Testing classicality of gravity by gravitation decoherence

Here we discuss an influence of an external weak gravitational field on the gravitational self-decoherence effect with help of the stochastic extension of regularized Shrödinger-Newton equation in a curved background. We derive the master equation and demonstrate that it leads to the experimentally verifiable conclusions about applicability of the classical description of the weak gravitation field. Namely, a presence of oscillating terms in the otherwise purely exponential decay of the coherence would indicate classicality of gravity for the case.

Complete-return spectrum for a generalized Rosen-Zener two-state term-crossing model

The general semiclassical time-dependent two-state problem is considered for a specific field configuration referred to as the generalized Rosen-Zener model. This is a rich family of pulse amplitude- and phase-modulation functions describing both non-crossing and term-crossing models with one or two crossing points. The model includes the original constant-detuning non-crossing Rosen-Zener model as a particular case. We show that the governing system of equations is reduced to a confluent Heun equation. When inspecting the conditions for returning the system to the initial state at the end of the interaction with the field, we reformulate the problem as an eigenvalue problem for the peak Rabi frequency and apply the Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation theory. Further, we develop a generalized approach for finding the higher-order approximations, which is applicable for the whole variation region of the involved input parameters of the system. We examine the general surface in the 3D space of input parameters, which defines the position of the n-th order return-resonance, and show that the section of the general surface is accurately approximated by an ellipse. We find a highly accurate analytic description through the zeros of a Kummer confluent hypergeometric function. From the point of view of the generality, the analytical description of mentioned curve for the whole variation range of all involved parameters is the main result of the present paper.

The quantum de Finetti representation for the Bayesian Quantum Tomography and the Quantum Discord

We point out that the quantum de Finetti representation, unique for infinitely extendable exchangeable systems, assigns a non-zero Quantum Discord to uncorrelated systems and thus cannot serve as an universal prior distribution in the Bayesian Quantum Tomography. This apparent paradox stems from linearity of the Born rule for the probability assignment in Quantum Mechanics, which results in mixing of one's knowledge about the quantum state and the representative of the state in one density matrix.

The three-site Bose-Hubbard model subject to atom losses: the boson-pair dissipation channel and failure of the mean-field approach

We employ the perturbation series expansion for derivation of the reduced master equations for the three-site Bose-Hubbard model subject to strong atom losses from the central site. The model describes a condensate trapped in a triple-well potential subject to externally controlled removal of atoms. We find that the $π$-phase state of the coherent superposition between the side wells decays via two dissipation channels, the single-boson channel (similar to the externally applied dissipation) and the boson-pair channel. The quantum derivation is compared to the classical adiabatic elimination within the mean-field approximation. We find that the boson-pair dissipation channel is not captured by the mean-field model, whereas the single-boson channel is described by it. Moreover, there is a matching condition between the zero-point energy bias of the side wells and the nonlinear interaction parameter which separates the regions where either the single-boson or the boson-pair dissipation channel dominate. Our results indicate that the $M$-site Bose-Hubbard models, for $M>2$, subject to atom losses may require an analysis which goes beyond the usual mean-field approximation for correct description of their dissipative features. This is an important result in view of the recent experimental works on the single site addressability of condensates trapped in optical lattices.
