Masses of tetraquarks with two heavy quarks in the relativistic quark model

Masses of tetraquarks with two heavy quarks and open charm and bottom are calculated in the framework of the diquark-antidiquark picture in the relativistic quark model. All model parameters were regarded as fixed by previous considerations of various properties of mesons and baryons. The light quarks and diquarks are treated completely relativistically. The c quark is assumed to be heavy enough to make the diquark configurations dominating. The diquarks are considered not to be point-like but to have an internal structure which is taken into account by the calculated diquark form factor entering the diquark-gluon interaction. It is found that all the (cc)(\bar q\bar q') tetraquarks have masses above the thresholds for decays into open charm mesons. Only the I(J^P)=0(1^+) state of (bb)(\bar u\bar d) lies below the BB* threshold and is predicted to be narrow.

Mass spectrum of diquarks and mesons in the color--flavor locked phase of dense quark matter

The spectrum of meson and diquark excitations of dense quark matter is considered in the framework of the Nambu -- Jona-Lasinio model with three types of massless quarks in the presense of a quark number chemical potential $μ$. We investigate the effective action of meson- and diquark fields both at sufficiently large values of $μ>μ_c\approx 330$ MeV, where the color--flavor locked (CFL) phase is realized, and in the chirally broken phase of quark matter ($μ<μ_c$). In the last case all nine pseudoscalar mesons are Nambu -- Goldstone (NG) bosons, whereas the mass of the scalar meson nonet is twice the dynamical quark mass. In the chirally broken phase the pseudoscalar diquarks are not allowed to exist as stable particles, but the scalar diquarks might be stable only at a rather strong interaction in the diquark channel. In the case of the CFL phase, all NG bosons of the model are realized as scalar and pseudoscalar diquarks. Moreover, it turns out that massive diquark excitations are unstable for this phase. In particular, for the scalar and pseudoscalar octets of diquark resonances a mass value around 230 MeV was found numerically. In contrast, mesons are stable particles in the CFL phase. Their masses lie in the interval 400$÷$500 MeV for not too large values of $μ>μ_c$.

Color superconductivity in the static Einstein Universe

We study the behavior of quark and diquark condensates in dense quark matter under the influence of a gravitational field adopting as a simple model the static $D-$dimensional Einstein Universe. Calculations are performed in the framework of the extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model at finite temperature and quark density on the basis of the thermodynamic potential and the gap equations. Quark and diquark condensates as functions of the chemical potential and temperature at different values of the curvature have been studied. Phase portraits of the system have been constructed.

Diquarks in the color--flavor locked phase of dense quark matter

Diquark excitations of dense quark matter are considered in the framework of the Nambu -- Jona-Lasinio model with three types of massless quarks in the presense of a quark number chemical potential $μ$. We investigate the effective action of meson- and diquark fields at sufficiently high values of $μ$, where the color--flavor locked (CFL) phase is realized, and prove the existence of NG-bosons in the sector of pseudoscalar diquarks. In the sector of scalar diquarks an additional NG-boson is found, corresponding to the spontaneous breaking of the U(1)$_B$ baryon symmetry in the CFL phase. Finally, the existence of massive scalar and pseudoscalar diquark excitations is demonstrated.

New analysis of semileptonic B decays in the relativistic quark model

We present the new analysis of the semileptonic B decays in the framework of the relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach. Decays both to heavy D^{(*)} and light π(ρ) mesons are considered. All relativistic effects are systematically taken into account including contributions of the negative-energy states and the wave function transformation from the rest to moving reference frame. For heavy-to-heavy transitions the heavy quark expansion is applied. Leading and subleading Isgur-Wise functions are determined as the overlap integrals of initial and final meson wave functions. For heavy-to-light transitions the explicit relativistic expressions are used to determine the dependence of the form factors on the momentum transfer squared. Such treatment significantly reduces theoretical uncertainties and increases reliability of obtained predictions. All results for form factors, partial and total decay rates agree well with recent experimental data and unquenched lattice calculations. From this comparison we find the following values of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements: |V_{cb}|=(3.85\pm0.15\pm 0.20)*10^{-2} and |V_{ub}|=(3.82\pm0.20\pm0.20)*10^{-3}, where the first error is experimental and the second one is theoretical.

