Sum rule for the partial decay rates of bottom hadrons based on the dynamical supersymmetry of the $\bar s$ quark and the $ud$ diquark

We investigate the weak decays of $\bar B_{s}^{0}$ and $Λ_{b}$ to charm hadrons based on the dynamical supersymmetry between the $\bar s$ quark and the $ud$ diquark. We derive a new sum rule relating the decay rates of the processes $\bar B_{s}^{0} \to D_{s}^{+} P^{-}$, $\bar B_{s}^{0} \to D_{s}^{*+} P^{-}$ and $Λ_{b} \to Λ_{c} P^{-}$, where $P^{-}$ is a negatively charged meson, such as $π^{-}$ and $K^{-}$. It is found that the observed decay rates satisfy the sum rule very well. This implies that the supersymmetry between the $\bar s$ quark and the $ud$ diquark is also seen in the wavefunctions of the heavy hadrons and suggests that the $ud$ diquark can be regarded as a valid effective constituent for heavy hadrons.

$K^- d\rightarrow πΛN$ reaction for studying charge symmetry breaking in the $ΛN$ interaction

We discuss charge symmetry breaking in the $ΛN$ interaction. In order to investigate the $Λp$ and $Λn$ interactions at low energies, we propose to utilize the $K^-d\to π^-Λp$ and $K^-d\to π^0Λn$ reactions. They are symmetric under the exchange of both the pion and nucleon isospin partners in the final states. This advantage allows us to study charge symmetry breaking in the $ΛN$ interaction. We calculate the differential cross sections of these reactions with stopped kaons theoretically and discuss the possibility to extract the scattering length and effective range of the $ΛN$ scattering. With stopped kaons, the $ΛN$ interaction takes place dominantly in the spin-triplet state thanks to the deuteron spin and $s$-wave dominance of the scattering amplitudes at the low energy. We find that the ratio of the differential cross sections as a function of the $ΛN$ invariant mass between the two reactions is useful for revealing how charge symmetry breaking, or isospin symmetry breaking appears in the low-energy $ΛN$ scattering.

Systematic study of hadronic excitation energy using Schottky anomaly

We extract the excitation energy scales of the hadron spectra in a less model-dependent method using Schottky anomaly. Schottky anomaly is a thermodynamical phenomenon that the specific heat of a system consisting of a finite number of energy levels has a peak at finite temperature due to the energy gaps. Using the masses of all hadrons that are experimentally established, we obtain the excitation energy scales of the hadron spectra and investigate their flavor dependence.

Density dependence of the quark condensate in isospin-asymmetric nuclear matter

We compute the density dependence of the quark condensate and how it changes under the influence of isospin-asymmetric nuclear matter. This is achieved by the calculation of the relevant Feynman diagrams using in-medium chiral perturbation theory. We find that the absolute value of the quark condensate decreases in nuclear matter by around 35% at normal nuclear density, in agreement with previous model-independent calculations. We also present an quantitative estimation of the difference of up- and down quark in-medium condensates.

Survival probabilities of charmonia as a clue to measure transient magnetic fields

We investigate time evolution of $S$-wave charmonium populations under a time-dependent homogeneous magnetic field and evaluate survival probabilities of the low-lying charmonia to the goal of estimating the magnetic field strength at heavy-ion collisions. Our approach implements mixing between different spin eigenstates and transitions to radially excited states. We show that the survival probabilities can change even by an extremely short magnetic field. Furthermore, we find that the survival probabilities depend on the initial spin states. We propose the sum of the survival probabilities over spin partners as an observable insensitive to the initial states. We also find that the sum can be approximately given as a function of $σB_0^2$ with a duration time $σ$ and the maximum strength of the magnetic field $B_0$.

Role of U$_{A}$(1) breaking term in dynamical chiral symmetry breaking of chiral effective theories

The spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry is examined by chiral effective theories, such as the linear sigma model and the Nambu Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. Indicating that sufficiently large contribution of the UA(1) anomaly can break chiral symmetry spontaneously, we discuss such anomaly driven symmetry breaking and its implication. We derive a mass relation among the SU(3) flavor singlet mesons, eta0 and sigma0, in the linear sigma model to be satisfied for the anomaly driven symmetry breaking in the chiral limit, and find that it is also supported in the NJL model. With the explicit breaking of chiral symmetry, we find that the chiral effective models reproducing the observed physical quantities suggest that the sigma0 meson regarded as the quantum fluctuation of the chiral condensate should have a mass smaller than an order of 800 MeV when the anomaly driven symmetry breaking takes place.

