Rational solutions of dressing chains and higher order Painleve equations

We present a new approach to determine the rational solutions of the higher order Painleve equations associated to periodic dressing chain systems. We obtain new sets of solutions, giving determinantal representations indexed by specific Maya diagrams in the odd case or universal characters in the even case.

Recurrence Relations for Exceptional Hermite Polynomials

The bispectral anti-isomorphism is applied to differential operators involving elements of the stabilizer ring to produce explicit formulas for all difference operators having any of the Hermite exceptional orthogonal polynomials as eigenfunctions with eigenvalues that are polynomials in $x$.

Towards a Theory of Chaos Explained as Travel on Riemann Surfaces

This paper presents a more complete version than hitherto published of our explanation of a transition from regular to irregular motions and more generally of the nature of a certain kind of deterministic chaos. To this end we introduced a simple model analogous to a three-body problem in the plane, whose general solution is obtained via quadratures all performed in terms of elementary functions. For some values of the coupling constants the system is isochronous and explicit formulas for the period of the solutions can be given. For other values, the motions are confined but feature aperiodic (in some sense chaotic) motions. This rich phenomenology can be understood in remarkable, quantitative detail in terms of travel on a certain (circular) path on the Riemann surfaces defined by the solutions of a related model considered as functions of a complex time. This model is meant to provide a paradigmatic first step towards a somewhat novel understanding of a certain kind of chaotic phenomena.

The Transition from Regular to Irregular Motions, Explained as Travel on Riemann Surfaces

We introduce and discuss a simple Hamiltonian dynamical system, interpretable as a 3-body problem in the complex plane and providing the prototype of a mechanism explaining the transition from regular to irregular motions as travel on Riemann surfaces. The interest of this phenomenology -- illustrating the onset in a deterministic context of irregular motions -- is underlined by its generality, suggesting its eventual relevance to understand natural phenomena and experimental investigations. Here only some of our main findings are reported, without detailing their proofs: a more complete presentation will be published elsewhere.

Supersymmetry and algebraic deformations

We describe a class of algebraically solvable SUSY models by considering the deformation of invariant polynomial flags by means of the Darboux transformation. The algebraic deformations corresponding to the addition of a bound state to a shape-invariant potential are particularly interesting. The polynomial flags in question are indexed by a deformation parameter m=1,2,... and lead to new algebraically solvable models. We illustrate these ideas by considering deformations of the hyperbolic Pöschl-Teller potential.

Quasi-Exact Solvability and the direct approach to invariant subspaces

We propose a more direct approach to constructing differential operators that preserve polynomial subspaces than the one based on considering elements of the enveloping algebra of sl(2). This approach is used here to construct new exactly solvable and quasi-exactly solvable quantum Hamiltonians on the line which are not Lie-algebraic. It is also applied to generate potentials with multiple algebraic sectors. We discuss two illustrative examples of these two applications: an interesting generalization of the Lamé potential which posses four algebraic sectors, and a quasi-exactly solvable deformation of the Morse potential which is not Lie-algebraic.

On the Sutherland Spin Model of B_N Type and its Associated Spin Chain

The B_N hyperbolic Sutherland spin model is expressed in terms of a suitable set of commuting Dunkl operators. This fact is exploited to derive a complete family of commuting integrals of motion of the model, thus establishing its integrability. The Dunkl operators are shown to possess a common flag of invariant finite-dimensional linear spaces of smooth scalar functions. This implies that the Hamiltonian of the model preserves a corresponding flag of smooth spin functions. The discrete spectrum of the restriction of the Hamiltonian to this spin flag is explicitly computed by triangularization. The integrability of the hyperbolic Sutherland spin chain of B_N type associated with the dynamical model is proved using Polychronakos's "freezing trick".

New spin Calogero-Sutherland models related to B_N-type Dunkl operators

We construct several new families of exactly and quasi-exactly solvable BC_N-type Calogero-Sutherland models with internal degrees of freedom. Our approach is based on the introduction of two new families of Dunkl operators of B_N type which, together with the original B_N-type Dunkl operators, are shown to preserve certain polynomial subspaces of finite dimension. We prove that a wide class of quadratic combinations involving these three sets of Dunkl operators always yields a spin Calogero-Sutherland model, which is (quasi-)exactly solvable by construction. We show that all the spin Calogero-Sutherland models obtainable within this framework can be expressed in a unified way in terms of a Weierstrass P function with suitable half-periods. This provides a natural spin counterpart of the well-known general formula for a scalar completely integrable potential of BC_N type due to Olshanetsky and Perelomov. As an illustration of our method, we exactly compute several energy levels and their corresponding wavefunctions of an elliptic quasi-exactly solvable potential for two and three particles of spin 1/2.

A_N-type Dunkl operators and new spin Calogero-Sutherland models

A new family of A_N-type Dunkl operators preserving a polynomial subspace of finite dimension is constructed. Using a general quadratic combination of these operators and the usual Dunkl operators, several new families of exactly and quasi-exactly solvable quantum spin Calogero-Sutherland models are obtained. These include, in particular, three families of quasi-exactly solvable elliptic spin Hamiltonians.

Exact solutions of an elliptic Calogero--Sutherland model

A model describing N particles on a line interacting pairwise via an elliptic function potential in the presence of an external field is partially solved in the quantum case in a totally algebraic way. As an example, the ground state and the lowest excitations are calculated explicitly for N=2.

New Algebraic Quantum Many-body Problems

We develop a systematic procedure for constructing quantum many-body problems whose spectrum can be partially or totally computed by purely algebraic means. The exactly-solvable models include rational and hyperbolic potentials related to root systems, in some cases with an additional external field. The quasi-exactly solvable models can be considered as deformations of the previous ones which share their algebraic character.

Symmetries of Discrete Dynamical Systems Involving Two Species

The Lie point symmetries of a coupled system of two nonlinear differential-difference equations are investigated. It is shown that in special cases the symmetry group can be infinite dimensional, in other cases up to 10 dimensional. The equations can describe the interaction of two long molecular chains, each involving one type of atoms.
