Quantum Evolution And Sub-laplacian Operators On Groups Of Heisenberg Type

In this paper we analyze the evolution of the time averaged energy densities associated with a family of solutions to a Schr{ö}dinger equation on a Lie group of Heisenberg type. We use a semi-classical approach adapted to the stratified structure of the group and describe the semi-classical measures (also called quantum limits) that are associated with this family. This allows us to prove an Egorov's type Theorem describing the quantum evolution of a pseudodifferential semi-classical operator through the semi-group generated by a sub-Laplacian.

Wigner measures and effective mass theorems

We study a semi-classical Schr{ö}dinger equation which describes the dynamics of an electron in a crystal in the presence of impurities. It is well-known that under suitable assumptions on the initial data, the wave function can be approximated in the semi-classical limit by the solution of a simpler equation, the effective mass equation. Using Floquet-Bloch decomposition and with a non-degeneracy condition on the critical points of the Bloch bands, as it is classical in this subject, we establish effective mass equations for more general initial data. Then, when the critical points are degenerated (which may occur in dimension strictly larger than one), we prove that a similar analysis can be performed, leading to a new type of effective mass equations which are operator-valued and of Heisenberg form. Our analysis relies on Wigner measure theory and, more precisely, to its applications to the analysis of dispersion effects.

Semi-classical analysis on H-type groups

In this paper, we develop a semi-classical analysis on H-type groups. We define semi-classical pseudodifferential operators, prove the boundedness of their action on square integrable functions and develop a symbolic calculus. Then, we define the semi-classical measures of bounded families of square integrable functions which consists of a pair formed by a measure defined on the product of the group and its unitary dual, and by a field of trace class positive operators acting on the Hilbert spaces of the representations. We illustrate the theory by analyzing examples, which show in particular that this semi-classical analysis takes into account the finite-dimensioned representations of the group, even though they are negligible with respect to the Plancherel measure.

Semiclassical analysis of dispersion phenomena

Our aim in this work is to give some quantitative insight on the dispersive effects exhibited by solutions of a semiclassical Schr{ö}dinger-type equation in R d. We describe quantitatively the localisation of the energy in a long-time semiclassical limit within this non compact geometry and exhibit conditions under which the energy remains localized on compact sets. We also explain how our results can be applied in a straightforward way to describe obstructions to the validity of smoothing type estimates.

Defect measures on graded lie groups

In this article, we define a generalisation of microlocal defect measures (also known as H-measures) to the setting of graded nilpotent Lie groups. This requires to develop the notions of homogeneous symbols and classical pseudo-differential calculus adapted to this setting and defined via the representations of the groups. Our method relies on the study of the C *-algebra of 0-homogeneous symbols. Then, we compute microlocal defect measures for concentrating and oscillating sequences, which also requires to investigate the notion of oscillating sequences in graded Lie groups. Finally, we discuss compacity compactness approaches in the context of graded nilpotent Lie groups.

Phase-space analysis and pseudodifferential calculus on the Heisenberg group

A class of pseudodifferential operators on the Heisenberg group is defined. As it should be, this class is an algebra containing the class of differential operators. Furthermore, those pseudodifferential operators act continuously on Sobolev spaces and the loss of derivatives may be controled by the order of the operator. Although a large number of works have been devoted in the past to the construction and the study of algebras of variable-coefficient operators, including some very interesting works on the Heisenberg group, our approach is different, and in particular puts into light microlocal directions and completes, with the Littlewood-Paley theory developed in \cite{bgx} and \cite{bg}, a microlocal analysis of the Heisenberg group.

Long-time dynamics of completely integrable Schrödinger flows on the torus

In this article, we are concerned with long-time behaviour of solutions to a semi-classical Schrödinger-type equation on the torus. We consider time scales which go to infinity when the semi-classical parameter goes to zero and we associate with each time-scale the set of semi-classical measures associated with all possible choices of initial data. We emphasize the existence of a threshold: for time-scales below this threshold, the set of semi-classical measures contains measures which are singular with respect to Lebesgue measure in the "position" variable, while at (and beyond) the threshold, all the semi-classical measures are absolutely continuous in the "position" variable.

Wigner Measure Propagation and Conical Singularity for General Initial Data

We study the evolution of Wigner measures of a family of solutions of a Schrödinger equation with a scalar potential displaying a conical singularity. Under a genericity assumption, classical trajectories exist and are unique, thus the question of the propagation of Wigner measures along these trajectories becomes relevant. We prove the propagation for general initial data.

Semi-classical analysis of a conjoint crossing of three symmetric modes

In this article we focus on a semiclassical Schrödinger equation with matrix-valued potential presenting a symmetric conjoint crossing of three eigenvalues. The potential we consider is well-known in the chemical literature as a pseudo Jahn-Teller potential. We analyze the energy transfers which occur between the three modes in terms of Wigner measures.

On the role of quadratic oscillations in nonlinear Schrodinger equations

We consider a nonlinear semi-classical Schrodinger equation for which it is known that quadratic oscillations lead to focusing at one point, described by a nonlinear scattering operator. If the initial data is an energy bounded sequence, we prove that the nonlinear term has an effect at leading order only if the initial data have quadratic oscillations; the proof relies on a linearizability condition (which can be expressed in terms of Wigner measures). When the initial data is a sum of such quadratic oscillations, we prove that the associate solution is the superposition of the nonlinear evolution of each of them, up to a small remainder term. In an appendix, we transpose those results to the case of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with harmonic potential.
