Keratoconus Recognition Using A Parameter Set Determined from IOP-Matched Scenario

PURPOSE: Among the current practices for keratoconus recognition using biomechanical parameters from Corvis ST, matching intra-ocular pressure (IOP) is often required to eliminate the biasing influence; as a result, the combined biomechanical parameters determined from IOP-unmatched scenario possibly bring in confounding influence. This paper was therefore designed to introduce a novel compatible parameter set (CPS) determined from IOP-matched scenario, hopefully could show its compatibility and superiority for recognizing keratoconus in both IOP-matched and not scenarios. METHODS: A total of 335 eyes were included. Among them, 70 eyes were used to determined CPS by forward logistics regression, 62 eyes were used to validate CPS in IOP-matched scenario, and resting 203 eyes were used to validate CPS in IOP-unmatched scenario. To analyze its superiority, CPS was also compared with other two reported Biomechanical Indexes (aCBI and DCR) in both scenarios. Receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC), accuracy, FI, sensitivity and specificity were used to access and compare the performance of these three parameter sets in both scenarios. RESULTS: The resulting CPS was comprised of only 3 biomechanical parameters: DA Ratio Max 1mm (DRM1), the first applanation time (AT1) and an energy loading parameter (Eload). In the IOP-matched validation, the area under ROC (AUC) reached 95.73%, with an accuracy of 95.2%, sensitivity of 93.5% and specificity of 96.8% (leave one out cross-validation). All these indicators reached 96.54%, 95.1%, 95.6% and 94.6% respectively, in the IOP-unmatched validation (leave one out cross-validation). Surprisingly, CPS performed better than other two parameter sets on a whole. CONCLUSIONS: The parameter set determined from IOP-matched scenario indeed exhibit its superiority for differentiation of keratoconus and normal corneas, regardless of IOP-matched or not.

Knowledge Graph Embedding with Entity Neighbors and Deep Memory Network

Knowledge Graph Embedding (KGE) aims to represent entities and relations of knowledge graph in a low-dimensional continuous vector space. Recent works focus on incorporating structural knowledge with additional information, such as entity descriptions, relation paths and so on. However, common used additional information usually contains plenty of noise, which makes it hard to learn valuable representation. In this paper, we propose a new kind of additional information, called entity neighbors, which contain both semantic and topological features about given entity. We then develop a deep memory network model to encode information from neighbors. Employing a gating mechanism, representations of structure and neighbors are integrated into a joint representation. The experimental results show that our model outperforms existing KGE methods utilizing entity descriptions and achieves state-of-the-art metrics on 4 datasets.

A MovingObject Index for Efficient Query Processing with Peer-Wise Location Privacy

With the growing use of location-based services, location privacy attracts increasing attention from users, industry, and the research community. While considerable effort has been devoted to inventing techniques that prevent service providers from knowing a user's exact location, relatively little attention has been paid to enabling so-called peer-wise privacy--the protection of a user's location from unauthorized peer users. This paper identifies an important efficiency problem in existing peer-privacy approaches that simply apply a filtering step to identify users that are located in a query range, but that do not want to disclose their location to the querying peer. To solve this problem, we propose a novel, privacy-policy enabled index called the PEB-tree that seamlessly integrates location proximity and policy compatibility. We propose efficient algorithms that use the PEB-tree for processing privacy-aware range and kNN queries. Extensive experiments suggest that the PEB-tree enables efficient query processing.

The first laws of thermodynamics of the (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black holes and Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes

We investigate the first law of thermodynamics in the case of the (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black holes and Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes, in particular, we focus on the integral mass formulas. It is found that by assuming the cosmological constant as a variable state parameter, both the differential and integral mass formulas of the first law of black hole thermodynamics in the asymptotic flat spacetimes can be directly extended to those of rotating black holes in anti-de Sitter and de Sitter backgrounds. It should be pointed that these formulas come into existence in any dimensions also.
