Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetries in the production of $Ξ$ and $Ω$ baryons in $p \bar{p}$ collisions

We measure the forward-backward asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ of charged $Ξ$ and $Ω$ baryons produced in $p \bar{p}$ collisions recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV as a function of the baryon rapidity $y$. We find that the asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ for charged $Ξ$ and $Ω$ baryons are consistent with zero within statistical uncertainties.

Study of double parton interactions in diphoton + dijet events in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV

We use a sample of diphoton + dijet events to measure the effective cross section of double parton interactions, which is found to be $σ_{\rm eff} = 19.3$ $\pm$ $1.4({\rm stat})$ $\pm$ $7.8({\rm syst})$ mb. The sample was collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb$^{-1}$.

Evidence for simultaneous production of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ mesons

We report evidence for the simultaneous production of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ mesons in 8.1 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab $p \bar p$ Tevatron Collider. Events with these characteristics are expected to be produced predominantly by gluon-gluon interactions. In this analysis, we extract the effective cross section characterizing the initial parton spatial distribution, $σ_{eff}=2.2\pm 0.7\mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.9 \mbox{(syst)} ~\mbox{mb}$.

Tevatron Combination of Single-Top-Quark Cross Sections and Determination of the Magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa Matrix Element $\bf V_{tb}$

We present the final combination of CDF and D0 measurements of cross sections for single-top-quark production in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data correspond to total integrated luminosities of up to 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ per experiment. The $t$-channel cross section is measured to be $σ_t = 2.25^{+0.29}_{-0.31}$ pb. We also present the combinations of the two-dimensional measurements of the $s$- vs. $t$-channel cross sections and of the $s+t$ channel cross section measurement resulting in $σ_{s+t} = 3.30^{+0.52}_{-0.40}$ pb, without assuming the standard-model value for the ratio $σ_s/σ_t$. The resulting value of the magnitude of the top-to-bottom quark coupling is $|V_{tb}|$ = $1.02^{+0.06}_{-0.05}$, corresponding to $|V_{tb}| > 0.92$ at the 95% C.L.

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry in $Λ_b^0$ and $\overline Λ_b^0$ baryon production in $p \overline p$ collisions at $\sqrt s =1.96$ TeV

We measure the forward-backward asymmetry in the production of $Λ_b^0$ and $\overline Λ_b^0$ baryons as a function of rapidity in $p \overline p $ collisions at $\sqrt s =1.96$ TeV using $10.4$ fb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The asymmetry is determined by the preference of $Λ_b^0$ or $\overline Λ_b^0$ particles to be produced in the direction of the beam protons or antiprotons, respectively. The measured asymmetry integrated over rapidity $y$ in the range $0.1<|y|<2$ is $A=0.04 \pm 0.07 {\rm (stat)} \pm 0.02 {\rm (syst)}$.

Measurement of the ratio of inclusive cross sections $σ(p\bar{p} \rightarrow Z+2~b \text{jets}) / σ(p\bar{p} \rightarrow Z+ \text{2 jets})$ in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt s=1.96$ TeV

We measure the ratio of cross sections, $σ(p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z+2~b~\text{jets})$/$σ(p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z+\text{2 jets})$, for associated production of a $Z$ boson with at least two jets with transverse momentum $p_T^{\rm jet} > 20$ GeV and pseudorapidity $|η^{\rm jet}| < 2.5$. This measurement uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the \DO experiment in Run II of Fermilab's Tevatron \ppbar Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The measured integrated ratio of $0.0236\pm0.0032\left(\mbox{stat}\right)\pm0.0035\left(\mbox{syst}\right)$ is in agreement with predictions from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD and the Monte Carlo event generators {\sc pythia} and {\sc alpgen}.

Search for Violation of $CPT$ and Lorentz invariance in ${B_s^0}$ meson oscillations

We present the first search for CPT-violating effects in the mixing of ${B_s^0}$ mesons using the full Run II data set with an integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-antiproton collisions collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the CPT-violating asymmetry in the decay $B_s^0 \to μ^\pm D_s^\pm$ as a function of celestial direction and sidereal phase. We find no evidence for CPT-violating effects and place limits on the direction and magnitude of flavor-dependent CPT- and Lorentz-invariance violating coupling coefficients. We find 95\% confidence intervals of $Δa_{\perp} < 1.2 \times 10^{-12}$ GeV and $(-0.8 < Δa_T - 0.396 Δa_Z < 3.9) \times 10^{-13}$ GeV.

