The Heisenberg category of a category

Starting with a k-linear or DG category admitting a (homotopy) Serre functor, we construct a k-linear or DG 2-category categorifying the Heisenberg algebra of the numerical K-group of the original category. We also define a 2-categorical analogue of the Fock space representation of the Heisenberg algebra. Our construction generalises and unifies various categorical Heisenberg algebra actions appearing in the literature. In particular, we give a full categorical enhancement of the action on derived categories of symmetric quotient stacks introduced by Krug, which itself categorifies a Heisenberg algebra action proposed by Grojnowski.

Traces, Schubert calculus, and Hochschild cohomology of category $\mathcal{O}$

We discuss how the Hochschild cohomology of a dg category can be computed as the trace of its Serre functor. Applying this approach to the principal block of the Bernstein--Gelfand--Gelfand category $\mathcal{O}$, we obtain its Hochschild cohomology as the compactly supported cohomology of an associated space. Equivalently, writing $\mathcal{O}$ as modules over the endomorphism algebra $A$ of a minimal projective generator, this is the Hochschild cohomology of $A$. In particular our computation gives the Euler characteristic of the Hochschild cohomology of $\mathcal{O}$ in type A.

The de Rham functor for logarithmic D-modules

In the first part we deepen the six-functor theory of (holonomic) logarithmic D-modules, in particular with respect to duality and pushforward along projective morphisms. Then, inspired by work of Ogus, we define a logarithmic analogue of the de Rham functor, sending logarithmic D-modules to certain graded sheaves on the so-called Kato-Nakayama space. For holonomic modules we show that the associated sheaves have finitely generated stalks and that the de Rham functor intertwines duality for D-modules with a version of Poincaré-Verdier duality on the Kato-Nakayama space. Finally, we explain how the grading on the Kato-Nakayama space is related to the classical Kashiwara-Malgrange V-filtration for holonomic D-modules.

Graded topological spaces

We introduce the notion of a "graded topological space": a topological space endowed with a sheaf of abelian groups which we think of as a sheaf of gradings. Any object living on a graded topological space will be graded by this sheaf of abelian groups. We work out the fundamentals of sheaf theory and Poincaré-Verdier duality for such spaces.

Holonomic and perverse logarithmic D-modules

We introduce the notion of a holonomic D-module on a smooth (idealized) logarithmic scheme and show that Verdier duality can be extended to this context. In contrast to the classical case, the pushforward of a holonomic module along an open immersion is in general not holonomic. We introduce a "perverse" t-structure on the category of coherent logarithmic D-modules which makes the dualizing functor t-exact on holonomic modules. This allows us to transfer some of the formalism from the classical setting and in particular show that every holonomic module on an open subscheme can be extended to a holonomic module on the whole space. Conversely this t-exactness characterizes holonomic modules among all coherent logarithmic D-modules. We also introduce logarithmic versions of the Gabber and Kashiwara-Malgrange filtrations.

Hochschild cohomology of torus-equivariant D-modules

We discuss the Hochschild cohomology of the category of D-modules associated to an algebraic stack. In particular we describe the Hochschild cohomology of the category of torus-equivariant D-modules as the cohomology of a D-module on the loop space of the quotient stack. Finally, we give an approach for understanding the Hochschild cohomology of D-modules on general stacks via a relative compactification of the diagonal. This work is motivated by a desire to understand the support theory (in the sense of Benson-Iyengar-Krause) of D-modules on stacks.

Exotic t-structures and actions of quantum affine algebras

We explain how quantum affine algebra actions can be used to systematically construct "exotic" t-structures. The main idea, roughly speaking, is to take advantage of the two different descriptions of quantum affine algebras, the Drinfeld--Jimbo and the Kac--Moody realizations. Our main application is to obtain exotic t-structures on certain convolution varieties defined using the Beilinson--Drinfeld and affine Grassmannians. These varieties play an important role in the geometric Langlands program, knot homology constructions, K-theoretic geometric Satake and the coherent Satake category. As a special case we also recover the exotic t-structures of Bezrukavnikov--Mirkovic on the (Grothendieck--)Springer resolution in type A.

Exact functors on perverse coherent sheaves

Inspired by symplectic geometry and a microlocal characterizations of perverse (constructible) sheaves we consider an alternative definition of perverse coherent sheaves. We show that a coherent sheaf is perverse if and only if $RΓ_Z(\mathcal{F})$ is concentrated in degree 0 for special subvarieties Z of X. These subvarieties Z are analogs of Lagrangians in the symplectic case.
