Search for spontaneous muon emission from lead nuclei

We describe a possible search for muonic radioactivity from lead nuclei using the base elements ("bricks" composed by lead and nuclear emulsion sheets) of the long-baseline OPERA neutrino experiment. We present the results of a Monte Carlo simulation concerning the expected event topologies and estimates of the background events. Using few bricks, we could reach a good sensitivity level.

A New Optimal Bound on Logarithmic Slope of Elastic Hadron-Hadron Scattering

In this paper we prove a new optimal bound on the logarithmic slope of the elastic slope when: elastic cross section and differential cross sections in forward and backward directions are known from experimental data. The results on the experimental tests of this new optimal bound are presented in Sect. 3 for the principal meson-nucleon elastic scatterings: pion-nucleon, kaon-nucleon at all available energies. Then we have shown that the saturation of this optimal bound is observed with high accuracy practically at all available energies in meson-nucleon scattering.

Super-Cerenkov Radiation: A new phenomenon useful for RICH Detectors

In this contribution the Super-Cerenkov radiation (SCR) as a new phenomenon which includes in a more general and exact form the usual Cerenkov effect is presented. The Super-Cerenkov effect at Cerenkov threshold in the radiators of RICH detectors is investigated. The results on the experimental test of the super- Cerenkov coherence conditions are presented. The SCR-predictions are verified experimentally with high accuracy chi/n_{dof}=1.47 by the data on the Cerenkov ring radii of electron, muon, pion and kaon, all measured with RICH detector. Moreover, it is shown that the Super-Cerenkov phenomenon can explain not only subthreshold CR but also the observed secondary rings (or anomalous Cerenkov radiation) observed at CERN SPS accelerator. The influence of medium on the particle propagation properties is also estimated and the refractive properties of electrons, muons, pions, in the radiator C4F10Ar are obtained. So, we proved that the refractive indices of the charged elementary particles in medium are also very important for the RICH detectors, especially at low and intermediate energies.

Toward a New Phenomenon: Super-Cerenkov Radiation

In this letter a new coherent gamma emission mechanism, called Super-Cerenkov radiation, is introduced. The SCR is expected to take place when the charged particle is moving in a medium with a phase velocity satisfying the super-coherent condition. The results on an experimental test of SCR in RICH detector are presented.

Nonextensive quantum statistics and saturation of the PMD-SQS optimality limit in hadron-hadron scattering

In this paper, new results on the analysis in hadron-hadron scattering are obtained by using the nonextensive quantum entropy and principle of minimum distance in the space of quantum states (PMD-SQS). Using Tsallis-like scattering entropies, the optimality as well as the nonextensive statistical behavior of the quantum scattering systems are investigated in an unified manner. A connection between optimal states obtained from the principle of minimum distance in the space of quantum states and the most stringent (MaxEnt) entropic bounds on Tsallis-like entropies for quantum scattering, is established. The generalized entropic uncertainty relations as well as the correlation between the nonextensivities p and q of the scattering statistics are proved. New results on the experimental tests of the saturation of the optimality limit}, as well as on the test of optimal entropic bands obtained by using the experimental pion-nucleon, kaon-nucleon, antikaon-nucleon phase shifts, are presented. The nonextensivity indices p and q are determined from the experimental entropies by a fit with the optimal entropies obtained from the principle of minimum distance in the space of states. Strong experimental evidences for the p-nonextensivity index in the range p=0.6 with q=p/(2p-1)=3, is obtained from the experimental data.

Is bimodal fission an indirect experimental evidence for pionic radioactivity?

In this paper new predictions for the spontaneous pion emission accompanied by fission are presented for all nuclei with Z between 100 and 108. The bimodal fission as an indirect experimental evidence for the pionic radioactivity is demonstrated. The experimental tests of this important connection are suggested.

Spontaneus pion emission during fission - a new nuclear radioactivity

In this paper a short review of the theoretical problems of the pionic radioactivity is presented. The essential experimental results obtained in the 18 years of existence of the nuclear pionic radioactivity are reviewed. Moreover, using the recent results on the spontaneous fission half lives of the heavy nuclei with Z >= 100 new predictions on the pionic yields in the region of superheavy elements are established.

Dual coherent particle emission as generalized two-component Cherenkov-like effect

In this Letter we introduce a new kind of coherent particle production mechanism called dual coherent particle emission (DCPE) as generalized two-component Cherenkov-like effect, which takes place when the phase velocity of emitted particle v_{Mph} and the particle source phase velocity v_{B_1ph} satisfy a specific DCPE condition: v_{Mph} <= v_{B_1ph}^{-1}. The general signatures of the DCPE in dielectric, nuclear and hadronic media are established and some experimental evidences are presented.

Saturation of optimality limits in hadron-hadron scatterings

In this paper the optimal unitarity lower bound on logarithmic slope of the diffraction peak is investigated. It is shown that the unitarity lower bound is just the optimal logarithmic slopes predicted by the principle of least distance in space of states. A systematic tendency towards the saturation of the most forward-peaked limit is observed from all the available experimental data of all principal hadron-hadron (e.g., antiproton-proton, proton-proton, kaon-proton, pion-proton) scatterings practically at all laboratory momenta.

Dual coherent particle emission as generalised Cherenkov-like effect in high energy particle collisions

In this paper we introduce a new kind of nuclear/hadronic coherent particle production mechanism in high-energy collisions called \emph{dual coherent particle emission (DCPE)} which takes place when the phase velocities of the emitted particle v_{Mph} and that of particle source v_{B_1ph} satisfy the dual coherence condition: v_{Mph} <= v_{B_1ph}^-1. The general signatures of the DCPE in the nuclear and hadronic media are established and some experimental evidences are given.

Precocious Scaling in Antiproton - Proton Scattering at Low Energies

The scaling of the diffraction peak in antiproton--proton scattering has been investigated from near threshold up to $3\,\,\, GeV/c$ laboratory momenta. It was shown that the scaling of the differential cross sections are evidentiated with a surprising accuracy not only at high energies, but also at very low ones(e.q. $p_{LAB}=0.1--0.5\,\,\, GeV/c$),beyond the resonance and exotic resonance regions. This precociuos scaling strongly suggests that the s -- channel helicity conservation (SCHC) can be a peculiar property that should be tested in antiproton -proton interaction not only at high energies but also at low energy even below $ p_{LAB} = 1\,\,\, GeV/c $.
