Gauge invariant actions for the noncommutative phase-space relativistic particle

Our main interest here is to analyze the gauge invariance issue concerning the noncommutative relativistic particle. Since the analysis of the constraint set from Dirac's point of view classifies it as a second-class system, it is not a gauge theory. Hence, the objective here is to obtain gauge invariant actions linked to the original one. However, we have two starting points, meaning that firstly we will begin directly from the original action and, using the Noether procedure, we have obtained a specific dual (gauge invariant) action. Following another path, we will act toward the constraints so that we have carried out the conversion of second to first-class constraints through the Batalin-Fradkin-Fradkina-Tyutin formalism, obtaining the second gauge invariant Lagrangian.

Torsion Effects and LLG Equation

Based on the non-relativistic regime of the Dirac equation coupled to a torsion pseudo-vector, we study the dynamics of magnetization and how it is affected by the presence of torsion. We consider that torsion interacting terms in Dirac equation appear in two ways one of these is thhrough the covariant derivative considering the spin connection and gauge magnetic field and the other is through a non-minimal spin torsion coupling. We show within this framework, that it is possible to obtain the most general Landau, Lifshitz and Gilbert (LLG) equation including the torsion effects, where we refer to torsion as a geometric field playing an important role in the spin coupling process. We show that the torsion terms can give us two important landscapes in the magnetization dynamics: one of them related with damping and the other related with the screw dislocation that give us a global effect like a helix damping sharped. These terms are responsible for changes in the magnetization precession dynamics.

Fractional Canonical Quantization: a Parallel with Noncommutativity

Adopting a particular approach to fractional calculus, this paper sets out to build up a consistent extension of the Faddeev-Jackiw (or Symplectic) algorithm to carry out the quantization procedure of coarse-grained models in the standard canonical way. In our treatment, we shall work with the Modified Riemman Liouville (MRL) approach for fractional derivatives, where the chain rule is as efficient as it is in the standard differential calculus. We still present a case where we consider the situation of charged particles moving on a plane with velocity $\dot{r}$, subject to an external and intense magnetic field in a coarse-grained scenario. We propose an interesting parallelism with the noncommutative case.

Nonextensive statistics, entropic gravity and gravitational force in a non-integer dimensional space

Based on the connection between Tsallis nonextensive statistics and fractional dimensional space, in this work we have introduced, with the aid of Verlinde's formalism, the Newton constant in a fractal space as a function of the nonextensive constant. With this result we have constructed a curve that shows the direct relation between Tsallis nonextensive parameter and the dimension of this fractal space. We have demonstrated precisely that there are ambiguities between the results due to Verlinde's approach and the ones due to fractional calculus formalism. We have shown precisely that these ambiguities appear only for spaces with dimensions different from three. Hence, we believe that this is a result in favor of our three dimensional world.

Extending the D'Alembert Solution to Space-Time Modified Riemann-Liouville Fractional Wave Equations

In the realm of complexity, it is argued that adequate modeling of TeV-physics demands an approach based on fractal operators and fractional calculus (FC). Non-local theories and memory effects are connected to complexity and the FC. The non-differentiable nature of the microscopic dynamics may be connected with time scales. Based on the Modified Riemann-Liouville definition of fractional derivatives, we have worked out explicit solutions to a fractional wave equation with suitable initial conditions to carefully understand the time evolution of classical fields with a fractional dynamics. First, by considering space-time partial fractional derivatives of the same order in time and space, a generalized fractional D'Alembertian is introduced and by means of a transformation of variables to light-cone coordinates, an explicit analytical solution is obtained. To address the situation of different orders in the time and space derivatives, we adopt different approaches, as it will become clear throughout the paper. Aspects connected to Lorentz symmetry are analyzed in both approaches.

Fractional Dirac Bracket and Quantization for Constrained Systems

So far, it is not well known how to deal with dissipative systems. There are many paths of investigation in the literature and none of them present a systematic and general procedure to tackle the problem. On the other hand, it is well known that the fractional formalism is a powerful alternative when treating dissipative problems. In this paper we propose a detailed way of attacking the issue using fractional calculus to construct an extension of the Dirac brackets in order to carry out the quantization of nonconservative theories through the standard canonical way. We believe that using the extended Dirac bracket definition it will be possible to analyze more deeply gauge theories starting with second-class systems.

Normal ordering and boundary conditions for fermionic string coordinates

We build up normal ordered products for fermionic open string coordinates consistent with boundary conditions. The results are obtained considering the presence of antisymmetric tensor fields. We find a discontinuity of the normal ordered products at string endpoints even in the absence of the background. We discuss how the energy momentum tensor also changes at the world-sheet boundary in such a way that the central charge keeps the standard value at string end points.

Normal ordering and boundary conditions in open bosonic strings

Boundary conditions play a non trivial role in string theory. For instance the rich structure of D-branes is generated by choosing appropriate combinations of Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. Furthermore, when an antisymmetric background is present at the string end-points (corresponding to mixed boundary conditions) space time becomes non-commutative there. We show here how to build up normal ordered products for bosonic string position operators that satisfy both equations of motion and open string boundary conditions at quantum level. We also calculate the equal time commutator of these normal ordered products in the presence of antisymmetric tensor background.

Fermionic anticommutators for open superstrings in the presence of antisymmetric tensor field

We build up the anticommutator algebra for the fermionic coordinates of open superstrings attached to branes with antisymmetric tensor fields. We use both Dirac quantization and the symplectic Faddeev Jackiw approach. In the symplectic case we find a way of generating the boundary conditions as zero modes of the symplectic matrix by taking a discretized form of the action and adding terms that vanish in the continuous limit. This way boundary conditions can be handled as constraints.

Symplectic Quantization of Open Strings and Noncommutativity in Branes

We show how to translate boundary conditions into constraints in the symplectic quantization method by an appropriate choice of generalized variables. This way the symplectic quantization of an open string attached to a brane in the presence of an antisymmetric background field reproduces the non commutativity of the brane coordinates.

Extended BRST invariance in topological Yang Mills theory revisited

Extended BRST invariance (BRST plus anti-BRST invariances) provides in principle a natural way of introducing the complete gauge fixing structure associated to a gauge field theory in the minimum representation of the algebra. However, as it happens in topological Yang Mills theory, not all gauge fixings can be obtained from a symmetrical extended BRST algebra, where antighosts belong to the same representation of the Lorentz group of the corresponding ghosts. We show here that, at non interacting level, a simple field redefinition makes it possible to start with an extended BRST algebra with symmetric ghost antighost spectrum and arrive at the gauge fixing action of topological Yang Mills theory.

Triplectic Quantization of W2 gravity

The role of one loop order corrections in the triplectic quantization is discussed in the case of W2 theory. This model illustrates the presence of anomalies and Wess Zumino terms in this quantization scheme where extended BRST invariance is represented in a completely anticanonical form.

Canonical Transformations and Gauge Fixing in the Triplectic Quantization

We show that the generators of canonical transformations in the triplectic manifold must satisfy constraints that have no parallel in the usual field antifield quantization. A general form for these transformations is presented. Then we consider gauge fixing by means of canonical transformations in this Sp(2) covariant scheme, finding a relation between generators and gauge fixing functions. The existence of a wide class of solutions to this relation nicely reflects the large freedom of the gauge fixing process in the triplectic quantization. Some solutions for the generators are discussed. Our results are then illustrated by the example of Yang Mills theory.
