We prove two sharp monotonicity formulae for the natural Green's function of a closed three-manifold with positive scalar curvature, analogous to the Munteanu-Wang theorem for non-negative scalar curvature. We also show that both results may be interpreted as the monotonicity of a suitably defined "enclosed mass" of the sublevel sets of Green's function in the corresponding "conformal" blow-up of the manifold.
We prove a sharp gradient estimate for the natural Green's function of a closed manifold with positive Ricci curvature. We also show that this estimate is closely related to a family of monotonicity formulae. These results extend those previously obtained by Colding and Minicozzi for open manifolds with non-negative Ricci curvature. We further obtain several geometric applications, including a new proof of Bishop's volume comparison theorem in dimension four.
Using the language of homotopy type theory (HoTT), we 1) prove a synthetic version of the classification theorem for covering spaces, and 2) explore the existence of canonical change-of-basepoint isomorphisms between homotopy groups. There is some freedom in choosing how to translate concepts from classical algebraic topology into HoTT. The final translations we ended up with are easier to work with than the ones we started with. We discuss some earlier attempts to shed light on this translation process. The proofs are mechanized using the Coq proof assistant and closely follow classical treatments like those by Hatcher.
