Generation of graph-state streams

We propose a protocol to generate a stream of mobile qubits in a graph state through a single stationary parent qubit and discuss two types of its physical implementation, namely, the generation of photonic graph states through an atom-like qubit and those of flying atoms through a cavity-mode photonic qubit. The generated graph states fall into an important class that can hugely reduce the resource requirement of fault-tolerant linear optics quantum computation, which was previously known to be far from realistic. In regard to the flying atoms, we also propose a heralded generation scheme, which allows for high-fidelity graph states even under the photon loss.

Entanglement accumulation, retrieval, and concentration in cavity QED

The ability to accumulate and retrieve entanglement in the fields of two remote cavities with pairs of two-level atoms is discussed. It is shown that this transfer and retrieval can be indeed ideal with a resonant interaction. The case of initial non-maximally entangled atomic pairs is also considered. This leads to the possibility of concentrating entanglement into a single pair at the retrieval stage. A teleportation protocol based on the same setup is presented. This makes possible teleportation with built-in entanglement concentration.

The pulsing CPSD method for subcritical assemblies with pulsed sources

Stochastic neutron transport theory is applied to the derivation of the two-neutron-detectors cross power spectral density for subcritical assemblies when external pulsed sources are used. A general relationship between the two-detector probability generating functions of the kernel and the source is obtained considering the contribution to detectors statistics of both the pulsed source and the intrinsic neutron source. An expansion in alpha-eigenvalues is derived for the final solution, which permits to take into account the effect of higher harmonics in subcritical systems. Further, expressions corresponding to the fundamental mode approximation are compared with recent results from experiments performed under the MUSE-4 European research project.