Structure of double pionic atoms

We study theoretically the structure of double pionic atoms, in which two negatively charged pions ($π^-$) are bound in the atomic orbits. The double pionic atom is considered to be an interesting system from the point of view of the multi bosonic systems. In addition, it could be possible to deduce valuable information on the isospin $I = 2$ $ππ$ interaction and the pion-nucleus strong interaction. In this paper, we take into account the $ππ$ strong and electromagnetic interactions, and evaluate the effects on the binding energies by perturbation theory for the double pionic atoms in heavy nuclei. We investigate several combinations of two pionic states and find that the order of magnitude of the energy shifts due to the $ππ$ interaction is around 10 keV for the strong interaction and around 100 keV for the electromagnetic interaction for the ground states.

Inverse Mass Hierarchy of Light Scalar Mesons Driven by Anomaly-Induced Flavor Breaking

We propose a novel mechanism to reproduce the observed mass hierarchy for the scalar mesons lighter than 1 GeV (called the inverse hierarchy) regarding them as mesons made of a quark and an anti-quark ($q\bar{q}$ mesons). The source is provided by the SU(3)-flavor symmetry-breaking induced by U(1) axial anomaly. In particular, the anomaly term including the explicit-chiral symmetry-breaking plays a significant role for the light scalar meson spectrum. To be concrete, we construct a linear sigma model for the scalar mesons of $q\bar{q}$ type together with their pseudoscalar chiral partners, including an anomaly-induced explicit-chiral symmetry-breaking term. We find that, due to the proposed mechanism, the inverse hierarchy, i.e., $m\left[ a_0 (980) \right] \simeq m\left[ f_0 (980) \right] > m \left[ K_0^\ast (700) \right] > m \left[ f_0(500) \right]$ is indeed realized. Consequently, the quark content of $f_0 (500)$ is dominated by the isoscalar $\bar uu+ \bar dd$ component, and $f_0 (980)$ is by the strange quark bilinear's, $s\bar{s}$.

Dynamical supersymmetry for strange quark and $ud$ antidiquark in hadron mass spectrum

Speculating that the $ud$ diquark with spin 0 has a similar mass to the constituent $s$ quark, we introduce a symmetry between the $s$ quark and the $\overline{ud}$ diquark. Constructing an algebra for this symmetry, we regard a triplet of the $s$ quarks with spin up and down and the $\overline{ud}$ diquark with spin 0 as a fundamental representation of this algebra. We further build higher representations constructed by direct products of the fundamental representations. We propose assignments of hadrons to the multiples of this algebra. We find in particular that $\{D_{s}, D_{s}^{*}, Λ_{c}\}$, $\{η_{s}, ϕ, Λ, f_{0}(1370)\}$ and $\{Ω_{c}, T_{sc}\}$ form a triplet, a nonet and a quintet, respectively, where $T_{sc}$ is a genuine tetraquark meson composed of $\overline{ud}sc$. We also find a mass relation between them by introducing the symmetry breaking due to the mass difference between the $s$ quark and the $\overline{ud}$ diquark. The masses of possible tetraquarks $\overline{ud}sc$ and $\overline{ud}sb$ are estimated from the symmetry breaking and the masses of $Ω_{c}$ and $Ω_{b}$ to be 2.942 GeV and 6.261 GeV, respectively.

Origin of energy shift in kaonic atom and kaon-nucleus interaction

The $K^-$-nucleus optical potential is revisited to investigate its global feature phenomenologically. It is a puzzle that the energy shift is found to be repulsive in all of the observed kaonic atom, although the $K^-N$ interaction is known to be so attractive as to form the $Λ(1405)$ resonance. To solve this puzzle, we examine the $K^-$ optical potential in the linear density approximation and determine the potential parameters of each kaonic atom so as to reproduce the observed energy shift and absorption width. We find two types of the potentials. One potential has a so large real part as to provide nuclear states with the same quantum number to the atomic state in the last orbit. The level repulsion between the atomic state and the nuclear states takes place due to their mixing, and it makes the atomic state shifted repulsively. The other type of the potential has a large imaginary part and the imaginary part works repulsively for atomic states. We find that only the latter solution reproduce a wide of the observed data, and thus is realized as a $K^-$-nucleus potential for kaonic atom. In the linear nuclear density optical potential, the picture that the repulsive shifts in the atomic states stem from the existence of the nuclear states does not globally stand up. This implies that the $K^-$-nucleus optical potential should have a large imaginary part. We examine some nonlinear density effects and find that the conclusion does not change. We also confirm that the conventionally known optical potentials are categorized into the latter type of the potential.

