The coloured mutation class of $\mathbb{D}_n$- quivers and their application to $m$-cluster tilted algebras

In this paper, we present an explicit and purely combinatorial characterization of the $m$-coloured quivers that appear within the $m$-coloured mutation class of a quiver of type $\mathbb{D}_n$. The $m$-coloured mutation, as defined by Buan and Thomas in \cite{BT}, generalises the well-known quiver mutation introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky \cite{FZ}. Consequently, we derive a comprehensive description of the Gabriel quivers associated with $m$-cluster-tilted algebras of type $\mathbb{D}_n$. Notably, our characterization extends a result by Vatne, \cite{Va}, which we recover when $m=1$.

On the Dynamics of Linear Finite Dynamical Systems Over Galois Rings

Linear finite dynamical systems play an important role, for example, in coding theory and simulations. Methods for analyzing such systems are often restricted to cases in which the system is defined over a field %and usually strive to achieve a complete description of the system and its dynamics. or lack practicability to effectively analyze the system's dynamical behavior. However, when analyzing and prototyping finite dynamical systems, it is often desirable to quickly obtain basic information such as the length of cycles and transients that appear in its dynamics, which is reflected in the structure of the connected components of the corresponding functional graphs. In this paper, we extend the analysis of the dynamics of linear finite dynamical systems that act over cyclic modules to Galois rings. Furthermore, we propose algorithms for computing the length of the cycles and the height of the trees that make up their functional graphs.

The coloured mutation class of $\mathbb{A}_n$ quivers

In this paper we give an explicit and pure combinatorial description of the $m$-coloured quivers that appears in the $m$-coloured mutation class of a quiver of type $\mathbb{A}_n$. The $m$-coloured mutation defined by Buan and Thomas in \cite{BT} generalizes the well-known quiver mutation of Fomin and Zelevinsky \cite{FZ}. In particular, our description generalizes a result of Buan and Vatne, \cite{BV}, which we recover when $m=1$.

On the non-existence of perfect codes in the Niederreiter-Rosenbloom-Tsfasman metric

In this paper we consider codes in $\mathbb{F}_q^{s\times r}$ with packing radius $R$ regarding the NRT-metric (i.e. when the underlying poset is a disjoint union of chains with the same length) and we establish necessary condition on the parameters $s,r$ and $R$ for the existence of perfect codes. More explicitly, for $r,s\geq 2$ and $R\geq 1$ we prove that if there is a non-trivial perfect code then $(r+1)(R+1)\leq rs$. We also explore a connection to the knapsack problem and establish a correspondence between perfect codes with $r>R$ and those with $r=R$. Using this correspondence we prove the non-existence of non-trivial perfect codes also for $s=R+2$.

Qubo model for the Closest Vector Problem

In this paper we consider the closest vector problem (CVP) for lattices $Λ\subseteq \mathbb{Z}^n$ given by a generator matrix $A\in \mathcal{M}_{n\times n}(\mathbb{Z})$. Let $b>0$ be the maximum of the absolute values of the entries of the matrix $A$. We prove that the CVP can be reduced in polynomial time to a quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problem in $O(n^2(\log(n)+\log(b)))$ binary variables, where the length of the coefficients in the corresponding quadratic form is $O(n(\log(n)+\log(b)))$.

On the functional graph of the power map over finite groups

In this paper we study the description of the functional graphs associated with the power maps over finite groups. We present a structural result which describes the isomorphism class of these graphs for abelian groups and also for flower groups, which is a special class of non abelian groups introduced in this paper. Unlike the abelian case where all the trees associated with periodic points are isomorphic, in the case of flower groups we prove that several different classes of trees can occur. The class of central trees (i.e. associated with periodic points that are in the center of the group) are in general non-elementary and a recursive description is given in this work. Flower groups include many non abelian groups such as dihedral and generalized quaternion groups, and the projective general linear group of order two over a finite field. In particular, we provide improvements on past works regarding the description of the dynamics of the power map over these groups.

Dynamics of the $a$-map over residually finite Dedekind Domains and applications

Let $\mathfrak D$ be a residually finite Dedekind domain, $a\in \mathfrak D$ be a nonzero element and $\mathfrak n$ be a nonzero ideal of $\mathfrak D$. In this paper we describe the dynamics of the map $x\mapsto ax$ over the quotient ring $\mathfrak D/\mathfrak n$. We further present some applications of our main result.

