than a critical value. If the two spin qubits are in the Bell state, the entanglement can be stored with relatively large value even when the magnetic field is large.

Quantify Entanglement for Multipartite Quantum States

In this paper, we consider the problem of how to quantify entanglement for any multipartite quantum states. For bipartite pure states partial entropy is a good entanglement measure. By using partial entropy, we firstly introduce the Combinatorial Entropy of Fully entangled states (CEF) which can be used to quantify entanglement for any fully entangled pure states. In order to quantify entanglement for any multipartite states we also need another concept the Entanglement Combination (EC) which can be used to completely describe the entanglement between any parties of the given quantum states. Combining CEF with EC, we define the Combinatorial Entropy (CE) for any multipartite pure states and present some nice properties which indicate CE is a good entanglement measure. Finally, we point out the feasibility of extending these three concepts to mixed quantum states.