Structure of eta' mesonic nuclei in a relativistic mean field theory

The structure and the energy spectrum of the $η^{\prime}$ mesonic nuclei are investigated in a relativistic mean field theory. One expects a substantial attraction for the $η^{\prime}$ meson in finite nuclei due to the partial restoration of chiral symmetry in the nuclear medium. Such a hadronic scale interaction for the $η^{\prime}$ mesonic nuclei may provide modification of the nuclear structure. The relativistic mean field theory is a self-contained model for finite nuclei which provides the saturation property within the model, and is good to investigate the structure change of the nucleus induced by the $η^{\prime}$ meson. Using the local density approximation for the mean fields, we solve the equations of motion for the nucleons and the $η^{\prime}$ meson self-consistently, and obtain the nuclear density distribution and the $η^{\prime}$ energy spectrum for the $η^{\prime}$ mesonic nuclei. We take $^{12}$C, $^{16}$O and $^{40}$Ca for the target nuclei. We find several bound states of the $η^{\prime}$ meson for these nuclei thanks to the attraction for $η^{\prime}$ in nuclei. We also find a sufficient change of the nuclear structure especially for the $1s$ bound state of $η^{\prime}$. This implies that the production of the $1s$ bound state in nuclear reaction may be suppressed.

KN scattering amplitude revisited in a chiral unitary approach and a possible broad resonance in S=+1 channel

We revisit the $KN$ scattering amplitude in order to investigate the possibility for the existence of a broad resonance in the $I=0$ $KN$ channel around the energy of 1617 MeV with 305 MeV width. We use the chiral unitary model to describe the $KN$ scattering amplitudes and determine the model parameters so as to reproduce the differential cross sections of the $K^{+}N$ scatterings and the $I=0$ and 1 total cross sections up to $p_{lab} = 800$ MeV/c, from which inelastic contributions start to be significant. Performing analytic continuation of the determined amplitude to the complex energy plane, we find a pole for a broad resonance state. We point out that the rapid increase appearing in the $I=0$ total cross section around $p_{lab}=500$ MeV/c is a hint of the possible broad resonance of strangeness $S=+1$.

Further signatures to support the tetraquark mixing framework for the two light-meson nonets

In this work, we investigate additional signatures to support the tetraquark mixing framework that has been recently proposed as a possible structure for the two nonets, namely $a_0 (980)$, $K_0^* (800)$, $f_0 (500)$, $f_0 (980)$ in the light nonet, $a_0 (1450)$, $K_0^* (1430)$, $f_0 (1370)$, $f_0 (1500)$ in the heavy nonet. First, we advocate that the two nonets form the flavor nonet approximately satisfying the Gell-Mann--Okubo mass relation. Then we reexamine the mass ordering generated from the tetraquark nonets and show that this mass ordering is satisfied by the two nonets although the ordering in the heavy nonet is marginal. The marginal mass ordering however can be regarded as another signature for tetraquarks because it can be explained partially by the hyperfine masses calculated from the tetraquark mixing framework. The tetraquark mixing parameters are found to be independent of isospins giving additional support for the formation of the flavor nonets. In addition, we discuss the other approaches like two-quark pictures or meson-meson bound states, and their possible limitations in explaining the two nonets. As a peculiar signature distinguished from other approaches, we investigate the fall-apart coupling strengths into two vector mesons from our tetraquarks. Coupling strengths into the two-vector modes are found to enhance strongly in the heavy nonet while they are suppressed in the light nonet. The coupling ratios, which depend on the isospin channel, are found to be huge around $\sim 15$. This trend in the two-vector modes, which is opposite to that in the two-pseudoscalar fall-apart modes, can provide another testing ground for the tetraquark mixing framework. Some experimental evidences related to the phenomena are discussed particularly from the resonances belonging to the heavy nonet.

