Hardy spaces $H^p$ over non-homogeneous metric measure spaces and their applications

Let $({\mathcal X},d,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying both the geometrically doubling and the upper doubling conditions. Let $ρ\in (1,\infty)$, $0<p\le1\le q\le\infty$, $p\neq q$, $γ\in[1,\infty)$ and $ε\in(0,\infty)$. In this article, the authors introduce the atomic Hardy space ${\widetilde H_{\mathrm{atb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ}(μ)}$ and the molecular Hardy space ${\widetilde H_{\rm{mb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ,\,ε}(μ)}$ via the discrete coefficient $\widetilde{K}^{(ρ),\,p}_{B,\,S}$, and prove that the Calderón-Zygmund operator is bounded from ${\widetilde H_{\rm{mb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ,\,δ}(μ)}$ (or ${\widetilde H_{\rm{atb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ}(μ)}$) into $L^p(μ)$, and from ${\widetilde H_{\rm{atb},\,ρ(ρ+1)}^{p,\,q,\,γ+1}(μ)}$ into ${\widetilde H_{\rm{mb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ,\,\frac12(δ-\fracν{p}+ν)}(μ)}$ whose genealized fractional versions are also obtained. The authors also introduce the $ρ$-weakly doubling condition, with $ρ\in (1,\infty)$, of the measure $μ$ and construct a non-doubling measure $μ$ satisfying this condition. If $μ$ is $ρ$-weakly doubling, the authors further introduce the Campanato space ${\mathcal E}^{α,\,q}_{ρ,\,η,\,γ}(μ)$ and show that ${\mathcal E}^{α,\,q}_{ρ,\,η,\,γ}(μ)$ is independent of the choices of $ρ$, $η$, $γ$ and $q$; the authors then introduce the atomic Hardy space $\widehat H_{\rm{atb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ}(μ)$ and the molecular Hardy space $\widehat H_{\rm{mb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ,\,ε}(μ)$, which coincide with each other; the authors finally prove that $\widehat{H}_{\rm{atb},\,ρ}^{p,\,q,\,γ}(μ)$ is the predual of ${\mathcal E}^{1/p-1,\,1}_{ρ,\,ρ,\,1}(μ)$. Moreover, relations of these Hardy spaces are also discussed.

Hajlasz Gradients Are Upper Gradients

Let $(X, d, μ)$ be a metric measure space, with $μ$ a Borel regular measure. In this paper, we prove that, if $u\in L^1_{\mathop\mathrm{\,loc\,}}(X)$ and $g$ is a Hajłasz gradient of $u$, then there exists $\widetilde u$ such that $\widetilde u=u$ almost everywhere and $4g$ is a $p$-weak upper gradient of $\widetilde u$. This result avoids a priori assumption on the quasi-continuity of $u$ used in [Rev. Mat. Iberoamericana 16 (2000), 243-279]. As an application, an embedding of the Morrey-type function spaces based on Hajłasz-gradients into the corresponding function spaces based on upper gradients is obtained. We also introduce the notion of local Hajłasz gradient, and investigate the relations between local Hajłasz gradient and upper gradient.

Weak Hardy Spaces $WH_L^p({\mathbb R}^n)$ Associated to Operators Satisfying $k$-Davies-Gaffney Estimates

