Vertical Array in Space for Horizontal Air-Showers

We consider the guaranteed physics of horizontal (hadron) air-showers, HAS, developing at high (tens km) altitudes. Their morphology and information traces are different from vertical ones. Hundreds of km long HAS are often split by geomagnetic fields in a long (fan-like) showering with a twin spiral tail. The horizontal fan-like airshowers are really tangent and horizontal only at North and South poles. At different latitude these showering plane are turned and inclined by geomagnetic fields. In particular at magnetic equator such tangent horizontal East-West airshowers are bent and developed into a vertical fan air-shower, easily detectable by a vertical array detector (hanging elements by gravity). Such "medusa" arrays maybe composed by inflated floating balloons chains. The light gas float and it acts as an calorimeter for the particles, while it partially sustains the detector weight. Vertically hanging chains as well as rubber doughnut balloons (whose interior may record Cherenkov lights) reveal bundles of crossing electron pairs. Such an array maybe loaded at best and cheapest prototype in common balloons tracing upward and tangent hadron air-showers from terrestrial atmosphere edge. These array structure may reveal the split shower signature. Better revealing the composition nature. Just beyond the Earth horizons there are exciting, but rarer, sources of upward airshowers: the new UHE Tau Air-showers astronomy originated within Earth by EeVs tau neutrino signals skimming the soil and forming UHE Tau, decaying later in flight. Therefore Horizontal airshowers at equator may show the hadron horizontal twin split nature, its composition as well as a very first expected UHE Neutrino astronomy.

An apparent GRBs evolution around us or a sampling of thin GRB beaming jets?

The gamma ray burst apparent average isotropic power versus their red-shift of all known GRB (Sept.2009) is reported. It calls for an unrealistic Gamma Ray Burst Evolution around us or it just probe the need of a very thin gamma precession-jet model. These precessing and spinning jet are originated by Inverse Compton and-or Synchrotron Radiation at pulsars or micro-quasars sources, by ultra-relativistic electrons. These Jets are most powerful at Supernova birth, blazing, once on axis, to us and flashing GRB detector. The trembling of the thin jet (spinning, precessing, bent by magnetic fields) explains naturally the observed erratic multi-explosive structure of different GRBs and its rare re-brightening. The jets are precessing (by binary companion or inner disk asymmetry) and decaying by power law on time scales to a few hours. GRB blazing occurs inside the observer cone of view only a seconds duration times; because relativistic synchrotron (or IC) laws the jet angle is thinner in gamma but wider in X band. Its apparent brightening is so well correlated with its hardness (The Amati correlation). This explain the wider and longer X GRB afterglow duration and the (not so much) rare presence of X-ray precursors well before the apparent main GRB explosion. The jet lepton maybe originated by an inner primary hadron core (as well as pions and muons secondary Jets). The EGRET, AGILE and Fermi few hardest and late GeV gamma might be PeV neutron beta decay in flight observed in-axis under a relativistic shrinkage.

Achievements and Mirages in Uhecr and Neutrino Astronomy

Photon Astronomy ruled the last four centuries while wider photon band ruled last radio-X-Gamma century of discovery. Present decade may see the rise and competition of UHECR and UHE Neutrino Astronomy. Tau Neutrino may win and be the first flavor revealed. It could soon rise at horizons in AUGER at EeV energies, if nucleons are the main UHECR currier. If on the contrary UHECR are Lightest nuclei (He, Li. B) UHE tau neutrino maybe suppressed at EeV and enhanced at tens -hundred PeV. Detectable in AMIGA and HEAT denser sub-array in AUGER. Within a few years.

Lightest Nuclei in UHECR versus Tau Neutrino Astronomy

UHECR may be either nucleons or nuclei; in the latter case the Lightest Nuclei, as He, Li, Be, explains at best the absence of Virgo signals and the crowding of events around Cen-A bent by galactic magnetic fields. This model fit the observed nuclear mass composition discovered in AUGER. However UHECR nucleons above GZK produce EeV neutrinos while Heavy Nuclei, as Fe UHECR do not produce much. UHECR He nuclei at few tens EeV suffer nuclear fragmentation (producing low energetic neutrino at tens PeVs) but it suffer anyway photo-pion GZK suppression (leading to EeV neutrinos) once above one-few 10^{20} eV. Both these cosmogenic UHE secondary neutrinos signals may influence usual predicted GZK Tau Neutrino Astronomy in significant and detectable way; the role of resonant antineutrino electron-electron leading to Tau air-shower may also rise.

