Canonical differential equations for Feynman integrals from $\mathcal{A}$-hypergeometric systems in the Schwinger representation

We follow a $D$-module approach to the construction of canonical differential equations for Feynman integrals directly from their Gel'fand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky (GKZ) hypergeometric systems. Starting from the Schwinger representation, we identify the associated generalized Euler integral and its GKZ system, as an alternative to the Lee-Pomeransky representation. The generalized Euler formulation allows reductions associated with facets of the Newton polytope to be identified directly, reducing the number of variables in the resulting differential systems. We construct the associated Pfaffian systems using Frobenius bases, which also provide direct access to the singular loci. After a suitable rationalizing change of variables, the systems are brought into canonical $ε$-form. A key feature of the construction is that the dimension of the canonical basis is determined by the holonomic rank of the GKZ system and, for the examples considered, it is smaller than or equal to the number of master integrals obtained from integration-by-parts, thus providing a reduced description of the differential system.

On the amplitude expansion of gluon correlators in $\textrm{AdS}_4$

We show that tree-level gluon correlators in $\textrm{AdS}_4$ admit a natural expansion in terms of flat-space scattering amplitudes at all multiplicities. In particular, every $n$-point correlator can be decomposed into a sum over energy poles whose residues are flat-space amplitudes. The $n$-point amplitude encodes the flat-space limit while curvature corrections are captured by lower-point amplitudes with merged external data. The merging of external polarizations is recursively defined via an AdS analogue of the Berends-Giele currents, giving rise to all-multiplicity formulae which we verify against Feynman diagram computations up to five points. Crucially, our approach works at the level of full correlators rather than individual diagrams, providing an elegant and transparent alternative to conventional approaches for computing correlators in anti-de Sitter space.

One-loop double copy from gravity coupled to a massive vector field

In this work, we compute the one-loop four-graviton amplitudes with a massive abelian vector field (Proca) circulating in the loop. Instead of the conventional Einstein-Hilbert formulation, we employ the Landau-Lifshitz metric density approach, coupling gravity to the Proca field. Within this framework, we found that the resulting contact-terms-free $n$-gon numerators exhibit a manifest double-copy structure, provided the external gravitational trees satisfy this property. This structure enables the direct construction of the corresponding amplitudes with a scalar in the loop. We further show that these numerators can be consistently used to evaluate pure gravity amplitudes in the sectors where contact terms vanish, offering a simplified setting to explore double-copy relations at one loop level.

One-loop $N$-point correlators in pure gravity

In this work we propose a simple algebraic recursion for the complete one-loop integrands of $N$-graviton correlators. This formula automatically yields the correct symmetry factors of individual diagrams, taking into account both the graviton and the ghost loop, and seamlessly controlling the related combinatorics.

Tree- and one-loop-level double copy for the (anti)self-dual sectors of Yang-Mills and gravity

By employing the perturbiner method we study the tree- and one-loop-level amplitudes in (anti)self-dual Yang-Mills, focusing on color-kinematics duality and double copy features; they arise naturally even in the fully off-shell case. In particular, we calculate the respective the Kawai-Lewellen-Tye relations for tree-level Berends-Giele currents and color-kinematics master numerators at one loop, both cases for any number of external particles.

The QED four -- photon amplitudes off-shell: part 1

The QED four-photon amplitude has been well-studied by many authors, and on-shell is treated in many textbooks. However, a calculation with all four photons off-shell is presently still lacking, despite of the fact that this amplitude appears off-shell as a subprocess in many different contexts, in vacuum as well as with some photons connecting to external fields. The present paper is the first in a series of four where we use the worldline formalism to obtain this amplitude explicitly in terms of hypergeometric functions, and derivatives thereof, for both scalar and spinor QED. The formalism allows us to unify the scalar and spinor loop calculations, to avoid the usual breaking up of the amplitude into three inequivalent Feynman diagrams, and to achieve manifest transversality as well as UV finiteness at the integrand level by an optimized version of the integration-by-parts procedure originally introduced by Bern and Kosower for gluon amplitudes. The full permutation symmetry is maintained throughout, and the amplitudes get projected naturally into the basis of five tensors introduced by Costantini et al. in 1971. Since in many applications of the "four-photon box" some of the photons can be taken in the low-energy limit, and the formalism makes it easy to integrate out any such leg, apart from the case of general kinematics (part 4) we also treat the special cases of one (part 3) or two (part 2) photons taken at low energy. In this first part of the series, we summarize the application of the worldline formalism to the N-photon amplitudes and its relation to Feynman diagrams, derive the optimized tensor-decomposed integrands of the four-photon amplitudes in scalar and spinor QED, and outline the computational strategy to be followed in parts 2 to 4.