Let $L$ be a one-to-one operator of type $ω$ having a bounded $H_\infty$ functional calculus and satisfying the $k$-Davies-Gaffney estimates with $k\in{\mathbb N}$. In this paper, the authors introduce the weak Hardy space $WH_L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ associated to $L$ for $p\in (0,\,1]$ via the non-tangential square function $S_L$ and establish a weak molecular characterization of $WH_L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Typical examples of such operators include the $2k$-order divergence form homogeneous elliptic operator $L_1:=(-1)^k\sum_{|α|=k=|β|}\partial^β(a_{α,β}\partial^α)$, where $\{a_{α,β}\}_{|α|=k=|β|}$ are complex bounded measurable functions, and the $2k$-order Schrödinger type operator $L_2:= (-Δ)^k+V^k$, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator and $0\le V\in L^k_{\mathop\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. As applications, for $i\in\{1,\,2\}$ and $p\in(\frac{n}{n+k},\,1]$, the authors prove that the associated Riesz transform $\nabla^k (L_i^{-1/2})$ is bounded from $WH^p_{L_i}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ to the classical weak Hardy space $WH^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and, for all $0<p<r\le1$ and $α=n(\frac{1}{p}-\frac{1}{r})$, the fractional power $L_i^{-\fracα{2k}}$ is bounded from $WH_{L_i}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ to $WH_{L_i}^r(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Furthermore, the authors find the dual space of $WH_L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for $p\in(0,\,1]$, which can be defined via mean oscillations based on some subtle coverings of bounded open sets and, even when $L:=-Δ$, are also previously unknown. In particular, if $L$ is a nonnegative self-adjoint operator in $L^2({\mathbb R}^n)$ satisfying the Davies-Gaffney estimates, the authors further establish the weak atomic characterization of $WH_L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Riesz Transform Characterizations of Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy Spaces

Let $φ$ be a Musielak-Orlicz function satisfying that, for any $(x,\,t)\in\mathbb{R}^n\times(0,\,\infty)$, $φ(\cdot,\,t)$ belongs to the Muckenhoupt weight class $A_\infty (\mathbb{R}^n)$ with the critical weight exponent $q(φ)\in[1,\,\infty)$ and $φ(x,\,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function with $0 \frac{n-1}{n}$, and via all the Riesz transforms with the order not more than $m\in\mathbb{N}$ when $\frac{i(φ)}{q(φ)}>\frac{n-1}{n+m-1}$. Moreover, the authors also establish the Riesz transform characterizations of $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$, respectively, by means of the higher order Riesz transforms defined via the homogenous harmonic polynomials or the odd order Riesz transforms. Even if when $φ(x,t):=tw(x)$ for all $x\in{\mathbb R}^n$ and $t\in [0,\infty)$, these results also widen the range of weights in the known Riesz characterization of the classical weighted Hardy space $H^1_w({\mathbb R}^n)$ obtained by R. L. Wheeden from $w\in A_1({\mathbb R}^n)$ into $w\in A_\infty({\mathbb R}^n)$ with the sharp range $q(w)\in [1,\frac n{n-1})$, where $q(w)$ denotes the critical index of the weight $w$.

Intrinsic Square Function Characterizations of Hardy Spaces with Variable Exponents

Let $p(\cdot):\ \mathbb R^n\to(0,\infty)$ be a measurable function satisfying some decay condition and some locally log-Hölder continuity. In this article, via first establishing characterizations of the variable exponent Hardy space $H^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)$ in terms of the Littlewood-Paley $g$-function, the Lusin area function and the $g_λ^\ast$-function, the authors then obtain its intrinsic square function characterizations including the intrinsic Littlewood-Paley $g$-function, the intrinsic Lusin area function and the intrinsic $g_λ^\ast$-function. The $p(\cdot)$-Carleson measure characterization for the dual space of $H^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)$, the variable exponent Campanato space $\mathcal{L}_{1,p(\cdot),s}(\mathbb R^n)$, in terms of the intrinsic function is also presented.

Towards spaces of harmonic functions with traces in square Campanato space and its scaling invariant

For $n\ge 1$ and $α\in (-1,1)$, let $H^{α,2}$ be the space of harmonic functions $u$ on the upper half space $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}_+$ satisfying $$\displaystyle\sup_{(x_0,r)\in \mathbb R^{n+1}_+}r^{-(2α+n)}\int_{B(x_0,r)}\int_0^r|\nabla_{x,t} u(x,t)|^2t\,dt\,dx<\infty,$$ and $\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}$ be the Campanato space on $\mathbb R^n$. We show that $H^{α,2}$ coincide with $e^{-t\sqrt{-Δ}}\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}$ for all $α\in (-1,1)$, where the case $α\in [0,1)$ was originally discovered by Fabes, Johnson and Neri [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 25 (1976), 159-170] and yet the case $α\in (-1,0)$ was left open. Moreover, for the scaling invariant version of $H^{α,2}$, $\mathcal{H}^{α,2}$, which comprises all harmonic functions $u$ on $\mathbb R^{n+1}_+$ satisfying $$\sup_{(x_0,r)\in\mathbb R^{n+1}_+}r^{-(2α+n)}\int_{B(x_0,r)} \int_0^r|\nabla_{x,t} u(x,t)|^2\,t^{1+2α} \,dt\,dx<\infty,$$ we show that $\mathcal{H}^{α,2}=e^{-t\sqrt{-Δ}}(-Δ)^\fracα{2}\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}$, where $(-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}$ is the collection of all functions $f$ such that $(-Δ)^{-\fracα{2}}f$ are in $\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}$. Analogues for solutions to the heat equation are also established. As an application, we show that the spaces $\big((-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}\mathcal{L}_{2,n+2α}\big)^{-1}$ unify $Q_α^{-1}$, ${\mathrm{BMO}}^{-1}$ and $\dot{B}^{-1,\infty}_\infty$ naturally.