The XRF080109-SN2008D and a decade of GRB-Jet-SN connection

Last and nearest GRB-XRF 080109 has been an exceptional lesson on GRB nature. After a decade (since 25 April 08) we know that Supernovae may often contain a Jet. Its persistent activity may shine on axis as a GRBs. Such a persistent, thin beamed gamma jet may be powered by either a BH (Black Holes) or Pulsars. Late stages of these jets may loose the SN traces and appear as a short GRB or a long orphan GRB (depending on jet angular velocity and view angle). XRF are peripherical viewing of the jets. These precessing and spinning gamma jet are originated by Inverse Compton and-or Synchrotron Radiation at pulsars or micro-quasars sources, by ultra-relativistic electrons. These Jets are most powerful at Supernova birth, blazing, once on axis, to us and flashing GRB detector. The trembling of the thin jet explains naturally the observed erratic multi-explosive structure of different GRBs. The jets are precessing (by binary companion or inner disk asymmetry) and decaying by power on time scales of few hours, but they keep staying inside the observer cone view only a few seconds duration times (GRB); the jet is thinner in gamma and wider in X band. This explain the wider and longer X GRB afterglow duration and the rare presence of X-ray precursors.

Light Nuclei solving Auger puzzles. The Cen-A imprint

Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) map at 60 EeV have been found recently by AUGER group spreading anisotropy signatures in the sky. The result have been interpreted as a manifestation of AGN sources ejecting protons at GZK edges mostly from Super-galactic Plane. The result is surprising due to the absence of much nearer Virgo cluster. Moreover, early GZK cut off in the spectra may be better reconcile with light nuclei (than with protons). In addition a large group (nearly a dozen) of events cluster suspiciously along Cen-A. Finally, proton UHECR composition nature is in sharp disagreement with earlier AUGER claim of a heavy nuclei dominance at 40 EeV. Therefore we interpret here the signals as mostly UHECR light nuclei (He, Be, B, C, O), very possibly mostly the lightest (He,Be) ones, ejected from nearest AGN Cen-A, UHECR smeared by galactic magnetic fields, whose random vertical bending is overlapping with super-galactic arm. The eventual AUGER misunderstanding took place because of such a rare coincidence between the Super Galactic Plane (arm) and the smeared (randomized) signals from Cen-A, bent orthogonally to the Galactic fields. Our derivation verify the consistence of the random smearing angles for He, Be and B, C, O, in reasonable agreement with the AUGER main group events around Cen-A. Only few other rare events are spread elsewhere. The most collimated from Cen-A are the lightest. The most spread the heavier. Consequently Cen-A is the best candidate UHE neutrino tau observable by HEAT and AMIGA as enhanced AUGER array at tens-hundred PeV energy. This model maybe soon tested by new events clustering around the Cen-A and by composition imprint study.

Reflecting on Cherenkov reflections

Magic Telescope may observe and reveal at horizons lights from air-shower Cherenkov reflections. The ground, the sea, the cloudy sky (below the mountain) may reflect PeVs-EeV UHECR Cherenkov lights observable by MAGIC telescopes. Even rarest UHE neutrino skimming the atmosphere or skimming the Earth may induce upward-horizontal airshowers: a new Neutrino Astronomy. These fluorescence signals or the Cherenkov reflections in upper cloudy sky may flash in correlated BL-Lac or GRB shining at opposite edges. Geomagnetic splitting of Horizontal Air-showers may offer a new spectroscopy of UHECR from the knee up to GZK energy edges.

Asteroid Deflection: How, where and when?