Homotopy double copy and the Kawai-Lewellen-Tye relations for the non-abelian and tensor Navier-Stokes equations

Recently, a non-abelian generalisation of the Navier-Stokes equation that exhibits a manifest duality between colour and kinematics has been proposed by Cheung and Mangan. In this paper, we offer a new perspective on the double copy formulation of this equation, based on the homotopy algebraic picture suggested by Borsten, Kim, Jurčo, Macrelli, Saemann, and Wolf. In the process, we describe precisely how the double copy can be realised at the level of perturbiner expansions. Specifically, we will show that the colour-dressed Berends-Giele currents for the non-abelian version of the Navier-Stokes equation can be used to construct the Berends-Giele currents for the double copied equation by replacing the colour factors with a second copy of kinematic numerators. We will also show a Kawai-Lewellen-Tye relation stating that the full tree-level scattering amplitudes in the latter can be written as a product of tree-level colour ordered partial amplitudes in the former.

One-loop off-shell amplitudes from classical equations of motion

In this letter we present a recursive method for computing one-loop off-shell amplitudes in colored quantum field theories. First, we generalize the perturbiner method by recasting the multiparticle currents as generators of off-shell tree level amplitudes. After, by taking advantage of the underlying color structure, we define a consistent sewing procedure to iteratively compute the one-loop integrands. When gauge symmetries are involved, the whole procedure is extended to multiparticle solutions involving ghosts, which can then be accounted for in the full loop computation. Since the required input here is equations of motion and gauge symmetry, our framework naturally extends to one-loop computations in certain non-Lagrangian field theories.

Summing Feynman diagrams in the worldline formalism

The worldline formalism shares with string theory the property that it allows one to write down master integrals that effectively combine the contributions of many Feynman diagrams. While at the one-loop level these diagrams differ only by the position of the external legs along a fixed line or loop, at multiloop they generally involve different topologies. Here we summarize various efforts that have been made over the years to exploit this property in a computationally meaningful way. As a first example, we show how to generalize the Landau-Khalatnikov-Fradkin formula for the non-perturbative gauge transformation of the fermion propagator in QED to the general $2n$ - point case by pure manipulations at the path-integral level. At the parameter-integral level, we show how to integrate out individual photons in the low-energy expansion, and then sketch a recently introduced general framework for the analytical evaluation of such worldline integrals involving a reduction to quantum mechanics on the circle and the relation between inverse derivatives and Bernoulli polynomials.

Manifest colour-kinematics duality and double-copy in the string-based formalism

The relation for the gravity polarisation tensor as the tensor product of two gluon polarisation vectors has been well-known for a long time, but a version of this relation for multi-particle fields is presently still not known. Here we show that in order for this to happen we first have to ensure that the multi-particle polarisations satisfy colour-kinematics duality. In previous work it has been show that this arises naturally from the Bern-Kosower formalism for one-loop gluon amplitudes, and here we show that the tensor product for multi-particle fields arise naturally in the Bern-Dunbar-Shimada formalism for one-loop gravity amplitudes. This allows us to formulate a new prescription for double-copy gravity Berends-Giele currents, and to obtain both the colour-dressed Yang-Mills Berends-Giele currents in the Bern-Carrasco-Johansson gauge and the gravitational Berends-Giele currents explicitly. An attractive feature of our formalism is that it never becomes necessary to determine gauge transformation terms. Our double-copy prescription can also be applied to other cases, and to make this point we derive the double-copy perturbiners for $α'$-deformed gravity and the bi-adjoint scalar model.

Color-kinematics duality from the Bern-Kosower formalism

Berends-Giele currents are fundamental building blocks for on-shell amplitudes in non-abelian gauge theory. We present a novel procedure to construct them using the Bern-Kosower formalism for one-loop gluon amplitudes. Applying the pinch procedure of that formalism to a suitable special case the currents are naturally obtained in terms of multi-particle fields and obeying colour-kinematics duality. As a feedback to the Bern-Kosower formalism we outline how the multi-particle polarisations and field-strength tensors can be used to significantly streamline the pinch procedure.

