Device-Independent Quantum Private Query Protocol without the Assumption of Perfect Detectors

The first device-independent quantum private query protocol (MRT17) which is proposed by Maitra \emph{et al.} [Phys. Rev. A 95, 042344 (2017)] to enhance the security through the certification of the states and measurements. However, the MRT17 protocol works under an assumption of perfect detectors, which increases difficulty in the implementations. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate what would affect the security of this protocol if the detectors were imperfect. Meanwhile, Maitra \emph{et al.} also pointed out that this problem remains open. In this paper, we analyze the security of MRT17 protocol when the detectors are imperfect and then find that this protocol is under attack in the aforementioned case. Furthermore, we propose device-independent QPQ protocol without the assumption of perfect detectors. Compared with MRT17 protocol, our protocol is more practical without relaxing the security in the device-independent framework.

Parametric Solution of a Small-Large Black Hole Coexistence Curve

We consider the first-order phase transition of a charged anti-de Sitter black hole, and find that the equation of state with the conditions of the two coexisting phases, leads to the two coupled equations about the thermodynamic volumes of small black hole and large black hole. By solving the equations, it is found that each reduced volume is only a function of the parameter $ω$ . All properties of the coexistence curve can be studied from the two volume functions. In particular, each thermodynamic quantity is described by a piecewise analytic function. The demarcation point is located at $ω_{d}=12(2\sqrt{3}-3)$. The thermodynamic function but not its derivative, is continuous at the point. This property is completely different from that of the ven der Waals fluid. Moreover, the thermodynamic behaviors as $ω\rightarrow0$ are discussed. From which one can easily obtain some critical exponents and amplitudes for small-large black hole phase transitions.

Semi-device-independent randomness expansion with partially free random sources

By proposing device-independent protocols, S. Pironio et al. [Nature 464, 1021-1024 (2010)] and R. Colbeck et al. [Nature Physics 8, 450-453 (2012)] proved that new randomness can be generated by using perfectly free random sources or partially free ones as seed. Subsequently, Li et al. [Phys. Rev. A 84, 034301 (2011)] studied this topic in the framework of semi-device-independent and proved that new randomness can be obtained from perfectly free random sources. Here we discuss whether and how partially free random sources bring us new randomness in semi-device-independent scenario. We propose a semi-device-independent randomness expansion protocol with partially free random sources, and obtain the condition that the partially free random sources should satisfy to generate new randomness. In the process of analysis, we acquire a new 2-dimensional quantum witness. Furthermore, we get the analytic relationship between the generated randomness and the 2-dimensional quantum witness violation.
