Correspondence between conformal field theory and Calogero-Sutherland model

We use the Jack symmetric functions as a basis of the Fock space, and study the action of the Virasoro generators $L_n$. We calculate explicitly the matrix elements of $L_n$ with respect to the Jack-basis. A combinatorial procedure which produces these matrix elements is conjectured. As a limiting case of the formula, we obtain a Pieri-type formula which represents a product of a power sum and a Jack symmetric function as a sum of Jack symmetric functions. Also, a similar expansion was found for the case when we differentiate the Jack symmetric functions with respect to power sums. As an application of our Jack-basis representation, a new diagrammatic interpretation is presented, why the singular vectors of the Virasoro algebra are proportional to the Jack symmetric functions with rectangular diagrams. We also propose a natural normalization of the singular vectors in the Verma module, and determine the coefficients which appear after bosonization in front of the Jack symmetric functions.

Analytical Bethe Ansatz for closed and open gl(n)-spin chains in any representation

We present an "algebraic treatment" of the analytical Bethe Ansatz. For this purpose, we introduce abstract monodromy and transfer matrices which provide an algebraic framework for the analytical Bethe Ansatz. It allows us to deal with a generic gl(n)-spin chain possessing on each site an arbitrary gl(n)-representation. For open spin chains, we use the classification of the reflection matrices to treat all the diagonal boundary cases. As a result, we obtain the Bethe equations in their full generality for closed and open spin chains. The classifications of finite dimensional irreducible representations for the Yangian (closed spin chains) and for the reflection algebras (open spin chains) are directly linked to the calculation of the transfer matrix eigenvalues. As examples, we recover the usual closed and open spin chains, we treat the alternating spin chains and the closed spin chain with impurity.

General boundary conditions for the sl(N) and sl(M|N) open spin chains

Two types of boundary conditions ("soliton preserving" and "soliton non-preserving") are investigated for the sl(n) and sl(m|n) open spin chains. The appropriate reflection equations are formulated and the corresponding solutions are classified. The symmetry and the Bethe Ansatz equations are derived for each case. The general treatment for non-diagonal reflection matrices associated to "soliton preserving" case is worked out. The connection between the "soliton non-preserving" boundary conditions and the twisted (super) Yangians is also discussed.

On osp(M|2n) integrable open spin chains

We consider open spin chains based on osp(m|2n) Yangians. We solve the reflection equations for some classes of reflection matrices, including the diagonal ones. Having then integrable open spin chains, we write the analytical Bethe Ansatz equations. More details and references can be found in [1,2].

A note on the generalised Lie algebra sl(2)q

In a recent paper, V. Dobrev and A. Sudbery classified the highest-weight and lowest-weight finite dimensional irreducible representations of the quantum Lie algebra sl(2)_q introduced by V. Lyubashenko and A. Sudbery. The aim of this note is to add to this classification all the finite dimensional irreducible representations which have no highest weight and/or no lowest weight, in the case when q is a root of unity. For this purpose, we give a description of the enlarged centre.

Algebraic approach to q-deformed supersymmetric variants of the Hubbard model with pair hoppings

We construct two quantum spin chains Hamiltonians with quantum sl(2|1) invariance. These spin chains define variants of the Hubbard model and describe electron models with pair hoppings. A cubic algebra that admits the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra as a quotient allows exact solvability of the periodic chain. The two Hamiltonians, respectively built using the distinguished and the fermionic bases of U_q(sl(2|1)) differ only in the boundary terms. They are actually equivalent, but the equivalence is non local. Reflection equations are solved to get exact solvability on open chains with non trivial boundary conditions. Two families of diagonal solutions are found. The centre and the Scasimirs of the quantum enveloping algebra of sl(2|1) appear as tools for the construction of exactly solvable Hamiltonians.

Non integrable representations of the restricted quantum analogue of sl(3) at roots of 1

The structure of irreducible representations of (restricted) U_q(sl(3)) at roots of unity is understood within the Gelfand--Zetlin basis. The latter needs a weakened definition for non integrable representations, where the quadratic Casimir operator of the quantum subalgebra U_q(sl(2)) of U_q(sl(3)) is not completely diagonalized. This is necessary in order to take in account the indecomposable U_q(sl(2))-modules that appear. The set of redefined (mixed) states has a teepee shape inside the pyramid made with the whole representation.

On Automorphisms and Universal R-Matrices at Roots of Unity

Invertible universal R-matrices of quantum Lie algebras do not exist at roots of unity. There exist however quotients for which intertwiners of tensor products of representations always exist, i.e. R-matrices exist in the representations. One of these quotients, which is finite dimensional, has a universal R-matrix. In this paper, we answer the following question: on which condition are the different quotients of U_q(sl(2)) (Hopf)-equivalent? In the case when they are equivalent, the universal R-matrix of one can be transformed into a universal R-matrix of the other. We prove that this happens only when q^4=1, and we explicitly give the expressions for the automorphisms and for the transformed universal R-matrices in this case.

Polynomial Relations in the Centre of U_q(sl(N))

When the parameter of deformation q is a m-th root of unity, the centre of U_q(sl(N))$ contains, besides the usual q-deformed Casimirs, a set of new generators, which are basically the m-th powers of all the Cartan generators of U_q(sl(N)). All these central elements are however not independent. In this letter, generalising the well-known case of U_q(sl(2)), we explicitly write polynomial relations satisfied by the generators of the centre. Application to the parametrization of irreducible representations and to fusion rules are sketched.

Composition of Kinetic Momenta: The U_q(sl(2)) case

The tensor products of (restricted and unrestricted) finite dimensional irreducible representations of $\uq$ are considered for $q$ a root of unity. They are decomposed into direct sums of irreducible and/or indecomposable representations.

Fusion Rules and R-Matrices For Representations of $SL(2)_q$ at Roots of Unity

We recall the classification of the irreducible representations of $SL(2)_q$, and then give fusion rules for these representations. We also consider the problem of $\cR$-matrices, intertwiners of the differently ordered tensor products of these representations, and satisfying altogether Yang--Baxter equations.

New fusion rules and $\cR$-matrices for $SL(N)_q$ at roots of unity

We derive fusion rules for the composition of $q$-deformed classical representations (arising in tensor products of the fundamental representation) with semi-periodic representations of $SL(N)_q$ at roots of unity. We obtain full reducibility into semi-periodic representations. On the other hand, heterogeneous $\cR$-matrices which intertwine tensor products of periodic or semi-periodic representations with $q$-deformed classical representations are given. These $\cR$-matrices satisfy all the possible Yang Baxter equations with one another and, when they exist, with the $\cR$-matrices intertwining homogeneous tensor products of periodic or semi-periodic representations. This compatibility between these two kinds of representations has never been used in physical models.