The $L_{\infty}$ structure of gauge theories with matter

In this work we present an algebraic approach to the dynamics and perturbation theory at tree-level for gauge theories coupled to matter. The field theories we will consider are: Chern-Simons-Matter, Quantum Chromodynamics, and scalar Quantum Chromodynamics. Starting with the construction of the master action in the classical Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism, we will extract the $L_{\infty}$-algebra that allow us to recursively calculate the perturbiner expansion from its minimal model. The Maurer-Cartan action obtained in this procedure will then motivate a generating function for all the tree-level scattering amplitudes. There are two interesting outcomes of this construction: a generator for fully-flavoured amplitudes via a localisation on Dyck words; and closed expressions for fermion and scalar lines attached to $n$-gluons with arbitrary polarisations.

One-Loop Yang-Mills Integrands from Scattering Equations

We investigate in the context of the scattering equations, how one-loop linear propagator integrands in gauge theories can be linked to integrands with quadratic propagators using a double forward limit. We illustrate our procedure through examples and demonstrate how the different parts of the derived quadratic integrand are consistent with cut-integrands derived from four-dimensional generalized unitarity. We also comment on applications and discuss possible further generalizations.

$L_\infty$-algebras and the perturbiner expansion

Certain classical field theories admit a formal multi-particle solution, known as the perturbiner expansion, that serves as a generating function for all the tree-level scattering amplitudes and the Berends-Giele recursion relations they satisfy. In this paper it is argued that the minimal model for the $L_{\infty}$-algebra that governs a classical field theory contains enough information to determine the perturbiner expansion associated to such theory. This gives a prescription for computing the tree-level scattering amplitudes by inserting the perturbiner solution into the homotopy Maurer-Cartan action for the $L_{\infty}$-algebra. We confirm the method in the non-trivial examples of bi-adjoint scalar and Yang-Mills theories.

Non-planar one-loop Parke-Taylor factors in the CHY approach for quadratic propagators

In this work we have studied the Kleiss-Kuijf relations for the recently introduced Parke-Taylor factors at one-loop in the CHY approach, that reproduce quadratic Feynman propagators. By doing this, we were able to identify the non-planar one-loop Parke-Taylor factors. In order to check that, in fact, these new factors can describe non-planar amplitudes, we applied them to the bi-adjoint $Φ^3$ theory. As a byproduct, we found a new type of graphs that we called the non-planar CHY-graphs. These graphs encode all the information for the subleading order at one-loop, and there is not an equivalent of these in the Feynman formalism.

One-loop Parke-Taylor factors for quadratic propagators from massless scattering equations

In this paper we reconsider the Cachazo-He-Yuan construction (CHY) of the so called scattering amplitudes at one-loop, in order to obtain quadratic propagators. In theories with colour ordering the key ingredient is the redefinition of the Parke-Taylor factors. After classifying all the possible one-loop CHY-integrands we conjecture a new one-loop amplitude for the massless Bi-adjoint $Φ^3$ theory. The prescription directly reproduces the quadratic propagators from of the traditional Feynman approach.

Nonrelativistic limit of the abelianized ABJM model and the ADS/CMT correspondence

We consider the nonrelativistic limit of the abelian reduction of the massive ABJM model proposed in \cite{Mohammed:2012gi}, obtaining a supersymmetric version of the Jackiw-Pi model. The system exhibits an ${\cal N}=2$ Super-Schrödinger symmetry with the Jackiw-Pi vortices emerging as BPS solutions. We find that this $(2+1)$-dimensional abelian field theory is dual to a certain (3+1)-dimensional gravity theory that differs somewhat from previously considered abelian condensed matter stand-ins for the ABJM model. We close by commenting on progress in the top-down realization of the AdS/CMT correspondence in a critical string theory.

Abelian reductions of deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM

Following the work in \cite{Mohammed:2012gi}, where the massive ABJM model in 2+1 dimensions was shown to have an abelian reduction to the relativistic Landau-Ginzburg, and motivated by the implications for condensed matter through AdS/CFT, we show that a FI deformation of ${\cal N}=4$ SYM in 3+1 dimensions with a mass term can also be reduced to a relativistic Landau-Ginzburg model, with the possibility of coupling it to a real scalar, whereas the simply mass deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM reduces only to a massive $ϕ^4$ model (scalar QED) coupled to a real scalar. We study the classical solutions of the model, in particular vortex solutions.