Mesons and diquarks in neutral color superconducting quark matter with $β$-equilibrium

The spectrum of meson and diquark excitations in cold color-superconducting (2SC) quark matter is investigated under local color and electric neutrality constraints with $β$-equilibrium. A 2-flavored Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type model including a baryon $μ_B$, color $μ_8$, and electric $μ_Q$ chemical potentials is used. Two relations between coupling constants $H$ and $G$ in the diquark- and quark-antiquark channels, correspondingly, are treated, $H=3G/4$ and $H=G$. At $H=3G/4$ the gapless- and at $H=G$ the gapped neutral color superconductivity is realized. It is shown that color and electrical neutrality together with $β$-equilibrium lead to a strong mass splitting within the pion isotriplet in the 2SC phase (both gapped and gapless), in contrast with non--neutral matter. It is also shown that the properties of the physical $SU(2)_c$-singlet diquark excitation in the 2SC ground state varies for different parameterization schemes. Thus, for $H=3G/4$ one finds a heavy resonance with mass $\sim$ 1100 MeV in the non--neutral (gapped) case, whereas, if neutrality is imposed, a stable diquark with mass $\simμ_Q\sim$ 200 MeV appears in the gapless 2SC phase. For $H=G$, there is again a resonance (with the mass $\sim$ 300 MeV) in the neutral gapped 2SC phase. Hence, the existence of the stable massive SU(2)$_c$-singlet diquark excitation is a new peculiarity of the gapless 2SC.

Relativistic description of semileptonic decays of heavy baryons

Semileptonic decays of heavy baryons consisting of one heavy (Q=b,c) and two light (q=u,d,s) quarks are considered in the heavy-quark--light-diquark approximation. The relativistic quasipotential equation is used for obtaining masses and wave functions of both diquarks and baryons within the constituent quark model. The weak transition matrix elements are expressed through the overlap integrals of the baryon wave functions. The Isgur-Wise functions are determined in the whole accessible kinematic range. The exclusive semileptonic decay rates are calculated with applying the heavy quark 1/m_Q expansion. The evaluated Lambda_b -> Lambda_c l nu decay rate agrees with its experimental value.

Masses and electroweak properties of light mesons in the relativistic quark model

The masses, pseudoscalar and vector weak decay constants and electromagnetic form factors of light S-wave mesons are studied in the framework of the relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach. We use the same model assumptions and parameters as in our previous investigations of heavy meson and baryon properties. The masses and wave functions of the ground state and radially excited pi, rho, K, K* and phi mesons, obtained by solving numerically the relativistic Schroedinger-like equation with the complete relativistic q bar q potential including both spin-independent and spin-dependent terms, are presented. Novel relativistic expressions for the weak decay constants of the pseudoscalar and vector mesons are derived. It is shown that the intermediate negative-energy quark states give significant contributions which essentially decrease the decay constants bringing them in agreement with experimental data. The electromagnetic form factors of the pion, charged and neutral kaon are calculated in a broad range of the space-like momentum transfer. The corresponding charge radii are determined. All results agree well with available experimental data.

Quark and pion condensation in a chromomagnetic background field

The general features of quark and pion condensation in dense quark matter with flavor asymmetry have been considered at finite temperature in the presence of a chromomagnetic background field modelling the gluon condensate. In particular, pion condensation in the case of a constant abelian chromomagnetic field and zero temperature has been studied both analytically and numerically. Under the influence of the chromomagnetic background field the effective potential of the system is found to have a global minimum for a finite pion condensate even for small values of the effective quark coupling constant. In the strong field limit, an effective dimensional reduction has been found to take place.

Relativistic effects in the production of pseudoscalar and vector doubly heavy mesons from e^+e^- annihilation

On the basis of the perturbative QCD and the relativistic quark model we investigate the relativistic and bound state effects in the production processes of a pair of $S$-wave doubly heavy mesons with opposite charge conjugation consisting of $b$ and $c$ quarks. All possible relativistic corrections in the production amplitude including the terms connected with the transformation law of the bound state wave function to the reference frame of the moving pseudoscalar ${\cal P}-$ and vector ${\cal V}-$ mesons are taken into account. We obtain a growth of the cross section for the reaction $e^++e^-\to J/Ψ+ η_c$ due to considered effects by a factor $2÷2.5$ in the range of the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=6÷12$ GeV.

