Williams' Conjecture holds for meteor graphs

A meteor graph is a connected graph with no sources and sinks consisting of two disjoint cycles and the paths connecting these cycles. We prove that two meteor graphs are shift equivalent if and only if they are strongly shift equivalent, if and only if their corresponding Leavitt path algebras are graded Morita equivalent, if and only if their graded $K$-theories, $K_0^{gr}$, are $\mathbb Z [x,x^{-1}]$-module isomorphic. As a consequence, the Leavitt path algebras of meteor graphs are graded Morita equivalent if and only if their graph $C^*$-algebras are equivariant Morita equivalent.

Report of the Topical Group on Higgs Physics for Snowmass 2021: The Case for Precision Higgs Physics

A future Higgs Factory will provide improved precision on measurements of Higgs couplings beyond those obtained by the LHC, and will enable a broad range of investigations across the fields of fundamental physics, including the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, the origin of the masses and mixing of fundamental particles, the predominance of matter over antimatter, and the nature of dark matter. Future colliders will measure Higgs couplings to a few per cent, giving a window to beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics in the 1-10 TeV range. In addition, they will make precise measurements of the Higgs width, and characterize the Higgs self-coupling. This report details the work of the EF01 and EF02 working groups for the Snowmass 2021 study.

Snowmass White Paper: Prospects of CP-violation measurements with the Higgs boson at future experiments

The search for CP violation in interactions of the Higgs boson with either fermions or bosons provides attractive reference measurements in the Particle Physics Community Planning Exercise (a.k.a. "Snowmass"). Benchmark measurements of CP violation provide a limited and well-defined set of parameters that could be tested at the proton, electron-positron, photon, and muon colliders, and compared to those achieved through study of virtual effects in electric dipole moment measurements. We review the current status of these CP-sensitive studies and provide projections to future measurements.

Higgs Quantum Numbers in Weak Boson Fusion

Recently, the ATLAS and CMS experiments have reported the discovery of a Higgs like resonance at the LHC. The next analysis step will include the determination of its spin and CP quantum numbers or the form of its interaction Lagrangian channel-by-channel. We show how weak-boson-fusion Higgs production and associated ZH production can be used to separate different spin and CP states.

Embeddings of homology equivalent manifolds with boundary

We prove a theorem on equivariant maps implying the following two corollaries: (1) Let N and M be compact orientable n-manifolds with boundaries such that M\subset N, the inclusion M\to N induces an isomorphism in integral cohomology, both M and N have (n-d-1)-dimensional spines and m > max {n+2, (3n+1-d)/2} . Then the restriction-induced map E^m(N)\to E^m(M) is bijective. Here E^m(X) is the set of embeddings X\to R^m up to isotopy (in the PL or smooth category). (2) For a 3-manifold N with boundary whose integral homology groups are trivial and such that N\not\cong D^3 (or for its special 2-spine N) there exists an equivariant map from the deleted product of N to S^2, although N does not embed into R^3. The second corollary completes the answer to the following question: for which pairs (m,n) for each n-polyhedron N the existence of an equivariant map from the deleted product of N to S^{m-1} implies the embeddability of N into R^m? An answer was known for each pair (m,n) except (3,3) and (3,2).

Automized Squark-Neutralino Production to Next-to-Leading Order

The production of one hard jet in association with missing transverse energy is a major LHC search channel motivated by many scenarios for physics beyond the Standard Model. In scenarios with a weakly interacting dark matter candidate, like supersymmetry, it arises from the associated production of a quark partner with the dark matter agent. We present the next-to-leading order cross section calculation as the first application of the fully automized MadGolem package. We find moderate corrections to the production rate with a strongly reduced theory uncertainty.

Signals for New Spin-1 Resonances in Electroweak Gauge Boson Pair Production at the LHC

The mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) will be directly scrutinized soon at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We analyze the LHC potential to look for new vector bosons associated with the EWSB sector. We present a possible model independent approach to search for these new spin--1 resonances. We show that the analyses of the processes pp --> l^+ l^- Emiss_T, l^\pm j j Emiss_T, l^\pm l^+ l^- Emiss_T, and l^+ l^- j j (with l=e or μand j=jet) have a large reach at the LHC and can lead to the discovery or exclusion of many EWSB scenarios such as Higgsless models.

Envelope Algebras of Partial Actions as Groupoid C*-Algebras

We describe the envelope C*-algebra associated to a partial action of a countable discrete group on a locally compact space as a groupoid C*-algebra (more precisely as a C*-algebra from an equivalence relation) and we use our approach to show that, for a large class of partial actions of Z on the Cantor set, the envelope C*-algebra is an AF-algebra. We also completely characterize partial actions of a countable discrete group on a compact space such that the envelope action acts in a Hausdorff space.
