Apodex 1.1: Scaling Agentic Intelligence for Complex Work

General-purpose language models can reason and synthesize knowledge, but complex work also requires sustained interaction with files, information sources, and executable code, together with state maintenance, failure recovery, and verifiable delivery. We call this \emph{working capability}: sustained, verifiable progress toward a real-world objective. Apodex 1.1 develops this capability along two complementary dimensions. \emph{Environment Scaling} expands the diversity and verifiability of executable file, search, and code environments, while \emph{Agentic Coordination Scaling} trains agents to decompose long-horizon tasks, delegate parallel work, integrate asynchronous results, and replan. A shared execution harness and AgentOS maintain task state and provenance across tools and agents, and training turns environment trajectories and coordination traces into reliable behavior. Across complex professional work, finance, scientific research, mathematics, coding, and search, Apodex 1.1 reaches the leading performance band despite using a substantially smaller model than many frontier systems. The 35B-parameter Apodex 1.1 Mini further retains strong working capability in a locally deployable form. These results ground agentic intelligence in useful, verifiable work completed over time and advance our goal of building a \emph{Heavy-Duty Solver} for ambitious, long-running tasks.

Self-Supervised Speech Representations Track Spoken Language Convergence to Adult Models in Infants and Children Who Are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing

Language development is characterized by a gradual convergence of children's speech toward adult patterns. Measuring this process has traditionally required detailed transcription and language-specific expertise, limiting scalability across languages and populations. Here, we use speech embeddings to capture this convergence directly from the acoustic signal in longform, child-centered recordings, taken as children go about their daily lives. Using HuBERT-BASE, we extracted embeddings from speech vocalizations of children who are deaf/hard-of-hearing and their female adult caregivers ($>$925 hrs. observation). Embedding distance between children and caregivers decreased with hearing age, controlling for pitch and vocalization length, indicating, as expected, that children's speech patterns converge to caregivers over development. This single distance metric likewise related to multiple standardized measures of speech and language from infancy through preschoolhood. These results suggest a path toward scalable, language-neutral assessment of spoken language development from children's everyday lives.

Fusion of visible and infrared images via complex function

We propose an algorithm for the fusion of partial images collected from the visual and infrared cameras such that the visual and infrared images are the real and imaginary parts of a complex function. The proposed image fusion algorithm of the complex function is a generalization for the algorithm of conventional image addition in the same way as the addition of complex numbers is the generalization for the addition of real numbers. The proposed algorithm of the complex function is simple in use and non-demanding in computer power. The complex form of the fused image opens a possibility to form the fused image either as the amplitude image or as a phase image, which in turn can be in several forms. We show theoretically that the local contrast of the fused phase images is higher than those of the partial images as well as in comparison with the images obtained by the algorithm of the simple or weighted addition. Experimental image quality assessment of the fused phase images performed using the histograms, entropy shows the higher quality of the phase images in comparison with those of the input partial images as well as those obtained with different fusion methods reported in the literature. Onset of Collectivity in Neutron Deficient $^{196,198}$Po

We have studied via in-beam $γ$-ray spectroscopy $^{196}$Po and $^{198}$Po, which are the first neutron-deficient Po isotopes to exhibit a collective low-lying structure. The ratios of yrast state energies and the E2 branching ratios of transitions from non-yrast to yrast states are indicative of a low-lying vibrational structure. The onset of collective motion in these isotopes can be attributed to the opening of the neutron i$_{13/2}$ orbital at N$\approx$112 and the resulting large overlap between the two valence protons in the h$_{9/2}$ orbital and the valence neutrons in the i$_{13/2}$ orbital.
