City Street Layout Generation via Conditional Adversarial Learning

The demand for high-quality city street layouts has persisted for an extended period presenting notable challenges. Conventional methods are yet to effectively address the integration of both natural and socioeconomic factors in this complex task. In this study, we propose a novel conditional adversarial learning-based method for city street layout generation from natural and socioeconomic conditions. Specifically, we design an image synthesis module that leverages an autoencoder to fuse a set of natural and socioeconomic data for a given region of interest into a feature map, and then employs a conditional generative adversarial network trained on real-world data to synthesize street layout images from the feature map. Afterward, a graph extraction module converts each synthesized image to the corresponding high-quality street layout graph. Experiments and evaluations suggest that the proposed method produces diverse city street layouts that closely resemble their real-world counterparts both visually and structurally. This capability can facilitate the creation of high-quality virtual city scenes.

R-mode instability in compact stars

R-mode oscillations have been identified as viable and promising targets for continuous gravitational wave searches, meanwhile, it would allow us to probe the interior of compact stars directly. As well as emitting gravitational wave, r-modes would strongly affect the thermal and spin evolution of compact stars. In this paper, we reviewed the theory behind the gravitational wave driven r-mode instability in a rapidly rotating compact star. In particular, we will focus on r-mode instability window, r-mode evolution and detectability of r-mode.

Dependence of pulsar death line on the equation of state

Pulsar death line can be defined in $P-\dot{P}$ diagram. Traditionally, radio-loud pulsars are supposed to locate above the death line where is the radio-loud region. With the development of observational equipment, the observational properties of the neutron star are remarkably diverse. In $P-\dot{P}$ diagram, some of the special sources are radio-quiet but lie above the death line. From the definition of the pulsar death line, different equation of states for neutron star or strange star results in different death lines. We discuss the influence of the equation of state on the pulsar death line and the possible link between different neutron star groups. The results show that central compact objects would be the small mass of self-bound strange stars, and rotating radio transients might be old pulsars on the verge of death. We suggest that PSR J2144-3933 is likely to be a large mass pulsar, which would be larger than $2.0\rm{M_{\odot}}$. Multiple observational facts would help us to reveal the nature of pulsars.
