Foundations of superstack theory

In view of applications to the construction of moduli spaces of objects in algebraic supergeometry, we start a systematic study of stacks in that context. After defining a superstack as a stack over the étale site of superschemes, we define quotient superstacks, and, based on previous literature, we see that, in analogy with superschemes, every superstack has an underlying ordinary stack, which we call its bosonic reduction. Then we progressively introduce more structure, considering algebraic superspaces, Deligne-Mumford superstacks and algebraic superstacks. We study the topology of algebraic superstacks and several properties of morphisms between them. We introduce quasi-coherent sheaves, and the sheaves of relative differentials. An important issue is how to check that an algebraic superstack is Deligne-Mumford, and we generalize to this setting the usual criteria in terms of the unramifiedness of the diagonal of the stack. We study principal bundles in the category of algebraic superspaces. Two appendices are devoted to collecting the basic definitions of group superschemes and principal superbundles, and to stating and analyzing some properties of morphisms of superschemes, that are at the basis of the study of morphisms of superstacks in the main text.

Derived supergeometry and perfect obstruction theories on algebraic superstacks

We develop a deformation-theoretic framework for algebraic superstacks and apply it to the construction of perfect obstruction theories on moduli spaces of stable supermaps. In order to achieve this we employ the tools and concepts from derived algebraic geometry, extending them to the supergeometric setting. Our main technical contributions are (i) the notions of derived superstacks, (ii) their cotangent supercomplexes and (iii) perfect obstruction theories for algebraic superstacks. We prove that a quasi-smooth derived enhancement of an algebraic superstack always yields a perfect obstruction theory: this generalizes a well-known principle from classical deformation theory. We then turn to the case of the Deligne--Mumford superstack $\boldsymbol{\mathcal{M}}^{\mathsf{st-}\mathrm{SUSY}}_{g,\mathfrak{n}}(\boldsymbol{Y})$ of stable supermaps of fixed genus, homology class and numbers of Neveu--Schwarz and Ramond--Ramond punctures, with target a smooth projective superscheme $\boldsymbol{Y}$. We exhibit a natural derived enhancement $\mathbb{R} \boldsymbol{\mathcal{M}}^{\mathsf{st-}\mathrm{SUSY}}_{g,\mathfrak{n}}(\boldsymbol{Y})$ and compute its cotangent supercomplex; we prove that the induced obstruction theory on $\boldsymbol{\mathcal{M}}^{\mathsf{st-}\mathrm{SUSY}}_{g,\mathfrak{n}}(\boldsymbol{Y})$ is perfect. Finally, we compute its virtual dimension by super Grothendieck--Riemann--Roch. The resulting formula gives, in particular, a deformation-theoretic proof of the virtual dimension formula previously conjectured for stable supermaps and specializes to the usual virtual dimension of the classical moduli stack of stable maps.

Moduli of stable supermaps

We review the notion of stable supermap from SUSY curves to a fixed target superscheme, and prove that when the target is (super)projective, stable supermaps are parameterized by a Deligne-Mumford superstack with superschematic and separated diagonal. We characterize the bosonic reduction of this moduli superstack and see that it has a surjective morphism onto the moduli stack of stable maps from spin curves to the bosonic reduction of the target, whose fibers are linear schemes; for this reason, the moduli superstack of stable supermaps is not proper unless such linear schemes reduce to a point. Using Manin-Penkov-Voronov's super Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem we also make a formal computation of the virtual dimension of the moduli superstack, which agrees with the characterization of the bosonic reduction just mentioned and with the dimension formula for the case of bosonic target existing in the literature.

On a conjecture about Higgs bundles for rank 2 and some inequalities

We briefly review an open conjecture about Higgs bundles that are semistable with after pulling back to any curve, and prove it in the rank 2 case. We also prove a set of inequalities holding for H-nef Higgs bundles that generalize some of the Fulton-Lazarsfeld inequalities for numerically effective vector bundles.

The supermoduli of SUSY curves with Ramond punctures

We construct local and global moduli spaces of supersymmetric curves with Ramond-Ramond punctures. We assume that the underlying ordinary algebraic curves have a level n structure and build these supermoduli spaces as algebraic superspaces, i.e., quotients of étale equivalence relations between superschemes.

Moduli Spaces of Semistable Sheaves on Singular Genus One Curves

We find some equivalences of the derived category of coherent sheaves on a Gorenstein genus one curve that preserve the (semi)-stability of pure dimensional sheaves. Using them we establish new identifications between certain Simpson moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on the curve. For rank zero, the moduli spaces are symmetric powers of the curve whilst for a fixed positive rank there are only a finite number of non-isomorphic spaces. We prove similar results for the relative semistable moduli spaces on an arbitrary genus one fibration with no conditions either on the base or on the total space. For a cycle $E_N$ of projective lines, we show that the unique degree 0 stable sheaves are the line bundles having degree 0 on every irreducible component and the sheaves $\mathcal{O}(-1)$ supported on one irreducible component. We also prove that the connected component of the moduli space that contains vector bundles of rank $r$ is isomorphic to the $r$-th symmetric product of the rational curve with one node.

Fourier-Mukai transforms for coherent systems on elliptic curves

We determine all the Fourier-Mukai transforms for coherent systems consisting of a vector bundle over an elliptic curve and a subspace of its global sections, showing that these transforms are indexed by the positive integers. We prove that the natural stability condition for coherent systems, which depends on a parameter, is preserved by these transforms for small and large values of the parameter. By means of the Fourier-Mukai transforms we prove that certain moduli spaces of coherent systems corresponding to small and large values of the parameter are isomorphic. Using these results we draw some conclusions about the possible birational type of the moduli spaces. We prove that for a given degree $d$ of the vector bundle and a given dimension of the subspace of its global sections there are at most $d$ different possible birational types for the moduli spaces.

Fourier-Mukai and Nahm transforms for holomorphic triples on elliptic curves

We define a Fourier-Mukai transform for a triple consisting of two holomorphic vector bundles over an elliptic curve and a homomorphism between them. We prove that in some cases the transform preserves the natural stability condition for a triple. We also define a Nahm transform for solutions to natural gauge-theoretic equations on a triple -- vortices -- and explore some of its basic properties. Our approach combines direct methods with dimensional reduction techniques, relating triples over a curve with vector bundles over the product of the curve with the complex projective line.