To deflect impact-trajectory of massive km^3 and spinning asteroid by a few terrestrial radius one need a large momentum exchange. The dragging of huge spinning bodies in space by external engine seems difficult or impossible. Our solution is based on the landing of multi screw-rockets, powered by mini-nuclear engines, on the body, that dig a small fraction of the soil surface, to use as an exhaust propeller, ejecting it vertically in phase among themselves. Such a mass ejection increases the momentum exchange, their number redundancy guarantees the stability of the system. The slow landing (below 40 cm s^-1) of each engine-unity at those lowest gravity field, may be achieved by save rolling and bouncing along the surface. The engine array tuned activity, overcomes the asteroid angular velocity. Coherent turning of the jet heads increases the deflection efficiency. A procession along its surface may compensate at best the asteroid spin. A small skin-mass (about 2 10^4 tons) may be ejected by mini nuclear engines. Such prototypes may also build first save galleries for humans on the Moon. Conclusive deflecting tests might be performed on remote asteroids. The incoming asteroid 99942 Apophis (just 2% of km^3) may be deflected safely a few Earth radius. How to tag its trajectory is described. Its encounter maybe not just a hazard but an opportunity, learning how to land, dig, build and also to nest save human station inside. Asteroids amplified deflections by gravity swing maybe driven into longest planetary journeys. Mars journey may benefict by Phobos natural asteroid parking and fueling role.

Cherenkov Flashes and Fluorescence Flares on Telescopes: New lights on UHECR Spectroscopy while unveiling Neutrinos Astronomy

Cherenkov Telescopes (as Magic, Hess and Veritas), while pointing horizontally should reveal also the fluorescence flare tails of nearby down-going air-showers. Such air-showers, born at higher (tens km) altitudes, are growing and extending up to lowest atmospheres (EeVs) or up to higher (few km) quotas (PeVs). Viceversa, as it has been foreseen and only recently observed, the opposite takes place. Fluorescence Telescopes made for UHECR detection may be blazed by inclined Cherenkov lights. The geomagnetic splitting may tag the energy as well as the inclined shower footprint as seen in a recent peculiar event in AUGER. Additional stereoscopic detection may define the event origination distance and its consequent primary composition, extending our understanding on UHECR composition, while unveling a novel tau Neutrino Astronomy.

Why Tau First?

Electron neutrino has been the first neutral lepton to be foreseen and discovered last century. The un-ordered muon and its neutrino arose later by cosmic rays. The tau discover, the heaviest, the most unstable charged lepton, was found surprisingly on 1975. Its neutrino was hardly revealed just on 2000. So why High Energy Neutrino Astronomy should rise first via tau neutrino, the last, the most rare one? The reasons are based on a chain of three favorable coincidences found last decade: the neutrino masses and their flavor mixing, the UHECR opacity on Cosmic Black Body (GZK cut off on BBR), the amplified tau air-shower decaying in flight. Indeed guaranteed UHE GZK tau neutrinos, feed by muon mixing, while skimming the Earth might lead to boosted UHE tau, mostly horizontal ones. These UHE lepton decay in flight are spread, amplified, noise free Air-Shower: a huge event for an unique particle. To be observed soon: within Auger sky, in present decade. Its discover may sign of the first tau appearance.

Splitting neutrino masses and showering into Sky

Neutrino masses might be as light as a few time the atmospheric neutrino mass splitting. High Energy ZeV cosmic neutrinos (in Z-Showering model) might hit relic ones at each mass in different resonance energies in our nearby Universe. This non-degenerated density and energy must split UHE Z-boson secondaries (in Z-Burst model) leading to multi injection of UHECR nucleons within future extreme AUGER energy. Secondaries of Z-Burst as neutral gamma, below a few tens EeV are better surviving local GZK cut-off and they might explain recent Hires BL-Lac UHECR correlations at small angles. A different high energy resonance must lead to Glashow's anti-neutrino showers while hitting electrons in matter. In air, Glashow's anti-neutrino showers lead to collimated and directional air-showers offering a new Neutrino Astronomy. At greater energy around PeV, Tau escaping mountains and Earth and decaying in flight are effectively showering in air sky. These Horizontal showering is splitting by geomagnetic field in forked shapes. Such air-showers secondaries release amplified and beamed gamma bursts (like observed TGF), made also by muon and electron pair bundles, with their accompanying rich Cherenkov flashes. Also planet' s largest (Saturn, Jupiter) atmosphere limbs offer an ideal screen for UHE GZK and Z-burst tau neutrino, because their largest sizes. Titan thick atmosphere and small radius are optimal for discovering up-going resonant Glashow resonant showers. Earth detection of Neutrino showering by twin Magic Telescopes on top mountains, or by balloons and satellites arrays facing the limbs are the simplest and cheapest way toward UHE Neutrino Astronomy .