$K^+$-nucleus elastic scattering revisited from perspective of partial restoration of chiral symmetry

The $K^{+}$ meson properties in the nuclear medium are investigated by considering the wavefunction renormalization as a first step to reveal the in-medium properties of the $K^{+}$ meson in the context of partial restoration of chiral symmetry. The $K^{+}N$ elastic scattering amplitude is constructed using chiral perturbation theory up to the next-to-leading order. Using the constructed amplitude, we calculate the wavefunction renormalization in the Thomas-Fermi approximation. We obtained a good description of the $K^{+}N$ elastic scattering amplitude. The obtained wavefunction renormalization factor suggests the 2 to 6% enhancement of the $K^{+}N$ interaction at the saturation density. We conclude that the wavefunction renormalization could be one of the important medium effects for the $K^{+}$ meson.

Excitation energy spectra of the Lambda_c and Lambda_b baryons in a finite-size diquark model

The excitation energies of the $Λ_{c}$ and $Λ_{b}$ baryons are investigated in a finite-size diquark potential model, in which the heavy baryons are treated as bound states of a charm quark and a scalar-isoscalar diquark. The diquark is considered as a sizable object. The quark-diquark interaction is calculated as a sum of the quark-quark interaction which is assumed to be half of the quark-antiquark interaction for the color singlet. The potential parameters in the quark-antiquark interaction are fixed so as to reproduce the charmonium spectrum. We find the diquark size to be 1.1 fm for the diquark mass 0.5 GeV/c$^{2}$ to reproduce the $1p$ excitation energy of $Λ_{c}$. In this model, the $Λ_{c}$ and $Λ_{b}$ excitation spectra are reproduced well, while this model does not explain $Λ_{c}(2765)$, whose isospin nor spin-parity are unknown yet. Thus, the detailed properties of $Λ_{c}(2765)$ is very important to the presence of the diquark in heavy baryons as a effective constituent. We also discuss the $Ξ_{c}$ spectrum with the scalar strange diquark.

Photoproduction of $Λ(1405)$ with the $N^*$ and $t$-channel Regge contributions

We investigate the photoproduction of $Λ(1405)\equivΛ^*$ hyperon resonance, i.e., $γp\to K^+Λ^*$, employing the effective Lagrangian approach with the $t$-channel Regge trajectories at tree level. We extensively explore the effects from the nucleon resonances in the vicinity of the threshold $\sqrt{s}_\mathrm{th}\approx1900$ MeV, i.e., $N(2000)$, $N(2030)$, $N(2055)$, $N(2095)$, and $N(2100)$, and observe that they are of great importance to reproduce the recent CLAS/Jlab experimental data. Total and differential cross sections are given as numerical results and compared with the experimental data, in addition to the $t$-channel momentum transfer and photon-beam asymmetry. The invariant-mass plots for $γp\to K^+π^0Σ^0$ via $Λ^*$ are also extracted from the two-body process results, showing a qualitative agreement with the data. We also discuss the constituent-counting rule for the internal structure of $Λ^*$, resulting in that $Λ^*$ appears to be different from a simple three-quark $(uds)$ state.

Two-body Wave Functions, Compositeness, And The Internal Structure Of Dynamically Generated Resonances

Recently, the compositeness, defined as the norm of a two-body wave function for bound and resonance states, has been investigated to discuss the internal structure of hadrons in terms of hadronic molecular components. From the studies of the compositeness, it has been clarified that the two-body wave function of a bound state can be extracted from the residue of the scattering amplitude at the bound state pole. Of special interest is that the two-body wave function from the scattering amplitude is automatically normalized. In particular, while the compositeness is unity for energy-independent interactions, it deviates from unity for energy-dependent interactions, which can be interpreted as a missing-channel contribution. In this manuscript, we show the formulation of the two-body wave function from the scattering amplitude, evaluate the compositeness for several dynamically generated resonances such as $f_{0} (980)$, $Λ(1405)$, and $Ξ(1690)$, and investigate their internal structure in terms of the hadronic molecular components.

Investigation of the $η'N$ system using the linear sigma model

In this paper, we investigate the $η'N$ system using the three-flavor linear sigma model including the effect of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. The $η'N$ bound state is also found in the case including flavor symmetry breaking and coupling with the $ηN$ and $πN$ channels. The $η'N$ interaction becomes more attractive with the inclusion of flavor symmetry breaking, which causes mixing between the singlet and octet scalar mesons. The existence of such a bound state would have some impact on the $η'$-nucleus system, which is of interest from both theoretical and experimental viewpoints.
