Shadows of naked singularities and superspinars related to the revisited Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes

We construct shadows of superspinars described by the revisited Kerr-de Sitter (rKdS) naked singularity (NS) spacetimes and compare them with those of the standard KdSNS spacetimes. For all the classes of the rKdSNS spacetimes we determine local escape cones related to variety of fundamental frames: locally nonrotating frames (LNRFs), radially escaping frames, and circular geodesic frames related to marginally stable obits of the rKdSNS spacetimes. The local escape cones (and their complementary cones) are then applied to construct the shadow of the KdS superspinars related to the distant static observers represented by the LNRFs located near the so-called static radius where the spacetime is close to the asymptotically flat region of the Kerr spacetimes, or the superspinars radially approaching, due to the Universe's expansion, the cosmic horizon of the spacetime. Differences of the shadows in the rKdSNS and standard KdSNS spacetimes are established and demonstrated for sufficiently large values of the dimensionless cosmological constant. For the observationally given cosmological constant and masses of the largest objects in the Universe, the shadow differences are not observable using recent observational instruments.

Light escape cones in the locally non-rotating reference frames of the Kerr-de Sitter superspinars and related superspinar shadows

The construction of local escape cones and their complementary cones, related to the locally non-rotating frames (LNRFs) orbiting superspinars with the external field described by the Kerr-de Sitter (KdS) naked singularity (NS) spacetimes, is described for all possible classes of the KdS NS spacetimes and all possible positions of the photon emitter. The notion of the local escape cones is then applied to construct the shadow of the KdS superspinars related to the distant static observers represented by the LNRFs located near the so-called static radius where the spacetime is close to the asymptotically flat region of the Kerr spacetimes. The shadow construction is focused on the KdS superpsinars limited by the cosmological and astrophysical restrictions on the spacetime parameters, namely the superspinar dimensionless spin and the dimensionless cosmological parameter relating the cosmological constant and the superspinar's mass.

Spherical photon orbits in the field of Kerr naked singularities

For the Kerr naked singularity (KNS) spacetimes, we study properties of spherical photon orbits (SPOs) confined to constant Boyer-Lindquist radius r. Some new features of the SPOs are found, having no counterparts in the Kerr black hole (KBH) spacetimes, especially stable orbits that could be pure prograde/retrograde, or with turning point in the azimuthal direction. At r > 1 (r < 1) the covariant photon energy E > 0 (E < 0), at r = 1 there is E = 0. All unstable orbits must have E > 0. It is shown that the polar SPOs can exist only in the spacetimes with dimensionless spin a < 1.7996. Existence of closed SPOs with vanishing total change of the azimuth is demonstrated. Classification of the KNS and KBH spacetimes in dependence on their dimensionless spin a is proposed, considering the properties of the SPOs. For selected types of the KNS spacetimes, typical SPOs are constructed, including the closed paths. It is shown that the stable SPOs intersect the equatorial plane in a region of stable circular orbits of test particles, depending on the spin a. Relevance of this intersection for the Keplerian accretion discs is outlined and observational effects are estimated.

Light escape cones in local reference frames of Kerr-de Sitter black hole spacetimes and related black hole shadows

We construct the light escape cones of isotropic spot sources of radiation residing in special classes of reference frames in the Kerr-de Sitter (KdS) black hole spacetimes, namely, in the fundamental class of 'non-geodesic' locally non-rotating reference frames (LNRFs), and two classes of 'geodesic' frames, the radial geodesic frames (RGFs), both falling and escaping, and the frames related to the circular geodesic orbits (CGFs). We compare the cones constructed in a given position for the LNRFs, RGFs, and CGFs. We have shown that the photons locally counter-rotating relative to LNRFs with positive impact parameter and negative covariant energy are confined to the ergosphere region. Finally, we demonstrate that the light escaping cones govern the shadows of black holes located in front of a radiating screen, as seen by the observers in the considered frames. For shadows related to distant static observers the LNRFs are relevant.