Solving GRBs and SGRs puzzles by precessing Jets

A persistent, thin, micro-nano sr. beamed gamma jet, may be ejected from BH and Pulsars, powered by ultra-relativistic electron pairs. These jet while precessing and spinning are originated by Inverse Compton and-or Synchrotron Radiation at pulsars or micro-quasars sources. They are most powerful at Supernova birth, blazing, once on axis, to us and flashing GRB detector. The trembling of thin jets explains naturally the observed erratic multi-explosive structure of different GRBs. The jets are precessing and decaying on time scales of a few hours surviving as long as thousands of years, linking huge GRB-SN jet apparent Luminosity to more modest SGR relic Jets. Therefore long-life SGR may be repeating and if they are around our galaxy they might be observed again as the few known ones and a few rarer extragalactic XRFs. The orientation of the beam respect to the line of sight plays a key role in differentiating the wide GRB morphology. The relativistic cone is as small as the inverse of the electron progenitor Lorentz factor. The hardest and brightest gamma spectra are hidden inside the inner gamma jet axis. To observe the inner beamed GRB events one needs the widest SN sample and largest cosmic volumes. The most beamed are hardest. The nearest ones, within tens Mpc distances, are mostly observable on cone jet periphery leading to longest SN-GRB duration, with lowest fluency and the softest spectra, as in earliest GRB98425 and recent GRB 060218 signature. Conical shape of few nebulae describe in space the model signature. Recent X-ray precursor, like in GRB060124, ten minutes before the GRB event, or in SGR1806-20 two minutes before the main giant burst cannot be understood otherwise.

Dark matter with invisible light from heavy double charged leptons of almost-commutative geometry?

A new candidate of cold dark matter arises by a novel elementary particle model: the almostcommutative AC-geometrical framework. Two heavy leptons are added to the Standard Model, each one sharing a double opposite electric charge and an own lepton flavor number The novel mathematical theory of almost-commutative geometry [1] wishes to unify gauge models with gravity. In this scenario two new heavy (m_L>100GeV), oppositely double charged leptons (A,C),(A with charge -2 and C with charge +2), are born with no twin quark companions. The model naturally involves a new U(1) gauge interaction, possessed only by the AC-leptons and providing a Coulomblike attraction between them. AC-leptons posses electro-magnetic as well as Z-boson interaction and, according to the charge chosen for the new U(1) gauge interaction, a new "invisible light" interaction. Their final cosmic relics are bounded into "neutral" stable atoms (AC) forming the mysterious cold dark matter, in the spirit of the Glashow's Sinister model. An (AC) state is reached in the early Universe along a tail of a few secondary frozen exotic components. They should be now here somehow hidden in the surrounding matter. The two main secondary manifest relics are C (mostly hidden in a neutral (Cee) "anomalous helium" atom, at a 10-8 ratio) and a corresponding "ion" A bounded with an ordinary helium ion (4He); indeed the positive helium ions are able to attract and capture the free A fixing them into a neutral relic cage that has nuclear interaction (4HeA).

