Subsequential scaling limits of simple random walk on the two-dimensional uniform spanning tree

The first main result of this paper is that the law of the (rescaled) two-dimensional uniform spanning tree is tight in a space whose elements are measured, rooted real trees continuously embedded into Euclidean space. Various properties of the intrinsic metrics, measures and embeddings of the subsequential limits in this space are obtained, with it being proved in particular that the Hausdorff dimension of any limit in its intrinsic metric is almost surely equal to $8/5$. In addition, the tightness result is applied to deduce that the annealed law of the simple random walk on the two-dimensional uniform spanning tree is tight under a suitable rescaling. For the limiting processes, which are diffusions on random real trees embedded into Euclidean space, detailed transition density estimates are derived.

Scaling limits of stochastic processes associated with resistance forms

We establish that if a sequence of spaces equipped with resistance metrics and measures converge with respect to the Gromov-Hausdorff-vague topology, and a certain non-explosion condition is satisfied, then the associated stochastic processes also converge. This result generalises previous work on trees, fractals, and various models of random graphs. We further conjecture that it will be applicable to the random walk on the incipient infinite cluster of critical bond percolation on the high-dimensional integer lattice.

Time-changes of stochastic processes associated with resistance forms

Given a sequence of resistance forms that converges with respect to the Gromov-Hausdorff-vague topology and satisfies a uniform volume doubling condition, we show the convergence of corresponding Brownian motions and local times. As a corollary of this, we obtain the convergence of time-changed processes. Examples of our main results include scaling limits of Liouville Brownian motion, the Bouchaud trap model and the random conductance model on trees and self-similar fractals. For the latter two models, we show that under some assumptions the limiting process is a FIN diffusion on the relevant space.

Self-similarity and spectral asymptotics for the continuum random tree

We use the random self-similarity of the continuum random tree to show that it is homeomorphic to a post-critically finite self-similar fractal equipped with a random self-similar metric. As an application we determine the mean and almost-sure leading order behaviour of the high frequency asymptotics of the eigenvalue counting function associated with the natural Dirichlet form on the continuum random tree. We also obtain short time asymptotics for the trace of the heat semigroup and the annealed on-diagonal heat kernel associated with this Dirichlet form.

Local limit theorems for sequences of simple random walks on graphs

In this article, local limit theorems for sequences of simple random walks on graphs are established. The results formulated are motivated by a variety of random graph models, and explanations are provided as to how they apply to supercritical percolation clusters, graph trees converging to the continuum random tree and the homogenisation problem for nested fractals. A subsequential local limit theorem for the simple random walks on generalised Sierpinski carpet graphs is also presented.
