An Extended Modified Kadomtsov-Petviashvili Equation: Ermakov-Painlev\'e II Symmetry Reduction with Moving Boundary Application

Here, a novel 2+1-dimensional nonlinear evolution equation with temporal modulation is introduced which admits integrable Ermakov-Painlev\'e II symmetry reduction. Application is made to obtain exact solution to a class of Stefan-type moving boundary problems for this 2+1-dimensional nonlinear evolution equation. Involutory transformations with origin in autonomisation of certain Ermakov-type coupled systems are extended to 2+1-dimensions and applied to derive a wide 2+1-dimensional class with temporal modulation and which inherits the property of admittance of such hybrid Ermakov-Painlev\'e II symmetry reduction applicable to certain moving boundary problems.

On an integrable 2+1-dimensional extended Dym equation: Lax pair, $\bar{\partial}$-dressing scheme and modulation

In 1+1-dimensions, an extension of the canonical solitonic Dym equation has previously been derived both in a geometric torsion evolution context and in the analysis of peakon solitonic phenomena in hydrodynamics. Here, a novel 2+1-dimensional S-integrable extended Dym-type equation is introduced. As Lax pair is constructed and an associated $\bar{\partial}$-dressing scheme detailed. Integrable modulated versions of the 2+1-dimensional extended Dym equation are generated via application of a class of involutory transformations with genesis in classical Ermakov theory.

Moving boundary problems for a novel extended mKdV equation. Application of Ermakov-Painlev\'e II symmetry reduction

A novel extension of the canonical solitonic mKdV equation is introduced which admits hybrid Ermakov-Painlev\'e II symmetry reduction. Application of the latter is made to obtain exact solution of Airy-type to a class of moving boundary problems of Stefan kind for this extended mKdV equation. A reciprocal transformation is then applied to the latter to generate an associated exactly solvable class of moving boundary problems for an extension of a base Casimir member of a compacton hierachy. The extended mKdV equation is shown to be embedded in a range of nonlinear evolution equations with temporal modulation as determined via the action of a class of involutory transformations with origin in Ermakov theory. Associated temporal modulation for the hybrid mKdV and KdV equation as embedded in the classical solitonic Gardner equation is delimited.

Moving boundary problems with Ermakov symmetry reduction: nonlinear superposition principle and reciprocal transformation applications

Moving boundary problems of Stefan-type for a novel third order nonlinear evolution equation with temporal modulation are here shown to be amenable to exact Airy-type solution via a classical Ermakov equation with its admitted nonlinear superposition principle. Application of the latter together with a class of involutory transformations sets the original moving boundary problem in a wide class with temporal modulation. As an appendix, reciprocally associated exactly solvable moving boundary problems are derived.

Whitham-Broer-Kaup Systems in Multi-dimensions: Quantum and Resonant NLS Connections

An overview is presented of quantum and resonant nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation links to Whitham-Broer-Kaup type systems. A novel n+1-dimensional extension of the Whitham-Broer-Kaup hydrodynamic system is constructed with connection to an equivalent multi-dimensional resonant NLS equation. Hybrid Ermakov-Painlev\'e II and associated Painlev\'e XXXIV integrable similarity reductions are derived.

A class of moving boundary problems with an exponential source term

This work investigates a class of moving boundary problems related to a nonlinear evolution equation featuring an exponential source term. We establish a connection to Stefan-type problems, for different boundary conditions at the fixed face, through the application of a reciprocal transformation alongside the Cole-Hopf transformation. For specific cases, we derive explicit similarity solutions in parametric form. This innovative approach enhances our understanding of the underlying dynamics and offers valuable insights into the behavior of these systems.

A Class of Moving Boundary Problems with a Source Term. Application of a Reciprocal Transformation

We consider a new Stefan-type problem for the classical heat equation with a latent heat and phase-change temperature depending of the variable time. We prove the equivalence of this Stefan problem with a class of boundary value problems for the nonlinear canonical evolution equation involving a source term with two free boundaries. This equivalence is obtained by applying a reduction to a Burgers equation and a reciprocal-type transformations. Moreover, for a particular case, we obtain a unique explicit solution for the two different problems.

Reciprocal Transformations in Relativistic Gasdynamics. Lie Group Connections

Reciprocal transformations associated with admitted conservation laws were originally used to derive invariance properties in non-relativistic gasdynamics and applied to obtain reduction to tractable canonical forms. They have subsequently been shown to have diverse physical applications to nonlinear systems, notably in the analytic treatment of Stefan-type moving boundary problem and in linking inverse scattering systems and integrable hierarchies in soliton theory. Here, invariance under classes of reciprocal transformations in relativistic gasdynamics is shown to be linked to a Lie group procedure.

On Madelung systems in nonlinear optics: A reciprocal invariance

The role of the de Broglie-Bohm potential, originally established as central to Bohmian quantum mechanics, is examined for two canonical Madelung systems in nonlinear optics. In a seminal case, a Madelung system derived by Wagner et al. via the paraxial approximation and in which the de Broglie-Bohm potential is present, is shown to admit a multi-parameter class of what are here introduced as "q-gaussons". In the limit as the Tsallis parameter q --> 1, the q-gaussons are shown to lead to standard gausson solitons as admitted by logarithmic nonlinear Schroedinger equation encapsulating the Madelung system. The q-gaussons are obtained for optical media with dual power-law refractive index. In the second case, a Madelung system originally derived via an eikonal approximation in the context of laser beam propagation and in which the de Broglie Bohm term is neglected, is shown to admit invariance under a novel class of two-parameter reciprocal transformations. Model optical laws analogous to the celebrated Karman-Tsien law of classical gasdynamics are introduced.

Ermakov-Painlevé II Symmetry Reduction of a Korteweg Capillarity System

A class of nonlinear Schrödinger equations involving a triad of power law terms together with a de Broglie-Bohm potential is shown to admit symmetry reduction to a hybrid Ermakov-Painlevé II equation which is linked, in turn, to the integrable Painlevé XXXIV equation. A nonlinear Schrödinger encapsulation of a Korteweg-type capillary system is thereby used in the isolation of such a Ermakov-Painlevé II reduction valid for a multi-parameter class of free energy functions. Iterated application of a Bäcklund transformation then allows the construction of novel classes of exact solutions of the nonlinear capillarity system in terms of Yablonskii-Vorob'ev polynomials or classical Airy functions. A Painlevé XXXIV equation is derived for the density in the capillarity system and seen to correspond to the symmetry reduction of its Bernoulli integral of motion.

On Integrable Ermakov-Painlev\'{e} IV Systems

Novel hybrid Ermakov-Painlev\'{e} IV systems are introduced and an associated Ermakov invariant is used in establishing their integrability. B\"{a}cklund transformations are then employed to generate classes of exact solutions via the linked canonical Painlev\'{e} IV equation.

A 2+1-Dimensional Non-Isothermal Magnetogasdynamic System. Hamiltonian-Ermakov Integrable Reduction

A 2+1-dimensional anisentropic magnetogasdynamic system with a polytropic gas law is shown to admit an integrable elliptic vortex reduction when $γ=2$ to a nonlinear dynamical subsystem with underlying integrable Hamiltonian-Ermakov structure. Exact solutions of the magnetogasdynamic system are thereby obtained which describe a rotating elliptic plasma cylinder. The semi-axes of the elliptical cross-section, remarkably, satisfy a Ermakov-Ray-Reid system.