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ production in $p \bar{p}$ collisions

We study $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ production asymmetries in $p \bar{p} \rightarrow Λ(\barΛ) X$, $p \bar{p} \rightarrow J/ψΛ(\barΛ) X$, and $p \bar{p} \rightarrow μ^\pm Λ(\barΛ) X$ events recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV. We find an excess of $Λ$'s ($\barΛ$'s) produced in the proton (antiproton) direction. This forward-backward asymmetry is measured as a function of rapidity. We confirm that the $\barΛ/Λ$ production ratio, measured by several experiments with various targets and a wide range of energies, is a universal function of "rapidity loss", i.e., the rapidity difference of the beam proton and the lambda.

Simultaneous measurement of forward-backward asymmetry and top polarization in dilepton final states from $t\bar t$ production at the Tevatron

We present a simultaneous measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry and the top-quark polarization in $t\bar t$ production in dilepton final states using 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV with the D0 detector. To reconstruct the distributions of kinematic observables we employ a matrix element technique that calculates the likelihood of the possible $t\bar t$ kinematic configurations. After accounting for the presence of background events and for calibration effects, we obtain a forward-backward asymmetry of $A^{t\bar t} = (15.0 \pm 6.4 \text{ (stat)} \pm 4.9 \text{ (syst)})\%$ and a top-quark polarization times spin analyzing power in the beam basis of $κP = (7.2 \pm 10.5 \text{ (stat)} \pm 4.2 \text{ (syst)})\%$, with a correlation of $-56\%$ between the measurements. If we constrain the forward-backward asymmetry to its expected standard model value, we obtain a measurement of the top polarization of $κP = (11.3 \pm 9.1 \text{ (stat)} \pm 1.9 \text{ (syst)})\%.$ If we constrain the top polarization to its expected standard model value, we measure a forward-backward asymmetry of $A^{t\bar t} = (17.5 \pm 5.6 \text{ (stat)} \pm 3.1 \text{ (syst)})\%.$ A combination with the D0 $A^{t\bar t}$ measurement in the lepton+jets final state yields an asymmetry of $ A^{t\bar t} = (11.8 \pm 2.5 \text{ (stat)} \pm 1.3 \text{ (syst)})\% . $ Within their respective uncertainties, all these results are consistent with the standard model expectations.

Inclusive production of the $X(4140)$ state in $p \overline p $ collisions at D0

We present a study of the inclusive production of the $X(4140)$ with the decay to the $J/ψϕ$ final state in hadronic collisions. Based on $10.4~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $p \overline p $ collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we report the first evidence for the prompt production of $X(4140)$ and find the fraction of $X(4140)$ events originating from $b$ hadrons to be $f_b=0.39\pm 0.07 {\rm \thinspace (stat)} \pm 0.10 {\rm \thinspace (syst)} $. The ratio of the non-prompt $X(4140)$ production rate to the $B_s^0$ yield in the same channel is $R=0.19 \pm 0.05 {\rm \thinspace (stat)} \pm 0.07 {\rm \thinspace (syst)}$. The values of the mass $M=4152.5 \pm 1.7 (\rm {stat}) ^{+6.2}_{-5.4} {\rm \thinspace (syst)}$~MeV and width $Γ=16.3 \pm 5.6 {\rm \thinspace (stat)} \pm 11.4 {\rm \thinspace (syst)}$~MeV are consistent with previous measurements. 8 pages, 2 figues

Precise measurement of the top quark mass in dilepton decays using optimized neutrino weighting

We measure the top quark mass in dilepton final states of top-antitop events in proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb^-1 at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The analysis features a comprehensive optimization of the neutrino weighting method to minimize the statistical uncertainties. We also improve the calibration of jet energies using the calibration determined in top-antitop to lepton+jets events, which reduces the otherwise limiting systematic uncertainty from the jet energy scale. The measured top quark mass is mt = 173.32 +/- 1.36(stat) +/- 0.85(syst) GeV.

Precision measurement of the top-quark mass in lepton+jets final states

We measure the mass of the top quark in lepton$+$jets final states using the full sample of $p\bar{p}$ collision data collected by the D0 experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at $\sqrt s=1.96 $TeV, corresponding to $9.7 {\rm fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use a matrix element technique that calculates the probabilities for each event to result from $t\bar t$ production or background. The overall jet energy scale is constrained in situ by the mass of the $W$ boson. We measure $m_t=174.98\pm0.76$ GeV. This constitutes the most precise single measurement of the top-quark mass.

Measurement of differential $t\bar{t}$ production cross sections in $p\bar{p}$ collisions

The production of top quark-antiquark pair events in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV is studied as a function of the transverse momentum and absolute value of the rapidity of the top quarks as well as of the invariant mass of the $t\bar{t}$ pair. We select events containing an isolated lepton, a large imbalance in transverse momentum, and four or more jets with at least one jet identified to originate from a $b$ quark. The data sample corresponds to 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Observed differential cross sections are consistent with standard model predictions.