Lusin Area Function and Molecular Characterizations of Musielak-Orlicz Hardy Spaces and Their Applications

Lusin Area Function and Molecular Characterizations of Musielak-Orlicz Hardy Spaces and Their ApplicationsLet $φ: \mathbb R^n\times [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a growth function such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is nondecreasing, $φ(x,0)=0$, $φ(x,t)>0$ when $t>0$, $\lim_{t\to\infty}φ(x,t)=\infty$, and $φ(\cdot,t)$ is a Muckenhoupt $A_\infty(\mathbb{R}^n)$ weight uniformly in $t$. In this paper, the authors establish the Lusin area function and the molecular characterizations of the Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ introduced by Luong Dang Ky via the grand maximal function. As an application, the authors obtain the $φ$-Carleson measure characterization of the Musielak-Orlicz ${\mathop\mathrm{BMO}}$-type space $\mathop\mathrm{BMO}_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$, which was proved to be the dual space of $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ by Luong Dang Ky.

A new framework for generalized Besov-type and Triebel-Lizorkin-type spaces

In this paper, the authors propose a new framework under which a theory of generalized Besov-type and Triebel-Lizorkin-type function spaces is developed. Many function spaces appearing in harmonic analysis fall under the scope of this new framework. Among others, the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator or the related vector-valued maximal function on any of these function spaces is not required to construct these generalized scales of smoothness spaces. Instead of this, a key idea used in this framework is an application of the Peetre maximal function. This idea originates from recent findings in the abstract coorbit space theory obtained by Holger Rauhut and Tino Ullrich. Under this new setting, the authors establish the boundedness of pseudo-differential operators based on atomic and molecular characterizations and also the boundedness of the Fourier multipliers. The characterizations of these function spaces by means of differences and oscillations are also established. As further applications of this new framework, the authors reexamine and polish some existing results for many different scales of function spaces.

Musielak-Orlicz Campanato Spaces and Applications

Let $φ: \mathbb R^n\times [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function and $φ(\cdot,t)$ is a Muckenhoupt $A_\infty(\mathbb R^n)$ weight uniformly in $t$. In this article, the authors introduce the Musielak-Orlicz Campanato space ${\mathcal L}_{φ,q,s}({\mathbb R}^n)$ and, as an application, prove that some of them is the dual space of the Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space $H^φ(\mathbb R^n)$, which in the case when $q=1$ and $s=0$ was obtained by L. D. Ky [arXiv: 1105.0486]. The authors also establish a John-Nirenberg inequality for functions in ${\mathcal L}_{φ,1,s}({\mathbb R}^n)$ and, as an application, the authors also obtain several equivalent characterizations of ${\mathcal L}_{φ,q,s}({\mathbb R}^n)$, which, in return, further induce the $φ$-Carleson measure characterization of ${\mathcal L}_{φ,1,s}({\mathbb R}^n)$.