Updated Z-Burst Neutrinos at Horizons

Recent homogeneous and isotropic maps of UHECR, suggest an isotropic cosmic origin almost uncorrelated to nearby Local Universe prescribed by GZK (tens Mpc) cut-off. Z-Burst model based on UHE neutrino resonant scattering on light relic ones in nearby Hot neutrino Dark Halo, may overcome the absence of such a local imprint and explain the recent correlation with BL Lac at distances of a few hundred Mpc. Z-Burst multiple imprint, due to very possible lightest non-degenerated neutrino masses, may inject energy and modulate UHECR ZeV edge spectra. The Z-burst (and GZK) ultra high energy neutrinos (ZeV and EeV band) may also shine, by UHE neutrinos mass state mixing, and rise in corresponding UHE Tau neutrino flavor, whose charged current tau production and its decay in flight, maybe the source of UHE showering on Earth. The Radius and the atmosphere size of our planet constrains the tau maximal distance and energy to make a shower. These terrestrial tau energies are near GZK energy limit. Higher distances and energies are available in bigger planets; eventual solar atmosphere horizons may amplify the UHE tau flight allowing tau showering at ZeV energies offering a novel way to reveal the expected Z-Burst extreme neutrino fluxes.

UHE Cosmic Rays and Neutrinos Showering on Planet Edges

Ultra High Energy (UHE) Cosmic Rays, UHECR, may graze high altitude atmosphere leading to horizontal upward air-showers. Also PeVs electron antineutrino hitting electron in atmosphere may air-shower at W boson resonant mass. On the other side ultra high energy muon and electron neutrinos may also lead, by UHE neutrinos mass state mixing, to the rise of a corresponding UHE Tau neutrino flavor; the consequent UHE tau neutrinos, via charge current interactions in matter, may create UHE taus at horizons (Earth skimming neutrinos or Hor-taus) whose escape in atmosphere and whose consequent decay in flight, may be later amplified by upward showering on terrestrial, planetary atmospheres. Indeed because of the finite terrestrial radius, its thin atmosphere size its dense crust, the UHE tau cannot extend much more than 360 kilometers in air, corresponding to an energy of about 7.2 EeV, near but below GZK cut-off ones; on the contrary Jupiter (or even Saturn) may offer a wider, less dense and thicker gaseous layer at the horizons where Tau may loose little energy, travel longer before decay and rise and shower at 4-6 10^{19} eV or ZeV extreme energy. Titan atmosphere may open a rare window of opportunity for Up-ward Taus at PeVs. Also solar atmosphere may play a role, but unfortunately tau-showers secondaries maybe are too noisy to be disentangled, while Jupiter atmosphere, or better, Saturn one, may offer a clearer imprint for GZK (and higher Z-Burst) Tau showering, well below the horizons edges.

Neutrino Astronomy and Cosmic Rays Spectroscopy at Horizons

A new air-showering physics may rise in next years at horizon, offering at different angles and altitudes a fine tuned filtered Cosmic Rays astrophysics and an upward Neutrino induced air-showering astronomy. Most of this opportunity arises because of neutrino masses, their mixing and the consequent replenishment of rarest tau flavor during its flight in Space. Horizontal air atmosphere act as a filter for High energy Cosmic Rays (CR) and as a beam dump for Ultra High Energy (UHE) neutrinos and a powerfull amplifier for its tau decay in air by its wide showering areas. Earth sharp shadows plays the role of a huge detector volume for UHE neutrino and a noise-free screen for upcoming EeVs tau air-showers (as well PeVs anti-neutrino electron air interactions). Projects for Tau Airshowers are growing at the top of a mountains or at the edge of a cliff. ASHRA in Hawaii and CRNTN in Utah are tracking fluorescence lights, while other novel projects on Crown array detectors on mountains, on balloons and satellites are elaborated for Cherenkov lights. AUGER, facing the Ande edges, ARGO located within a deep valley are testing inclined showers; MILAGRO (and MILAGRITO) may be triggered by horizontal up-going muon bundles from the Earth edges; HIRES and AUGER UHECR detectors, linking twin array telescopes along their axis may test horizontal Cerenkov blazing photons. MAGIC (Hess, Veritas) and Shalon Telescopes may act already like a detector for few PeVs and Glashow resonance neutrino events; MAGIC pointing downward to terrestrial ground acts as a massive tens of km^3 detector, making it the most sensitive dedicated neutrino telescope. MAGIC facing the sea edges must reveal mirrored downward UHECR Air-showers Cherenkov flashes. Magic-crown systems may lead to tens km^3, neutrino detectors.
