Asymptotic dynamics of inhibitory networks for the NNLIF Model in the large-delay limit

We investigate the impact of large synaptic delays on the emergence of periodic dynamics in inhibitory neuronal networks, within the framework of the NNLIF model. Inspired by the work of [11] where the notion of pseudo-equilibria was introduced and developed, and by our earlier analysis in [14], we show that, as the delay tends to infinity, solutions of sufficitently inhibitory networks oscillate between distinct pseudo-equilibria over any finite time interval. Employing the Doeblin-Harris method, we rigorously establish a local convergence in the Ces{à}ro mean toward a limit function determined solely by these pseudo-equilibria.

A Fokker-Planck equation with superlinear drift at infinity for Integrate-and-Fire model

The Integrate-and-Fire model is a Fokker-Planck equation arising in neuroscience. It describes the evolution of the probability density of the neuronal membrane potential and fitting has shown that the inclusion of a em superlinear drift provides the most realistic description. To make sense of this, we propose to set the equation on the full line, the neural activity being described by the flux at infinity. This framework serves as a model extension of the classical Noisy Integrate-and-Fire model, with a fixed firing potential. We first establish the well-posedness of the solution, establish the boundary condition at infinity which is the major difficulty. Then, state rigorously the entropy dissipation property. Finally, using Doeblin's method, we prove the exponential convergence of the solution toward the unique stationary state in full generality.

Strongly nonlinear age structured equation,time-elapsed model and large delays

The time-elapsed model for neural networks is a nonlinear age structured equationwhere the renewal term describes the network activity and influences the dischargerate, possibly with a delay due to the length of connections. We solve a long standing question, namely that an inhibitory network withoutdelay will converge to a steady state and thus the network is desynchonised. Ourapproach is based on the observation that a non-expansion property holds true. However a non-degeneracy condition is needed and, besides the standard one, weintroduce a new condition based on strict nonlinearity. When a delay is included, and following previous works for Fokker-Planck models,we prove that the network may generate periodic solutions. We introduce a newformalism to establish rigorously this property for large delays. The fundamental contraction property also holds for some other age structuredequations and systems.

New portions of $M\setminus L$ and a lower bound on the Hausdorff distance between $L$ and $M$

Let $M$ and $L$ be the Markov and Lagrange spectra, respectively. It is known that $L$ is contained in $M$ and Freiman showed in 1968 that $M\setminus L\neq \emptyset$. In 2018 the first region of $M\setminus L$ above $\sqrt{12}$ was discovered by C. Matheus and C. G. Moreira, thus disproving a conjecture of Cusick of 1975. In 2022, the same authors together with L. Jeffreys discovered a new region near 3.938. In this paper, we will study two new regions of $M\setminus L$ above $\sqrt{12}$, in the vicinity of the Markov value of two periodic words of odd length that are non semisymmetric, which are $\overline{212332111}$ and $\overline{123332112}$. We will demonstrate that for both cases, there is a maximal gap of $L$ and a Gauss-Cantor set inside this gap that is contained in $M$. Moreover we show that at the right endpoint of those gaps we have local Hausdorff dimension equal to $1$. After studying the mentioned examples, we will provide a lower bound for the value of $d_H(M,L)$ (the Hausdorff distance between $M$ and $L$).