Musielak-Orlicz BMO-Type Spaces Associated with Generalized Approximations to the Identity

Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a space of homogenous type and $φ:\ \mathcal{X}\times[0,\infty) \to[0,\infty)$ a growth function such that $φ(\cdot,t)$ is a Muckenhoupt weight uniformly in $t$ and $φ(x,\cdot)$ an Orlicz function of uniformly upper type 1 and lower type $p\in(0,1]$. In this article, the authors introduce a new Musielak-Orlicz BMO-type space $\mathrm{BMO}^φ_A(\mathcal{X})$ associated with the generalized approximation to the identity, give out its basic properties and establish its two equivalent characterizations, respectively, in terms of the spaces $\mathrm{BMO}^φ_{A,\,\mathrm{max}}(\mathcal{X})$ and $\widetilde{\mathrm{BMO}}^φ_A(\mathcal{X})$. Moreover, two variants of the John-Nirenberg inequality on $\mathrm{BMO}^φ_A(\mathcal{X})$ are obtained. As an application, the authors further prove that the space $\mathrm{BMO}^φ_{\sqrtΔ}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, associated with the Poisson semigroup of the Laplace operator $Δ$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$, coincides with the space $\mathrm{BMO}^φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ introduced by L. D. Ky.

Generalized Fractional Integrals and Their Commutators over Non-homogeneous Metric Measure Spaces

Let $({\mathcal X},d,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying both the upper doubling and the geometrically doubling conditions. In this paper, the authors establish some equivalent characterizations for the boundedness of fractional integrals over $({\mathcal X},d,μ)$. The authors also prove that multilinear commutators of fractional integrals with ${\mathop\mathrm{\,RBMO(μ)}}$ functions are bounded on Orlicz spaces over $({\mathcal X},d,μ)$, which include Lebesgue spaces as special cases. The weak type endpoint estimates for multilinear commutators of fractional integrals with functions in the Orlicz-type space ${\mathrm{Osc}_{\exp L^r}(μ)}$, where $r\in [1,\infty)$, are also presented. Finally, all these results are applied to a specific example of fractional integrals over non-homogeneous metric measure spaces.

Morrey-Sobolev Spaces on Metric Measure Spaces

In this article, the authors introduce the Newton-Morrey-Sobolev space on a metric measure space $(\mathscr{X},d,μ)$. The embedding of the Newton-Morrey-Sobolev space into the Hölder space is obtained if $\mathscr{X}$ supports a weak Poincaré inequality and the measure $μ$ is doubling and satisfies a lower bounded condition. Moreover, in the Ahlfors $Q$-regular case, a Rellich-Kondrachov type embedding theorem is also obtained. Using the Hajłasz gradient, the authors also introduce the Hajłasz-Morrey-Sobolev spaces, and prove that the Newton-Morrey-Sobolev space coincides with the Hajłasz-Morrey-Sobolev space when $μ$ is doubling and $\mathscr{X}$ supports a weak Poincaré inequality. In particular, on the Euclidean space ${\mathbb R}^n$, the authors obtain the coincidence among the Newton-Morrey-Sobolev space, the Hajłasz-Morrey-Sobolev space and the classical Morrey-Sobolev space. Finally, when $(\mathscr{X},d)$ is geometrically doubling and $μ$ a non-negative Radon measure, the boundedness of some modified (fractional) maximal operators on modified Morrey spaces is presented; as an application, when $μ$ is doubling and satisfies some measure decay property, the authors further obtain the boundedness of some (fractional) maximal operators on Morrey spaces, Newton-Morrey-Sobolev spaces and Hajłasz-Morrey-Sobolev spaces.

Boundedness of Intrinsic Littlewood-Paley Functions on Musielak-Orlicz Morrey and Campanato Spaces

Let $ϕ: [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be nondecreasing. In this article, the authors introduce the Musielak-Orlicz Morrey space $\mathcal M^{φ,ϕ}(\mathbb R^n)$ and obtain the boundedness on $\mathcal M^{φ,ϕ}(\mathbb R^n)$ of the intrinsic Lusin area function $S_α$, the intrinsic $g$-function $g_α$, the intrinsic $g_λ^*$-function $g^\ast_{λ, α}$ and their commutators with ${\rm BMO}(\rn)$ functions, where $α\in(0,1]$, $λ\in(\min\{\max\{3,\,p_1\},3+2\az/n\},\infty)$ and $p_1$ denotes the uniformly upper type index of $\vz$. Let $Φ: [0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be nondecreasing, $Φ(0)=0$, $Φ(t)>0$ when $t>0$, and $\lim_{t\to\infty}Φ(t)=\infty$, $w\in A_\infty(\mathbb R^n)$ and $ϕ: (0,\infty)\to(0,\infty)$ be nonincreasing. Boundedness of Maximal Calderón-Zygmund Operators on Non-homogeneous Metric Measure Spaces