Pion condensation in electrically neutral cold matter with finite baryon density

The possibility of the pion condensation phenomenon in cold and electrically neutral dense baryonic matter is investigated in $β$-equilibrium. For simplicity, the consideration is performed in the framework of a NJL model with two quark flavors at zero current quark mass and for rather small values of the baryon chemical potential, where the diquark condensation might be ignored. Two sets of model parameters are used. For the first one, the pion condensed phase with finite baryon density is realized. In this phase both electrons and the pion condensate take part in the neutralization of the quark electric charge. For the second set of model parameters, the pion condensation is impossible if the neutrality condition is imposed. The behaviour of meson masses vs quark chemical potential has been studied in electrically neutral matter.

Relativistic treatment of the decay constants of light and heavy mesons

Novel relativistic expressions are used to calculate the weak decay constants of pseudoscalar and vector mesons within the constituent quark model. Meson wave functions satisfy the quasipotential equation with the complete relativistic potential. New contributions, coming from the negative-energy quark states, are substantial for the light mesons, significantly decrease the values of their decay constants and, thus, bring them into agreement with experiment. For heavy-light mesons these contribution are much less pronounced, but permit to reduce uncertainties of the predicted decay constants. Their values agree with the results of lattice calculations and experimental data.

Pion condensation in quark matter with finite baryon density

The phase structure of the Nambu -- Jona-Lasinio model at zero temperature and in the presence of baryon- and isospin chemical potentials is investigated. It is shown that in the chiral limit and for a wide range of model parameters there exist two different phases with pion condensation. In the first, ordinary phase, quarks are gapped particles. In the second, gapless pion condensation phase, there is no energy cost for creating only $u$- or both $u$ and $d$ quarks, and the density of baryons is nonzero.

Masses of heavy tetraquarks in the relativistic quark model

The masses of heavy tetraquarks with hidden charm and bottom are calculated in the framework of the relativistic quark model. The tetraquark is considered as the bound state of a heavy-light diquark and antidiquark. The light quark in a heavy-light diquark is treated completely relativistically. The internal structure of the diquark is taken into account by calculating the diquark-gluon form factor in terms of the diquark wave functions. New experimental data on charmonium-like states above open charm threshold are discussed. The obtained results indicate that the X(3872) can be the tetraquark state with hidden charm. The masses of ground state tetraquarks with hidden bottom are found to be below the open bottom threshold.

Mesons and diquarks in the color neutral 2SC phase of dense cold quark matter

The spectrum of meson and diquark excitations of dense color neutral cold quark matter is investigated in the framework of a 2-flavored Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type model, including a quark $μ$- and color $μ_8$ chemical potential. It was found out that in the color superconducting (2SC) phase, i.e. at $μ>μ_c=342$ MeV, $μ_8$ aquires rather small values $\sim$ 10 MeV in order to ensure the color neutrality. In this phase the $π$- and $σ$ meson masses are evaluated around $\sim$ 330 MeV. The spectrum of scalar diquarks in the color neutral 2SC phase consists of a heavy ($\rm SU_c(2)$-singlet) resonance with mass $\sim$ 1100 MeV, four light diquarks with mass $3|μ_8|$, and one Nambu --Goldstone boson which is in accordance with the Goldstone theorem. Moreover, in the 2SC phase there are five light stable particles as well as a heavy resonance in the spectrum of pseudo-scalar diquarks. In the color symmetric phase, i.e. for $μ<μ_c$, a mass splitting of scalar diquarks and antidiquarks is shown to arise if $μ\ne 0$, contrary to the case of $μ= 0$, where the masses of scalar antidiquarks and diquarks are degenerate at the value $\sim$~700 MeV. If the coupling strength in the pseudo-scalar diquark channel is the same as in the scalar diquark one (as for QCD-inspired NJL models), then in the color symmetric phase pseudo-scalar diquarks are not allowed to exist as stable particles.

Masses of heavy baryons in the relativistic quark model

The masses of the ground state heavy baryons consisting of two light (u,d,s) and one heavy (c,b) quarks are calculated in the heavy-quark--light-diquark approximation within the constituent quark model. The light quarks, forming the diquark, and the light diquark in the baryon are treated completely relativistically. The expansion in v/c up to the second order is used only for the heavy (b and c) quarks. The diquark-gluon interaction is taken modified by the form factor describing the light diquark structure in terms of the diquark wave functions. An overall reasonable agreement of the obtained predictions with available experimental data and previous theoretical results is found.
