F-wave heavy-light meson spectroscopy in QCD sum rules and heavy quark effective theory

We study the F-wave c_bar s heavy meson doublets (2+,3+) and (3+,4+). They have large orbital excitations L=3, and may be good challenges (tests) for theoretical studies. To study them we use the method of QCD sum rule in the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Their masses are predicted to be m_{(2+,3+)} = (3.45 \pm 0.25, 3.50 \pm 0.26) GeV and m_{(3+,4+)} = (3.20 \pm 0.22, 3.26 \pm 0.23) GeV, with mass splittings Delta m_{(2+,3+)} = m_{3+} - m_{2+} = 0.046 \pm 0.030 GeV and Delta m_{(3+,4+)} = 0.053 \pm 0.044 GeV, respectively. We note that this is a pioneering work and these results are provisional.

K-pi interaction in finite volume and the K* resonance

We evaluate energy levels of the K-pi system in the K* channel in finite volume using chiral unitary theory. We use these energy levels to obtain K-pi phase shifts, and then obtain the K* mass and its decay width. We investigate their dependence on the pion mass and compare this with Lattice QCD calculations. We also compare our method with the standard Luscher approach, and solve the inverse problem to obtain the K-pi phase shifts from these "synthetic" lattice data.

The D-wave heavy-light mesons from QCD sum rules

We study the D-wave c_bar s heavy meson doublets (1^-,2^-) and (2^-,3^-) using the method of QCD sum rule in the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Choosing the same threshold values omega_c around 2.7 Gev, we calculate the masses of the 1^- and 3^- states. They are m_{D*_{s1}} = 2.81 \pm 0.10 GeV and m_{D*_{s3}} = 2.85 \pm 0.08 GeV, consistent with the newly observed D*_{s1}(2860) and D*_{s3}(2860) states by LHCb. The masses of their 2^- partners are calculated to be 2.82 \pm 0.10 and 2.81 \pm 0.08 GeV. The mass splittings within the same doublet are calculated to be m_{D_{s2}} - m_{D*_{s1}} = 0.016 \pm 0.007 GeV and m_{D*_{s3}} - m_{D'_{s2}} = 0.039 \pm 0.014 GeV.

Atomic-resolution TEM Studies of Pillar-Matrix Structures in Epitaxially Grown Ultrathin ZrO2-La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 Films

We studied ZrO2-La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 pillar matrix thin films which were found to show anomalous magnetic and electron transport properties controlled by the amount of ZrO2. With the application of an aberration corrected transmission electron microscope, structure and chemical information of the system, especially of the pillar matrix interface were revealed at atomic resolution. Minor amounts of Zr were found to occupy Mn positions within the matrix and its solubility within the matrix was found to be less than 6 mol%. Moreover, the Zr concentration reached minimum concentration at the pillar matrix interface accompanied by oxygen deficiency. La and Mn diffusion into the pillar was observed along with a change of the Mn valence state. La and Mn positions inside ZrO2 pillars were also revealed at atomic resolution. These results provide detailed information for future studies of macroscopic properties of these materials.