Periods of iterations of functions with restricted preimage sizes

We consider random mappings on n = kr nodes with preimage sizes restricted to a set of the form {0,k}, where k = k(r) is greater than 1. We prove that T, the least common multiple of the cycle lengths, and B= the product of the cycle lengths, are both asymptotically lognormal. The expected values of these random variables are also also estimated and compared with numerical results. This work is motivated, in part, by the use of these mappings as heuristic models for polynomials of the form x^k + a over the integers modulo p with p congruent to 1 mod k.

On the non-existence of linear perfect Lee codes: The Zhang-Ge condition and a new polynomial criterion

The Golomb-Welch conjecture (1968) states that there are no $e$-perfect Lee codes in $\mathbb{Z}^n$ for $n\geq 3$ and $e\geq 2$. This conjecture remains open even for linear codes. A recent result of Zhang and Ge establishes the non-existence of linear $e$-perfect Lee codes in $\mathbb{Z}^n$ for infinitely many dimensions $n$, for $e=3$ and $4$. In this paper we extend this result in two ways. First, using the non-existence criterion of Zhang and Ge together with a generalized version of Lucas' theorem we extend the above result for almost all $e$ (i.e. a subset of positive integers with density $1$). Namely, if $e$ contains a digit $1$ in its base-$3$ representation which is not in the unit place (e.g. $e=3,4$) there are no linear $e$-perfect Lee codes in $\mathbb{Z}^n$ for infinitely many dimensions $n$. Next, based on a family of polynomials (the $Q$-polynomials), we present a new criterion for the non-existence of certain lattice tilings. This criterion depends on a prime $p$ and a tile $B$. For $p=3$ and $B$ being a Lee ball we recover the criterion of Zhang and Ge.

The set of dimensions for which there are no linear perfect 2-error-correcting Lee codes has positive density

The Golomb-Welch conjecture states that there are no perfect $e$-error-correcting Lee codes in $\mathbb{Z}^n$ ($PL(n,e)$-codes) whenever $n\geq 3$ and $e\geq 2$. A special case of this conjecture is when $e=2$. In a recent paper of A. Campello, S. Costa and the author of this paper, it is proved that the set $\mathcal{N}$ of dimensions $n\geq 3$ for which there are no linear $PL(n,2)$-codes is infinite and $\#\{n \in \mathcal{N}: n\leq x\} \geq \frac{x}{3\ln(x)/2} (1+o(1))$. In this paper we present a simple and elementary argument which allows to improve the above result to $\#\{n \in \mathcal{N}: n\leq x\} \geq \frac{4x}{25} (1+o(1))$. In particular, this implies that the set $\mathcal{N}$ has positive (lower) density in $\mathbb{Z}^+$.

On Equivalence of Binary Asymmetric Channels regarding the Maximum Likelihood Decoding

We study the problem of characterizing when two memoryless binary asymmetric channels, described by their transition probabilities $(p,q)$ and $(p',q')$, are equivalent from the point of view of maximum likelihood decoding (MLD) when restricted to $n$-block binary codes. This equivalence of channels induces a partition (depending on $n$) on the space of parameters $(p,q)$ into regions associated with the equivalence classes. Explicit expressions for describing these regions, their number and areas are derived. Some perspectives of applications of our results to decoding problems are also presented.

The Graph Structure of Chebyshev Polynomials over Finite Fields and Applications

We completely describe the functional graph associated to iterations of Chebyshev polynomials over finite fields. Then, we use our structural results to obtain estimates for the average rho length, average number of connected components and the expected value for the period and preperiod of iterating Chebyshev polynomials.

On Cube Tilings of Tori and Classification of Perfect Codes in the Maximum Metric

We describe odd-length-cube tilings of the n-dimensional q-ary torus what includes q-periodic integer lattice tilings of R^n. In the language of coding theory these tilings correspond to perfect codes with respect to the maximum metric. A complete characterization of the two-dimensional tillings is presented and in the linear case, a description of general matrices, isometry and isomorphism classes is provided. Several methods to construct perfect codes from codes of smaller dimension or via sections are derived. We introduce a special type of matrices (perfect matrices) which are in correspondence with generator matrices for linear perfect codes in arbitrary dimensions. For maximal perfect codes, a parametrization obtained allows to describe isomorphism classes of such codes. We also approach the problem of what isomorphism classes of abelian groups can be represented by q-ary n-dimensional perfect codes of a given cardinality N.
