Spectral Dirac graphs

We address the problem of identifying families of discrete models naturally flowing in continuum limit to relativistic quantum field theories. We call them Dirac graphs. In this work, we require the graphs to obey spectrality property, which implies that the adjacency matrix can be represented by a continuous function defined on the spectral space. We also consider deformations of such graphs away from the spectrality. We show that deformations with regular continuum limit result in background gauge field and gravity. Interestingly, gauge interactions appear due to contribution microscopic deformations while the standard gravity can only be a result of macroscopic (adiabatic) deformations.

Action-angle variables in curved space-time

We construct a relativistic and curved space version of action- angle variables for a particle trapped in a gravity and electromagnetic background with time-like isometry. As an example, we consider a particle in AdS background. Furthermore, we obtain the semiclassical quantisation of its energy levels.

Dirac lattice

We study the emergence of Dirac fermionic field in the low energy description of non-relativistic dynamical models on graphs admitting continuum limit. The Dirac fermionic field appears as the effective field describing the excitations above point-like Fermi surface. Together with the Dirac fermionic field an effective space-time metric is also emerging. We analyze the conditions for such Fermi points to appear in general, paying special attention to the cases of two and three spacial dimensions.

On the defect induced gauge and Yukawa fields in graphene

We consider lattice deformations (both continuous and topological) in the hexagonal lattice Hubbard model in the tight binding approximation to graphene, involving operators with the range up to next-to-neighbor. In the low energy limit, we find that these deformations give rise to couplings of the electronic Dirac field to an external scalar (Yukawa) and gauge fields. The fields are expressed in terms of original defects. As a by-product we establish that the next-to-nearest order is the minimal range of deformations which produces the complete gauge and scalar fields. We consider an example of Stone--Wales defect, and find the associated gauge field.

Matrix at slow roll: Nonrelativistic and Perturbative

We analyze the slow roll limit of the massive version of time-dependent Yang--Mills type matrix model. We find that this limit reproduces the one-loop non-Hermitian matrix model, describing the dilatations of the local gauge invariant composite operators in the scalar sector of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang--Mills theory. This coincidence is explained through the fact that the dialtation operator of the last can be identified with the radial time Hamiltonian. Further we explore the finite mass corrections to the slow roll action. The regular corrections in large mass expansions are coming from the modes with frequencies smaller than the mass parameter of the theory.

Landau problem for bilayer graphene: Exact results

We consider graphene bilayer in a constant magnetic field of arbitrary orientation (i.e. tilted with respect to the graphene plane). In the low energy approximation to tight binding model with Peierls substitution, we find the exact spectrum of Landau levels. This spectrum is two-fold degenerate in the limit of large in-plane field, which gives rise to a new SU(2) symmetry in this limit.

Enhanced Supersymmetry of Nonrelativistic ABJM Theory

We study the supersymmetry enhancement of nonrelativistic limits of the ABJM theory for Chern-Simons level $k=1,2$. The special attention is paid to the nonrelativistic limit (known as `PAAP' case) containing both particles and antiparticles. Using supersymmetry transformations generated by the monopole operators, we find additional 2 kinematical, 2 dynamical, and 2 conformal supercharges for this case. Combining with the original 8 kinematical supercharges, the total number of supercharges becomes maximal: 14 supercharges, like in the well-known PPPP limit. We obtain the corresponding super Schrödinger algebra which appears to be isomorphic to the one of the PPPP case. We also discuss the role of monopole operators in supersymmetry enhancement and partial breaking of supersymmetry in nonrelativistic limit of the ABJM theory.

Taking off the square root of Nambu-Goto action and obtaining Filippov-Lie algebra gauge theory action

We propose a novel prescription to take off the square root of Nambu-Goto action for a p-brane, which generalizes the Brink-Di Vecchia-Howe-Tucker or also known as Polyakov method. With an arbitrary decomposition as d+n=p+1, our resulting action is a modified d-dimensional Polyakov action which is gauged and possesses a Nambu n-bracket squared potential. We first spell out how the (p+1)-dimensional diffeomorphism is realized in the lower dimensional action. Then we discuss a possible gauge fixing of it to a direct product of $d$-dimensional diffeomorphism and n-dimensional volume preserving diffeomorphism. We show that the latter naturally leads to a novel Filippov-Lie n-algebra based gauge theory action in d-dimensions.

On Nambu-Lie 3-algebra representations

We propose a recipe to construct matrix representations of Nambu--Lie 3-algebras in terms of irreducible representations of underlying Lie algebra. The case of Euclidean four-dimensional 3-algebra is considered in details. We find that representations of this 3-algebra are not possible in terms of only Hermitian matrices in spite of its Euclidean nature.

Dilatation Operator and Space-time Geometry

We discuss the possibility of defining a dynamical model describing the RG-flow for a Quantum Field Theory. Construction of the dilatation operator is discussed in details for one-vertex one-loop level.

On dilatation operator for a renormalizable theory

Given a renormalizable theory we construct the dilatation operator, in the sense of generator of RG flow of composite operators. The generator is found as a differential operator acting on the space of normal symbols of composite operators in the theory. In the spirit of AdS/CFT correspondence, this operator is interpreted as the Hamiltonian of the dual theory. In the case of a field theory with non-abelian gauge symmetry the resulting system is a matrix model. The one-loop case is analyzed in details and it is shown that we reproduce known results from N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory.

Statistical mechanics for dilatations in N=4 super Yang--Mills theory

Matrix model describing the anomalous dimensions of composite operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang--Mills theory up to one-loop level is considered at finite temperature. We compute the thermal effective action for this model, which we define as the log of the partition function restricted to the states of given fixed length and spin. The result is obtained in the limits of high and low temperature.

Random walks in N = 4 Super Yang-Mills

Using an effective description of the thermal partition function for SU(2) sector of N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory in terms of interacting random walks we compute the partition function in planar limit as well as give the leading non-planar contribution. The result agrees with existent approaches in what concerns the zero coupling and one-loop Hagedorn temperature computation.

Matrix models for D-particle dynamics and the string/black hole transition

For a generic two-dimensional 0A string background, we map the Dirac-Born-Infeld action to a matrix model. This is achieved using a canonical transformation. The action describes D0-branes in this background, while the matrix model has a potential which encodes all the information of the background geometry. We apply this formalism to specific backgrounds: For Rindler space, we obtain a matrix model with an upside-down quadratic potential, while for AdS_2 space, the potential is linear. Furthermore we analyze the black hole geometry with RR flux. In particular, we show that at the Hagedorn temperature, the resulting matrix model coincides with the one for the linear dilaton background. We interpret this result as a realization of the string/black hole transition.

On matrix models for anomalous dimensions of super Yang-Mills theory

We consider the matrix model approach to the anomalous dimension matrix in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang--Mills theory. We construct the path integral representation for the anomalous dimension density matrix and analyze the resulting action. In particular, we consider the large $N$ limit, which results in a classical field theory. Since the same limit leads to spin chains, we propose to consider the former as an alternative description of the latter. We consider also the limit of small $N$, which corresponds to the restriction to the diagrams of maximal topological genus.