Let $(\cx,\,d,\,μ)$ be a metric measure space and satisfy the so-called upper doubling condition and the geometrically doubling condition. In this paper, the authors show that for the maximal Calderón-Zygmund operator associated with a singular integral whose kernel satisfies the standard size condition and the Hörmander condition, its $L^p(μ)$ boundedness with $p\in(1,\infty)$ is equivalent to its boundedness from $L^1(μ)$ into $L^{1,\infty}(μ)$. Moreover, applying this, together with a new Cotlar type inequality, the authors show that if the Calderón-Zygmund operator $T$ is bounded on $L^2(μ)$, then the corresponding maximal Calderón-Zygmund is bounded on $L^p(μ)$ for all $p\in(1,\infty)$, and bounded from $L^1(μ)$ into $L^{1,\infty}(μ)$. These results essentially improve the existing results.

Equivalent boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integrals on non-homogeneous metric measure spaces

Let $({\mathcal X},\,d,\,μ)$ be a metric measure space satisfying the upper doubling condition and the geometrically doubling condition in the sense of T. Hytönen. In this paper, the authors prove that the $L^p(μ)$ boundedness with $p\in(1,\,\infty)$ of the Marcinkiewicz integral is equivalent to either of its boundedness from $L^1(μ)$ into $L^{1,\infty}(μ)$ or from the atomic Hardy space $H^1(μ)$ into $L^1(μ)$. Moreover, the authors show that, if the Marcinkiewicz integral is bounded from $H^1(μ)$ into $L^1(μ)$, then it is also bounded from $L^\infty(μ)$ into the space ${\mathop\mathrm{RBLO}}(μ)$ (the regularized {\rm BLO}), which is a proper subset of ${\rm RBMO}(μ)$ (the regularized {\rm BMO}) and, conversely, if the Marcinkiewicz integral is bounded from $L_b^\infty(μ)$ (the set of all $L^\infty(μ)$ functions with bounded support) into the space ${\rm RBMO}(μ)$, then it is also bounded from the finite atomic Hardy space $H_{\rm fin}^{1,\,\infty}(μ)$ into $L^1(μ)$. These results essentially improve the known results even for non-doubling measures.

Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy Spaces Associated with Operators Satisfying Reinforced Off-Diagonal Estimates

Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a metric space with doubling measure and $L$ a one-to-one operator of type $ω$ having a bounded $H_\infty$-functional calculus in $L^2(\mathcal{X})$ satisfying the reinforced $(p_L, q_L)$ off-diagonal estimates on balls, where $p_L\in[1,2)$ and $q_L\in(2,\infty]$. Let $φ:\,\mathcal{X}\times[0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)$ be a function such that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function, $φ(\cdot,t)\in {\mathbb A}_{\infty}(\mathcal{X})$ (the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights), its uniformly critical upper type index $I(φ)\in(0,1]$ and $φ(\cdot,t)$ satisfies the uniformly reverse Hölder inequality of order $(q_L/I(φ))'$. In this paper, the authors introduce a Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathcal{X})$, via the Lusin-area function associated with $L$, and establish its molecular characterization. In particular, when $L$ is nonnegative self-adjoint and satisfies the Davies-Gaffney estimates, the atomic characterization of $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathcal{X})$ is also obtained. Furthermore, a sufficient condition for the equivalence between $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and the classical Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ is given. Moreover, for the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ associated with the second order elliptic operator in divergence form on $\rn$ or the Schrödinger operator $L:=-Δ+V$ with $0\le V\in L^1_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, the authors further obtain its several equivalent characterizations in terms of various non-tangential and radial maximal functions; finally, the authors discuss the boundedness of the Riesz transform $\nabla L^{-1/2}$.