Measurement of the electron charge asymmetry in $\boldsymbol{p\bar{p}\rightarrow W+X \rightarrow eν+X}$ decays in $\boldsymbol{p\bar{p}}$ collisions at $\boldsymbol{\sqrt{s}=1.96}$ TeV

We present a measurement of the electron charge asymmetry in $p\bar{p}\rightarrow W+X \rightarrow eν+X$ events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to 9.7~fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The asymmetry is measured as a function of the electron pseudorapidity and is presented in five kinematic bins based on the electron transverse energy and the missing transverse energy in the event. The measured asymmetry is compared with next-to-leading-order predictions in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and provides accurate information for the determination of parton distribution functions of the proton. This is the most precise lepton charge asymmetry measurement to date.

Measurement of the $ϕ^*_η$ distribution of muon pairs with masses between 30 and 500 GeV in 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collisions

We present a measurement of the distribution of the variable $ϕ^*_η$ for muon pairs with masses between 30 and 500 GeV, using the complete Run II data set collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton collider. This corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96 TeV. The data are corrected for detector effects and presented in bins of dimuon rapidity and mass. The variable $ϕ^*_η$ probes the same physical effects as the $Z/γ^*$ boson transverse momentum, but is less susceptible to the effects of experimental resolution and efficiency. These are the first measurements at any collider of the $ϕ^*_η$ distributions for dilepton masses away from the $Z\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^-$ boson mass peak. The data are compared to QCD predictions based on the resummation of multiple soft gluons.

Measurement of the $W+b$-jet and $W+c$-jet differential production cross sections in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV

We present a measurement of the cross sections for the associated production of a $W$ boson with at least one heavy quark jet, $b$ or $c$, in proton-antiproton collisions. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb$^{-1}$ recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron \ppbar Collider at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV are used to measure the cross sections differentially as a function of the jet transverse momenta in the range 20 to 150 GeV. These results are compared to calculations of perturbative QCD theory as well as predictions from Monte Carlo generators.

Measurement of the $B_s^0$ lifetime in the flavor-specific decay channel $B_s^0 \to D_s^- μ^+νX$

We present an updated measurement of the $B_s^0$ lifetime from the D0 collaboration using the semileptonic decays $B_s^0\rightarrow D_s^-μ^+νX$, with $D_s^- \to ϕπ^-$ and $ϕ\to K^+K^-$ (and the charge conjugate process). This measurement uses the full Tevatron Run II sample of proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$~TeV, comprising an integrated luminosity of 10.4~fb$^{-1}$. We find a flavor-specific lifetime $τ_{\mathrm{fs}}(B_s^0)=1.479\pm0.010\thinspace{\rm(stat)}\pm0.021\thinspace{\rm(syst)}\thinspace\rm{ps}$. This technique is also used to determine the $B^0$ lifetime using the analogous $B^0\to D^-μ^+νX$ decay with $D^-\toϕπ^-$, yielding $τ(B^0)=1.534\pm0.019\thinspace{\rm(stat)}\pm0.021\thinspace{\rm(syst)}\thinspace\rm{ps}$. Both measurements are consistent with the current world averages, and the $B_s^0$ lifetime measurement is one of the most precise to date. Taking advantage of the cancellation of systematic uncertainties, we determine the lifetime ratio $τ_{\mathrm{fs}}(B_s^0)/τ(B^0) = 0.964\pm0.013\thinspace{\rm(stat)}\pm0.007\thinspace{\rm(syst)}$.

Measurement of the Forward-Backward Asymmetry in the Production of $B^{\pm}$ Mesons in $p\bar{p}$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96 TeV

We present a measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry in the production of $B^{\pm}$ mesons, $A_{\rm FB}(B^{\pm})$, using $B^{\pm} \rightarrow J/ψK^{\pm}$ decays in 10.4 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV collected by the D0 experiment during Run II of the Tevatron collider. A nonzero asymmetry would indicate a preference for a particular flavor, i.e., $b$ quark or $\bar{b}$ antiquark, to be produced in the direction of the proton beam. We extract $A_{\rm FB}(B^{\pm})$ from a maximum likelihood fit to the difference between forward- and backward-produced $B^{\pm}$ mesons. We measure an asymmetry consistent with zero: $A_{\rm FB}(B^{\pm})$ = [$-$0.24 $\pm$ 0.41 (stat) $\pm$ 0.19 (syst)]%.
